hello! Smile I'm just curious to the reasons that some people can not breastfeed, i really hope to do this! What could be some of the things that stop me?

Gouda I think that's very dismissive tbh.
I feel like i failed to breastfeed rather than choosing not to. (I 'chose' to stop with my first dd which was very different).
I had to give formula the first night as I could not latch her myself and she would not feed and was just screaming her head off in distress.
I managed to get her latched with the help of a midwife the next day but by that point I think the nipple confusion was already setting in.

Whenever a mw helped I got her latched but it was excruciating through the whole feed. They didn't show me how to latch her, they just latched her for me so I had no real idea what I was doing.

Then being told the issue was tongue tie and the tongue tie would be cut and then being told it wouldn't when I had it in my head that would fix the issues we were having was very psychologically damaging.
By that point I had been expressing as I was told to do that to keep up my milk supply until the tongue tie was cut and dd then would not take the breast at all.

So mostly for me it was very bad advice and very bad support that caused my daughter to end up refusing the breast - not me refusing to feed her.

Forgot to add the baby blues hit about day 3 or 4 just before your milk comes in and right when the baby is starting to fuss for more from your breasts.

So the uncontrollable crying - from you - from the baby - feeling like hell when you should be all smiley and happy with this gorgeous bundle and not understanding why you don't is another turning point for women.

The baby will be hungry by then but persevering is tough when its screaming for more. You are on your knees with hormones, lack of sleep and worrying your baby is starving, and to boot your nipples feel like they are being mangled in a mincer every time you put the baby on.

For most it does pass usually in a day or so and things start to get a lot easier and less painful. By week 3/4 I had no pain at all unless the latch was a bit off but once I had learnt the difference it only took a second to correct.
My DSis had hardly any pain at all at the start the lucky so and so.

I have no experience of TT so cant comment on that but imagine it can bring a whole plethora of issues I never had.
