Pop concert at 35 weeks - am I bonkers?

Flangelina · 19/11/2006 19:33

Before I became pregnant I bought tickets to see George Michael at Earl's Court. But by then I will be nearly 35 weeks' pregnant. Would I be completely bonkers to go? Could I bring on premature labour? I have generally been feeling pretty well, apart from a tummy bug just this weekend which has left me feeling pretty tired. The other ticket is for my best friend and I need to let her know this week if I'm not going, so she can find someone else. (I'm 33 weeks now). Any views? Thanks.

saw elton john 7 months preg with ds1 and brian adams at 8 months with ds2. babies danced throughout lol.

webcrone · 19/11/2006 19:36

Go!

Sophiev73 · 19/11/2006 19:37

God no, you'll be fine. I can't think of all the things I did at 35 weeks both times - but they included miming falling off a chair (I'm a Drama teacher), having a chair hurled at my head (I'm a teacher), having sex in the great outdoors (ahem) and listening to lots of loud music. Your babe will be fine. ENJOY!! Wish I was going!

lulumama · 19/11/2006 19:37

exactly...baby will really enjoy the music!! will there be a seat? just that standing somewhere hot for a couple of hours might make you a little dizzy and and give you swollen ankles!! buy some support tights ! and have a lovely time!

which bit do you think might trigger labour?

Frenchsmallfry · 19/11/2006 20:03

Go..........

I saw C de B at 38 weeks pg, ds (4 now) loved it, and wriggled all the way through. It was very loud, lots of bass and drums and bangs.

Agree with lulumama though, I couldn't have stood in a croud for that long and we were lucky and had seats near the top of the auditorium. If you haven't got seats booked then speak to the medic crew on site when you get there, I'm sure they'll sort you one out to go at the side of the standing area for if you need it.

tissy · 19/11/2006 20:07

I saw Nanci Griffith at 36 weeks, and dd did a lot of jumping , and there was a LOT of BH -type contracting. I was worried I would go into premature labour in a strange town (had a planned section for medical reasons booked for 38 weeks), but I didn't, and everything settled down in the car on the way home.

WestCountryLass · 19/11/2006 21:52

I have been to concerts late in both my pregnancies - go, and have a fab time!

thelittlestboho · 19/11/2006 22:26

Use the force, get to the disabled section.lol

pregnabrain · 19/11/2006 22:32

Definitely wangle your way into the disabled section if you can. I went to see Kanye West when quite heavily preg with my dd. Brixton Academy were really gracious about letting me into the disabled section and it was far and away the BEST view i've ever had at a gig (am 5ft3 so usually mostly get to see the backs of tall blokes' heads). It was ace and i'm sure my little one enjoyed it too!

2nervesleft · 19/11/2006 22:41

As long as you have a seat you will be fine. Can't imagine there being much in the way of trouble at a George Micheal concert.

I have seen Robbie Williams, Stereophonics, Tom Jones and a circus with a human cannon ball (don't judge me on my choices please) all in late pregnancy.
Go now while you have the chance.

OMG, it's George Michael! Go woman!!

I'm going on Tues and am very excited!!

I saw Duran Duran while quite pregnant (can't remember how many weeks - maybe 30?)

fortyplus · 20/11/2006 08:48

Definitely GO!
I went to ome late in pregnancy & the only problem was that I got kicked repeatedly...
...by ds2
Have a great time - and I like the idea about getting into the disabled section - you'll definitely want to sit down some of the time.
The only word of caution would be - don't jump up & down or dance too vigorously - you won't hurt the baby but if you pull a muscle or ligament you will cause yourself problems that may never be 100% better.

fortyplus · 20/11/2006 08:48

Sorry... I went to 'one'

lpl · 20/11/2006 09:10

GO GO GO GO GO GO GO

PollyLogos · 20/11/2006 09:39

taylormama · 20/11/2006 11:35

MrsRecycle · 20/11/2006 11:38

I went to see Girls Aloud at 34 weeks... Go for it - if you decide not to go I'll have your ticket!!

spinasnowflake · 20/11/2006 12:54

GO GO GO. I'm 35 weeks now and I think at this stage you NEED to do something to keep the late pg madness at bay!!!!!!!

Bub will love it. Do try to milk the Pg lady ankles thing.

Have fun.

thelittlestboho · 20/11/2006 13:09

I'm going to see Basement Jaxx on 8th, and I'll be trying to secure a place on the platform, as pregnabrain said, best seat(lol) in the house. Took youngest to see Lily Allen few weeks back and entrenched myself on the huge sofas at side of stage. I was like having my own personal gig in my lounge. That said cannot wait till post-baboo when obligatory drunkeness and tom-foolery will be the order of the day. Glastonbury here I come!! Stares into space and remembers the good old days, hehe

Went to see Blue when pregnant with my daughter and to a club the night she was due - i thought she was dancing & was actually having contractions!!! Make sure a chair or somewhere to sit is available tho as it can get tiring. Have a great time

MarsLady · 20/11/2006 13:15

Saw Paul Weller when 8 months pregnant with DS1. Go to the concert!

frumpygrumpy · 20/11/2006 13:37

I'd go! I went to see Bryan Adams at 39+3days and gave birth 2 nights later so maybe it brought on birth . Go, go, go, someone will always use the ticket if you are in the labour ward, enjoy!

tuttifruiti · 20/11/2006 14:46

I went to T in the park (both days) at 34 weeks. I took one of those small folding seats and had a great time. Bump enjoyed it too!
Go for it!

marathonmum · 20/11/2006 15:36

I went to see Robbie Wiliams at 38 weeks in the summer of 2004 very hot and no seats at knebworth. No problems. The red cross people let me use their toilet so I didnt have to queue. Ther disable pen was a good place to stand as you dont get jostled and pushed. if youve got seats you should be ok . Have fun. make the most of it. It might be a while till you get to see another concert!
