Loving the bump pictures! :-)

Although it's still early days my consultant has never even suggested a section, it was said from the moment we found out that as long as everything is going to plan it will 100% be a vaginally delivery.
To be honest I wouldn't want an CS if I didn't absolutely have to (People seem to find this very odd!) Having a toddler at home I want recovery time to be as quick as possible.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 12/05/2015 20:10

The first consultant I saw was pushing me towards a vaginal birth without giving me an option but the last one I saw asked me what I'd prefer and I obviously said c section for the same reasons as Rebecca. Our bodies our choice. I will not be forced into something I'm not happy with with such a high risk pregnancy! Bex I'm Shock at your bump mine is like a bumpy watermelon now their backs are sticking out

Rebecca1608 · 12/05/2015 20:11

Congratulations Rubyred. I would have loved the experience of a natural birth but the risk of complications are far too high for me. I really feel for you if it is the start of SPD i suffered terribly and had to finish work early because of it. Luckily mine has gone now but still get my share of pains and twinges.

Rebecca1608 · 12/05/2015 20:13

Haha Glitz same here! My bump is huuuge and i definitely think you should have the option of an ELCS when it's necessary.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 12/05/2015 20:20

I don't think I'll be squeezing back in size 10s anytime soon Grin. Did anyone get fresh stretch marks? I've not got new ones but as you can see I'm very veiny now! That's twin A sticking her back out her head has moved down now

RockerMummy184 · 12/05/2015 20:26

Oh I just thought of something else no one I know had been able to answer on account of not having had twins....I've been told it looks as if I have 1 anterior and 1 posterior placenta, could this be the reason I can only feel movement on one side as the other side is being cushioned?

Theunwritten · 12/05/2015 20:38

May I join please! 16+2 DCDA twins and this thread sounds like what I've been looking for!
Rocker mummy I'm the same with the placentas, only just started to feel some movements over the last week and only on the lower right side, but the midwife has assured me that in a few weeks I will soon start feeling 'like a washing machine' great!!

Anyone else experience a strong tightening at the very lower part of the tummy, worse when standing up and about to walk? Often takes me a few seconds before I can start moving and I almost have to 'hold' my bump up.

Bex174 · 12/05/2015 21:09

Aww thanks guys!! :)

I never really thought about how symmetrical I am, I guess I'm lucky as I literally have one on either side of my abdomen, so twin 1's back is going down my left side and twins 2 back down my right side, so roughly balanced! The other godsend, they've still left some room for my bladder as their heads are holding each out of my pelvis - for now!! Small positives :)

But dear god rib flare is a killer as both their bums are tucked up under my rib cage. Never thought it could be so painful but it honest feels the same sometimes as when I broke a rib a few years back. Yet to find something that helps, although I still swear to my other half my pregnancy massages do help quite a bit and quit complaining for a day or two after them and simply grimace instead ;)

As for delivery, all along everyone , including my midwife, had said to me c-section. Not that I was being forced or anything but I'd never fully discussed as far as the birth with a consultant. Since it's my first I just assumed that was the way it was with twins. Wasn't until my last consultant check that vaginal was shown as an option, so I was just totally surprised really that I still had a choice as I'd got to about 29wks not knowing that!!

Bex174 · 12/05/2015 21:14

Oh and rocker I also have an anterior and posterior placenta and only really feeling movements down my right side and the bottom left, there's a 'blank' area on my upper left. When I looked on the screen at my last scan, the blank area was where the main body of the anterior placenta was so think the area is being cushioned as you said

theunwritten you're lucky, I only started to feel movements at 23wks due to placenta location!

Rebecca1608 · 12/05/2015 21:16

Lucky you Bex!! These babies are squishing my bladder and i must be up every 2 hours in the night. I guess they are preparing me early for the sleepless nights lol. Are you having a section too? Has anyone actually had an ELCS on this thread? I'm so nervous about it as i'm told there could be 15+ people in theatre at the time and also a little squimish!

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 12/05/2015 21:19

Clicked on this blatantly trying to stalk my cousin (I don't think any of you are her... Boring!)

But Guybrush you were on the June 2015 thread weren't you? So pleased to hear you have been successful in your baby quest!! Good luck with them!

