Also don't worry that they're head down! DD was head down from 24 weeks consistently and came on her due date! Doesn't mean anything.

I'm really nervous about preterm labour though. Google is scaring me. Is there anything one can do to reduce the risk?

All that sounds really good and I'm planning to try and do similar with my ds, but he's only just turned two so he doesn't understand what's going on.
We try and talk to him about the babies and he will kiss and rub my bump but that affection could change once he physically sees them. I'm trying not to project my guilt onto ds as much as I'm trying to spend loads of time with him before they come I'm also trying to keep things normal as I don't want him to think that mummy has spent loads of time doing fun stuff with me and now all of a sudden it's stopped if that makes sense?! Me and ds are super close and I'm feeling so guilty as to how our relationship is going to change Sad

Rebecca1608 · 12/05/2015 13:19

Glitz it is really hard i hated my last couple of weeks in work. I found it knackering and i was quite snappy as i just struggled being there. Twin 1 on my left has been head down since about 25 weeks and Twin 2 on the right was always transverse or breech just doesn't wanna move. The twin that's head down has dropped now though and according to Dr who had to give me an 'examination' last week is "ready" i feel like they're going to drop out of me too lol. I also don't like the fact i can't eat very much anymore Smile

ewarwoowoo · 12/05/2015 13:27

Congratulations to all you twin mums! my id twin boys have just turned three. my dd was 2 when they arrived. hard work but amazing and lovely too. but my god there are hard times! ask for help, surround yourself with friends and family who support you and accept that you will need to take short cuts and compromise on the parent you would have wanted to be if you just had one.

There is a multiple births board on mn where you will find lots of multiple parents. I have met some life long friends on that board. good luck! Grin Grin

Lemiis13 · 12/05/2015 13:30

Thanks so much Ewar Smile

Rebecca1608 · 12/05/2015 13:32

I'll check that board out i think see if i can get some tips too lol i'm definitely going to take all the help i can get!

Rebecca1608 · 12/05/2015 13:32

Thanks Ewar :)

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind me joining in. I am 17 weeks with DCDA twins. Second pregnancy. DS was 2 last month. No twins in mine or DH's family so massive shock to us. We found out at 9 weeks.

On the topic of bumps, mine is HUGE!, I am already bigger than I was with DS at 30 weeks! Does anyone mind me asking how much weight they have gained? I have gained 3kg. No idea if this is too much/too little.

This pregnancy has been very different to carrying a singleton. Hunger, sickness, exhaustion, headaches, boob ache, all the nasty bits, have been totally amplified! I have only just started to feel human again over the last week or so. I'm worried that as soon as I start to feel completely better I'll be so big and uncomfortable I will back to feeling shit again!

I also worry how DS is going to adjust to the prospect of 2 babies in the house. Although I work full time and DS is used to being with his childminder and he is very happy there, when I am around he is very much a mummy's boy and wants my 100% undivided attention and to do everything with me. Your ideas are very useful Guybrush, I will definitely be stealing some of those. I also thought DS could be 'mummy's helper' since he is the 'big boy' and he could help with things like passing the nappies and patting backs at winding time so he feels like he is being useful.

Lemiis13 · 12/05/2015 14:12

Hi rocker, your ds is the same age as mine and he sounds similar to mine with being a mummy's boy it's so cute isn't it.
I'm not sure how much weight I've put on but I don't think it's that much I'm all bump and boobs, I was the same with ds until I was about 30wks then the weight piled on so I'm expecting to be the same this time around.
I started to feel less sick and like my energy was coming back to me at around 18wks but for the past few days starting to feel a bit rough again so I'm just trying to take it easy and pray that ms doesn't come back

Rebecca1608 · 12/05/2015 16:23

I'm scared of going early as they thought last week i was showing signs of early labour. I'm already having them at 36+3 i don't want them any earlier. The longer they cook the better.

Rockermummy i have put on 2 stone at 33 weeks! I've gone from a size 10 to a 14 i'm mostly boobs and bump but it's the weight gain i'm struggling with as i'm constantly breathless and i could put on a couple more lbs in next couple of weeks Sad

GlitzAndGigglesx · 12/05/2015 17:06

I've lumbered on 2 and a half stone so far Blush. I blame it on the babies and amniotic fluid Grin. You actually can't see the extra weight anywhere else but I have been eating more

Bex174 · 12/05/2015 17:22

Fantastic, a twins thread! I'm currently 31wks with DCDA twins.

Anyone else had their consultant mention they may not be planning a c-section? I was quite surprised when mine mentioned that potentially vaginal might be happening! I was that surprised I didn't really ask too many questions too many questions to be honest and just said "whatever you think is best..."

