would you / do you: one glass of champers

I think I kind of know the answer to this question, but here's the deal - I'm 19 weeks and it's my birthday and DH is treating me to a fabulous dinner at a michelin starred restaurant. I would LOVE to have a glass of champers when we go which I could sip at throughout the meal (so not down in one go or anything), but don't know if I'll enjoy it if I am just imagining poor baby wallowing in alcohol.

So, what do you all reckon? Would you do it? Have you done it? I haven't had any alcohol since I found out I was pregnant (had a glass of wine the night before my BFP as I was convinced that I wasn't pregnant).

Same here Skipton, I generally only drink wine or champagne (or cava Smile) because that's what I like!

This is one of the things I would worry about (okay not as much on its own but as part of the great scheme of 'thou art pregnant therefore thine actions shall be judged' shit that seems to be the norm these days) if I ever decided to have kids.

My own mother is an absolute zealot for zero alcohol while pregnant & vocally judges my peers who have had the odd glass of wine / champagne / whatever. And yet....I was brought up in a smoking household; where Saturday night there was a constant haze over the living room with parents and guests smoking; where smoking in the car was the default even when I begged DM not to smoke. BTW I'm an adult asthmatic with a history of severe chest infections - she can't understand how it happened.

It's all relative really. A small chilled champers seems entirely reasonable even if you consumed it in 20 minutes tbh.

That said I am a bit Hmm about 'allowed' and 'rules'. The doctor can suggest whatever he or she likes and there may indeed be consequences to not following that advice, but it's advice, not The Law.

I'd do it in a heartbeat! I think prolonged alcohol abuse it a bit different to a small glass occasionally.