Rebecca1608 · 12/05/2015 21:47

Stalking your cousin Grin hahah! Why?

rubyred84 · 12/05/2015 23:14

thanks Rebecca, let's see what the doctor says!! fingers crossed its not SPD!!Confused

Rebecca1608 · 13/05/2015 00:10

Definitely. I had mine for a good number of weeks. I got referred to a physio by consultant and by the time my appointment came through it had gone.

mrsatkinson · 13/05/2015 07:03

hello everyone! im pregnant with my first, dcda twins, both boys, 22+4.
so excited cant wait!
my bump is growing by the day-anyone else feel absolutely huge?
Bex, i too have been told to plan provisionally for vaginal birth, and she even said i should aim for 40 weeks which shocked me even more! Smile

quesadillas · 13/05/2015 07:17

Hi,

Not got time to read all the messages right now, but thought I'd join anyway and catch up later! 19 weeks with DCDA twins here, babies #2 and #3. Total shock at the time but slowly getting used to it. Planning a CS for birth at 37 weeks max. 20 week scan next week.

Look forward to panicking with you all!

RockerMummy184 · 13/05/2015 09:59

Hi theunwritten, the 'washing machine' sounds pretty interesting! Looking forward to this starting! Hmm Grin
Have you had your 16 week MW app yet? I have mine today and not sure what they will do/discuss (I don't remember what they did when I was pg with DS and didn't know whether there would be any difference with having multiples?)
Also yes to the holding bump up thing! I think they must be having a growth spurt or something around about now as I feel like my stomach is going to drop every time I stand up. I've been getting quite bad pains too (Nothing that feels like contractions or anything) that I've put down to rapid stretching/growing over the last few weeks. It's quite uncomfortable.

Hi Mrsatkinson, I feel absolutely HUGE at the moment too, (I know in the whole scheme of things I'm not, but whereas my bump first time round grew at a steady pace, this time I seem to be doubling in size each week! haha).

quesadillas will you find out what you're having at the 20 week scan or are you waiting for surprises?

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 13/05/2015 10:05

fwiw, twins are fucking GREAT

sooner or later

mine are 11, and I am weirdly jealous of your bumps

well done everyone Flowers Cake Brew sorry no Wine for now

[no emoji for feet up]

Bex174 · 13/05/2015 10:23

Glitz I've just seen your pictures too now I've switched to my iPad - Your bump is looking fab as well, really 'neat' and we're probably around the same size at that time point. I'm starting to be able to see some veins down the sides too, especially if it's warm. No lines negra and so far no stretch marks, but I'm not counting my chickens before they've hatched on that one!

I love it now I actually have an obvious bump so my aches and pains have an explanation!

Bex174 · 13/05/2015 10:39

40wks Mrsatkinson, that is quite a surprise. My consultant said the latest they would let me get to is 38wks, but then I do have an issue with twin 2's kidney so perhaps that also comes into play?

After the 28wk point my bump just seems to have exploded! It was quite tucked away until that point with everyone saying how on earth could I be carrying twins as I was so tiny...

Then boom!! Woke up one morning and suddenly there they were! :)

Redrosie77 · 13/05/2015 10:48

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me jumping in as I've only just seen this thread. Really great to see one dedicated to twin pregnancies as ive found you can feel quite alone. Whilst ive made some great friends through antenatal classes they are all having one baby so can't quite share the same experience.

These are my first babies so I'm in a world of the unknown, I'll be 35 weeks on Friday with B/G twins. I'm starting to get really nervous about the birth now as my hospital still won't confirm whether it's c section or normal. I have an appointment on Monday so I think I'm going to push for an ELCS as this feels like it gives me more control and one twin is breech.

Has anyone else got their hospital bags packed? I feel like I've packed enough for a weeks holiday!

Rebecca1608 · 13/05/2015 10:51

Me MrsAtkinson! I feel huge.... but i AM huge lol. I'm 33 weeks and have 3 weeks left. Does this mean i'm the 1st to go in for my twins?.... like i wasn't shitting myself already Grin it's strange they're thinking of letting you go full term. I thought you'd go 37/38 weeks. Good for you though if you can :) i have another scan tomorrow so i can check their EFW last time- 2 weeks ago they were both well over 3lbs so i'm happy.

Rebecca1608 · 13/05/2015 10:53

Redrosie i think if one twin is breech you'll be given the option anyway i'm not sure also if it's what you want push for it it's your body! I've been packed since about 29weeks but i'm expecting mono-di twins and it's touch and go. Every week is an accomplishment lol.

Lemiis13 · 13/05/2015 11:24

I haven't got my hospital bag packed, I don't know what to put in it as daft as that sounds. What have you ladies got in yours??
Also just come back from having a scan with my consultant and I've have been told that I'm definitely going to make it to at least 30wks which is a massive accomplishment as they wernt given a good survival rate due to suspected ttts and slow growth in twin 2 so very happy today Grin

areyoubeingserviced · 13/05/2015 11:30

You lucky lot.
I would loved to have had twins.
They always say that if you want twins you will not get them
