We all know (and are experiencing) the nastier side effects of pregnancy, but what symptoms do you like?

For me, both with ds and with this pregnancy, my leg hair pretty much stops growing so I go from shaving every day to maybe once a week Grin especially good when I'm getting too big to easily reach!

Oh, and fitted tops and body con dresses. A.MAZE.ING. I have far too many wobbly bits the rest of the time Grin

pinkie87 · 24/07/2015 08:48

After I got through the first 20 weeks or so, my skin has been much better than usual! Before that it was a hot mess though...

AnnieLewis · 24/07/2015 08:49

Wait - there are meant to be GOOD side effects? Am 38 wks, am I missing something? Grin

No, really this one has been pretty crappy and stressful, love not having periods, and feeling baby move is reassuring but other than that... Umm. I'll have a think!

Doublebubblebubble · 24/07/2015 09:15

The eating, the fabulous boobs (can't wait for day 3) the attention and the prospect of a new baby.

Minion · 24/07/2015 09:24

The kicks.
Being looked after.

That's it.
I had terrible skin, hair was greasy and leg hair resembled that guy off the Scottish oats porridge box.
I lost all my appetite so couldn't even drown my sorrow in cake.
Insomnia and no sex dreams once I did manage to sleep.

But my heartburn went.
Oh and the knee pain.
Both came back after she arrived sadly

Mdeoude15 · 24/07/2015 10:11

Definitely nice to have bigger breasts and also increased libido (only a bit though) and carrying my baby with me in my tummy. Also share the view of wearing tight clothes and not working about belly sticking out. Am 21 weeks in first pg, and have felt little movements but not kicks, so I think I will enjoy that as well, although if the baby is anything like us it will be a real wiggler.

Sapat · 24/07/2015 10:47

No periods
Better skin (the 1st & 3rd, worse with 2nd)
The baby moving
The bump
Sorting out all the little clothes
The attention
No IBS/psoriasis

But
The hips/SPD
The way your heart sinks when you see stairs
The heartburn
Hyperemesis
The bad sleep

GothicRainbow · 24/07/2015 13:37

No periods was a real plus as mine are super painful.

When I was pregnant with DS my lactose intolerance went away so I got to indulge - proper icecream, chocolate, milkshakes - was amazing!

I'm only a few weeks pregnant at the moment but I'm really hoping it will happen again!

Boobs!

I won't say amazing hair because my hair is awful normally, but pregnancy does seem to at least bring it up to passably decent standard.

Feeling like every day is 'special'. Even if it doesn't feel like it, if I remind myself about the bump, suddenly everything seems nicer and the crap seems less important.

Counting down to not being at work for a year!

The conversations with other women- everyone wants to talk to you about it and it's so lovely. I've had such nice bonding sessions with people I only know very vaguely.

The calm. I'm so much less anxious and volatile.

Being forced out of my habit of feeling stressed and reaching for the wine. I don't miss it anywhere near as much as I expected.

Sleepybeanbump · 24/07/2015 14:21

Oh and yes, no periods!!

And my dh being quite a soppy bugger (for him). I'll never forget his face when I told him. It was a real surprise as we weren't trying. It was rather rubbish timing but he was so chuffed. Way more than I expected him to be even if we'd been planning it. It was lovely.

Feeling very feminine and sexy. I don't normally- I usually just feel like...well, me. Grin

In fact, I'd like to just stay like this permanently.

batfish · 24/07/2015 15:32

I love not feeling that I have to suck my tummy in! Also really like sitting with my hubby feeling the baby kicking.

Unfortunately I haven't experienced the awesome hair (still have to wash every day) and have been getting spots on my chest and back which is horrid - and feel generally like I look really fat and not just in a pregnant way - but overall am feeling really well and enjoying pregnancy Smile

EdgarAllenPoe · 24/07/2015 16:55

Since becoming pregnant lots of previously enjoyed foods taste gross, however fish fingers taste AMAZING to me now. Love me some fish fingers. Pair them with super noodles and it's just divine.

I usually eat quite well...

itsonlysubterfuge · 24/07/2015 19:13

I lost a lot of weight because I couldn't eat anything.
I loved having that feeling of a life growing inside me, all the kicks, and just I don't know how to explain it.

Also, feeling like it was okay to have lunch, twice Grin.

misssmilla1 · 24/07/2015 20:34
  • No periods or hormonal mood swings for 10 days every month. Has made me realize how loopy I actually go Shock
  • Enjoying not drinking and not having hangovers
  • counting down to finishing work
  • How incredibly nice people are - amazed at how many randoms I get congratulations from
  • Maternity jeans and trousers, oh the comfort! I can see why people stay in them for ever
Greycat90 · 24/07/2015 21:06

29 weeks here, second pregnancy. I haven't noticed anything better, either skin or hair related. I've been super sick for ages, then super tired, depressed and slow all the time, all this while looking after a 4 year old ... Talking about other people showing care etc etc, well, I've had to travel a lot by plane recently and I nearly lost the baby trying to get the bag in the overhead compartment while other passengers were looking on! Pregnancy doesn't suit me it seemsGrin

redexpat · 24/07/2015 21:15

Oh the dreams!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 24/07/2015 21:23

horniness

SnozzberryPie · 24/07/2015 21:29

Making dp change the litter tray every time

Having an excuse to eat a whole bag of haribo sweets in one go

OhBigHairyBollocks · 24/07/2015 22:42

No periods
Bigger boobs

That's pretty much it. I hate pregnancy

Doublebubblebubble · 24/07/2015 23:32

Jealous of you gals that get nicer hair. Mine just becomes lifeless, unmanageable, greasy and falls out by the clumpful - joy x

Icklepickle101 · 25/07/2015 10:44

My boooooooobs Grin

Gone from an A cup pre pregnancy to D and still only in 2nd trimester.

I'm really hoping they stay when LO arrives

Emochild · 25/07/2015 10:52

A ready made shelf to rest your cup of tea or plate of cake healthy food on Grin

Kitty149j · 26/07/2015 11:40

Having no migraines, who knew they were hormone induced (cause they came back after I had DS), I have mild arthritis - for 15 months I had no stiffness and felt as if I was 18 and invincible again (wore off 6 months after DS arrived unfortunately), skin was exceptionally clear and I bloomed........so much so contemplating trying for another when DS is a year old :).

Athenaviolet · 26/07/2015 11:45

I find it so much easier that other people will tolerate me being a slower walker and not being able to do as much physically.

When I'm not pg I have a mobility problem that flares up occasionally which means I can't walk as far or as fast as people expect and can't move around/bend/stretch/reach/carry etc with ease. I hate the looks I get from people- because it's hidden they just think I'm lazy/awkward.

But being pregnant gives me a free pass. Even though ironically pregnancy stops the other thing from flaring up.
