I am 8 weeks pregnant with severe morning sickness. I went to Tescos to do a quick shop as I am feeling so horrendous and now I am pregnant I parked in mother AAnd baby as it is closer to the door. I had just got out of the car when a woman about 65 came storming up to me shouting where is your child to which I replied in my tummy. She kept ranting at me and I explained my morning sickness is awful and I just wanted to get in and out. After more ranting I got a bit fed up and told her in future maybe she should mind her own business and think before she attack someone. She then told me to F off and she was going to report me. So she headed off to customer service and reported me, after she had left I went and asked them what was their policy. To which they said there wasn't one and they apologised to me for her behaviour. They were then worried as I felt so ill I nearly passed out. Has anyone had this before?? I am now feeling extremely Ill and Just want to cry.

I think we all know it's not tesco policy that dehydrated sick pregnant women are ok to use P&C spaces - just what one slightly hysterical pregnant woman was told by a presumably flummoxed member of staff who was trying to deal with a customer who had just been verbally assaulted on the premises by another customer.

Although I think people generally have more respect for a disabled space, they're no more enforceable on private land than any other parking restriction (such as P&C spaces) are they?

Yeah, go ahead and use the spots. I might have questioned you if there trying to get a spot with my two smallies and a bump but if you told me you were sick with Ms, I'd be supportive. Don't let the uptight people upset you.

U8myufo · 23/06/2015 07:49

Jeez this forum is quite harsh! Mums are obviously a force to be reckoned with. To put things into perspective no one is going to die because you parked in a parent and child space on one occasion. I can only assume everyone else is a saint.

LoveLetters · 23/06/2015 11:21

Went to Tescos today.. Parked in the Mother and Child space again today.

Also bought some more bottled water.

Had my two yr old son with me before anyone starts having a hernia ????

I have a small baby...I also had hyperemesis in my pregnancy. You absolutely have more need than me. To be honest P&C spaces are a bit of a pain in the arse, by the time you find one in some supermarkets you are just as quick parking a bit further and having more room to open your car doors.

Number3cometome · 23/06/2015 11:30

I parked in a disabled space on Saturday - ooh shoot me now.

I'm 36+2, have nasty SPD and a spinal fusion.

Will you forgive me?

ArcheryAnnie · 23/06/2015 11:35

LoveLetters I think people have been really harsh to you. You did have a baby, even if not in the place where others might expect it!

And if Tesco are fine with it everyone else can feck off. Anyone who has ever had a really awful pregnancy ought to sympathise.

Hope you are feeling a bit better today. Thanks

Haven't read the full thread (just bits, which is why I'm not using the RTFT :))

Anyway, of course you are a mother and child!

The signs should also show pregnant women. It's not easy to get out of a car with a huge belly!

Also:
A seemingly (appearance wise) healthy young woman with no DCs using one, meaning that someone else may have to wrangle a baby car seat out of the car & on to its wheels in a tight gap.

She should be also seemingly VERY pregnant and having to open the door wide.

Keep parking there, FGS.

Number - I'm presuming without a BB?

Legwarmersforboys · 23/06/2015 11:45

You need more space to get in & out of your car at 8 months pregnant.

ElizabethG81 · 23/06/2015 11:48

As others have said, if you were so ill that you could barely walk into a supermarket, why were you driving? The woman who shouted at you was out of order, but so were you for parking in a space that may have been needed by someone it was intended for.

Also, tap water in this country is absolutely fine, you would not be "taking chances" to drink it. You were taking more chances by driving to the supermarket.

LoveLetters · 23/06/2015 11:51

Sat here drinking some bottled water but thanks for the concern. HG a little better now or might be a rest day.

Wouldn't bother me. Don't care who uses them (I have two toddlers and quite happy to park and walk). Think everyone is a bit previous both ways about p&c spaces

ArcheryAnnie · 23/06/2015 11:56

Data point for people going "ffs 8 weeks is nothing!!!!": it's very possible to feel just as horribly, horribly ill at 8 weeks as it is at 8 months. And in many ways it's worse because you don't look pregnant, so don't get any accommodation for it.

LoveLetters · 23/06/2015 11:58

Being this my third pregnancyi have always thought that the first trimester is the worst!!! Can't wait TIL it is over. 9 weeks now :)

Hmmm, that will teach me to read the OP properly. 8 weeks, not 8 months. Doh.

Lweji · 23/06/2015 12:03

But I certainly felt much worse at 8 weeks than 8 months.

Without a BB

I am a bad person.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 23/06/2015 12:12

She should have calmed down when you explained, I think. But I can see why she was initially irate.

I'm very surprised that your GP let you leave without giving you a drink if you were on the verge of hospitalisation though. I once went slightly dizzy in my GP's surgery and they made me lie on a bed with my feet raised, drink water and eat a biscuit before they would let me leave. And I wasn't pregnant and was on foot! You maybe need to think about whether you should be driving. Perhaps ask a friend for a lift or take a taxi?

SillyStuffBiting · 23/06/2015 12:53

What a lot of shite on this thread and I swear this place is getting more like nethuns by the day.

LoveLetters · 23/06/2015 13:00

I'm not going to keep explaining why I was driving or why I drink bottled water. Get a grip. The issue is parking in a mother and baby space when pregnant.

OP posts:
TendonQueen · 23/06/2015 13:24

Er, you get a grip. It's the internet, people can ask what they like. You don't have to answer but you can't police the questions.

LoveLetters · 23/06/2015 13:39

sips bottled water