My bump has done a bit of an explosion over this past week and I swear it's not just because I discovered McDonalds McFlurries are fine during pregnancy!! I'll see if I can attach a picture so you can compare/contrast as I'm feeling pretty huge bump wise at the moment

Bex174 · 12/05/2015 17:23

Anyone fancy an "Oh holy fuck, I'm having twins" support group?
Rebecca1608 · 12/05/2015 17:35

Haha same here Glitz. It doesn't help that i'm loving mcdonalds milkshakes Blush and OH is always coming home with chocolates because i "deserve them" but hopefully i'll be back in my size 10 jeans quite soon. Depends how quick i recover after the section.

What a tidy bump you have Bex. Are you not automatically given the option of an ELCS with twins? Hmm. I think if it's something you would like i'd do some research about giving birth to twins naturally and the risks and possibly bring it up in consultant appointments. Or maybe you do fancy a natural birth. For me it was the thought of having 1 naturally and then possibly an EMCS... 2 recoveries- ouch!!
Also my twins share a placenta so it was recommended for me due to higher risks of complications such as placenta coming after first baby born.

littlesupersparks · 12/05/2015 17:38

I have a 5yo, 3yo and 3 week old twins. Pregnancy was hard at the end, delivery was super quick and easy (induced at 38 weeks) and the babies are ADORABLE! :-) you will all be fine xx

Lemiis13 · 12/05/2015 17:49

Initially I wasn't offered a c-section but because of complications I have be told that I can have one but that's as far as the conversation has gone.
Bex your bump looks so neat, mine is really odd shaped, these babies are constantly on the move Smile
Little what is your daily routine like??

Rebecca1608 · 12/05/2015 17:52

Aww congratulations littlesupersparks :) were they good weight? I'm scared that mine will end up in the special care baby unit. My midwife has told me to be prepared incase they do but the more i think of it it just makes me anxious. X

Rebecca1608 · 12/05/2015 17:54

My bump is also odd shaped haha!

littlesupersparks · 12/05/2015 17:56

Up at 6.30/7 with boys - although DH is getting up at the moment - he gets them breakfast before work. I wake babies and get them dressed. School run at 8.30, out to groups/clinic/park/library for 3yo home for 12 lunch, 3yo sleeps, pick up 5yo at 3.15. Park after school. Home for 4.30, tv for boys, dinner at 6. Tidy toys, read with 5yo (he gets a book a day from school). Babies usually get fussy, we take one each whilst each dealing with a boy!! I feed and swap with daddy - sometimes I feed both at once whilst he puts boys to bed. Downstairs, tv - deal with fussy babies, bed at 9.30, feed and repeat!! I doze whilst co sleeping :-)

My mum is with me doing the cooking and helping with 3yo at the moment. I'm looking forward to finding our new normal when she goes though.

Feeding both at once seems to really calm them and I had them both in the moby wrap today which they loved.

littlesupersparks · 12/05/2015 17:58

Monday my 3yo goes to childminder, Tuesday is clinic or toddler group, Wednesday Forest School (we are starting this tomorrow), Thursday is park or toddler group with bouncy castles, Friday is rugby and then park.

Shopping and meal planning now all done by OH online and delivered. I worked until 35 weeks and was pretty tired so he started with this a while ago.

littlesupersparks · 12/05/2015 18:00

My little boy was 6lb4 and my little girl 6lb6 I think - I'm not sure as it's written in kilos!! My little girl was footling breech but delivery was super easy, no tears/grazes and I was home the next day :-)

littlesupersparks · 12/05/2015 18:03

38 weeks and 10 days pp - and my gorgeous babies!!

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 12/05/2015 18:10

Bex you look lovely!

I would imagine it depends on the consultant and circumstances but I would have thought the discussion about birth covers both options. I've had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery before so if twin 1 is head down and they are both developing well, I can't see why they would particularly suggest a c-sec. I'd like to keep it open at this stage I think.

Hi I found your thread! I'm currently 31+5 with dcda twins. Finished work at 29 weeks mostly cos I was worried about preterm labour after everything I heard and read but am enjoying a rest as I think I'll need to be well rested! So far all seems ok, have been told twin 2 has a high amount of amniotic fluid but not been investigated by consultant other than GTT test which and back normal. I'm hoping it's just one of those things and if they're mr worried neither am I! Twin 1 has been head down since first scan and twin 2 has been breech and transverse(swimming around in all the fluid!). Have had 4 week scans next one at 32 weeks on Thursday. Was told at first apt that I could choose cs as it was hospital policy with twins but am planning to try vaginal birth if they are both head down or twin 1 is at least. My hospital just go by position of twin 1 so if she's not head down then it will be a cs. I'm strangely chilled about it now apart from the worry they will be early but feel much better each day they stay in there! Maybe I'm just in denial about it all!! X

rubyred84 · 12/05/2015 20:03

can I join?? just what I have been looking for! currently 26 weeks with DCDA b/g twins....excited and nervous all at once! ftm too!

have been suffering a lot with rib flare, and this weekend could barely walk so wondering if I have the start of SPD...Sad

standard in my hospital to deliver DCDA twins vaginally but in theatre, so have just about got my head around it now (I'm a bit of a control freak and its taken me along time to accept that I need to just go with the flow).

lovely to meet you all!xx
