I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Lucinda your story is the exact same as mine other than mine is the left hip which it started with and is most painful. Agree vomiting will not help at all. My foot has only just healed after pulling a tendon from crouching when being sick! Wish I could just enjoy being pregnant instead of moaning every day. Anyway here is my bump, first baby at 17+1..

Amyyy27 · 05/06/2015 11:40

Surely that will be causing some pressure!

eallison88 · 05/06/2015 11:49

That's a pretty impressive bump for 17wks!

Meerka · 05/06/2015 11:57

It's a really rather lovely one too! somehow neat :)

Amyyy27 · 05/06/2015 12:01

Thank you :) I dread to think how big I will get by the end.. I know its not usual to be this big so early! I think if the midwife had bothered to glance down at my tummy she may have changed her mind!

LucindaE · 05/06/2015 13:37

Lovey picture, any. As Meerka says, very neat looking. Sorry you are back to vomiting at work.

elizabethsmum · 05/06/2015 17:30

Very sorry for absence from thread - will try to catch up with everything that's been happening!

Oklahoma · 06/06/2015 10:12

Hi Ladies, I just wanted to drop in and give you some moral support and hope.

I have a 7 month old daughter whom I love more than anything in the world.

I was sick every day of my pregnancy and couldn't see how I would possibly love her or bond with her or even survive the pregnancy some days. But day by day and week by loooong week we got there. And you all will too.

Hang on in there.

Waves to Meerka and Lucinda x

LucindaE · 06/06/2015 10:23

Oklahoma How lovely of you to stop by to encourage others. I remember your awful pregnancy. Baby seven months already!
elizabethsmum It's lovely of you to come on and advise, no need to apologize for absence.
any As it's over two weeks since Muddylettuce's due date, I'll remove her as happily delivered, I'm sure, and add your 11 November. It will come.
Seems a world away, but you will be in Oklahoma's position. 'This Too Will Pass' (in slow motion).
I hope everyone isn't suffering too much today, or needing fluids, or being given annoying advice, and cats are doing their bit regarding comforting and OH's scrubbing floors and cleaning lavatories...

okla! oh lovely too see you

How is Oklette doing? :) rolling over and showing signs of squirming along the ground yet? :)

Hellohellohowareyou · 06/06/2015 13:49

Afternoon ladies! I've not been on for a while so trying to catch up with everything.

I just want to echo what the previous posters have said about it passing. It's such a lovely feeling waking up in the morning and not being hit with an overwhelming feeling of nausea! It's taken me a long time to get to this point but you all will too.

I'm nearly 37 weeks now which means section is just over 2 weeks away. I'm tired, uncomfortable and in pain (but only occasionally being sick) so I'm really looking forward to baby arriving!

Oklahoma · 06/06/2015 14:22

Hello wow you were just joining the thread as I was graduating. Congratulations.

Meerka Oklette is just lovely. W must be huuuuuge now. I'll send you photos x

MotherofPearl · 06/06/2015 17:45

Sorry for silence the last few days. Welcome to newbie Sunshine, and sorry to hear so many suffering so badly at the moment, not just from HG but SPD and related pains. How is everyone today? Eallison, Amy, Lilac and everyone else? I so agree with Oklahoma, when you're in the midst of HG you can't imagine you'll ever feel normal again, but you really do. I found caring for a newborn a doddle compared with The Scourge.
Hello, you're nearly there! Lucky you to have a section booked, sounds like you've really been through enough.
Big cheery waves to all, hope everyone having a reasonable weekend. Smile

Carno13 · 06/06/2015 18:27

Hello everyone, please may I join? 7+2 with DC2, DD is 21 months.

Think I have extreme pregnancy sickness and not HG as I am able to keep some fluid down.
I've been feeling horrendous for the past week, can't function, don't feel safe to drive, can barely keep anything down.. I've been drinking those drinks that old people have when they can't eat and they have been my lifeline. I feel really down and depressed about it all. I was prescribed buccus tablets but they didn't really work so have been taken cycliZine since yesterday and haven't really noticed much of a difference.

MotherofPearl · 06/06/2015 18:38

Welcome to the thread Carno. Sounds like HG to me, but as Lucinda has said, there does seem to be a grey area between very bad MS and HG. How were you in your first pregnancy? Cyclizine takes a while to build up in your system, so worth persevering. But if no improvement after a few days do go back and ask them to try you on something else. Many people swear by Ondansetron. Meanwhile, hang in there. It's so so dreadful, especially at the point you're at. All sympathies.

Meerka · 06/06/2015 20:33

oklette Oh i will look forward to getting the pictures! thank you :) The Pipsqueak is indeed huge and eats as much as his 7 yo brother =) He's also endlessly active and generally very happy. And active. He's just learned to climb the stairs!

hello closer and closer! The last few weeks go by soooo slowly don't they. But each night is one more day off the calendar ...

carmen welcome. Official diagnosis doesn't matter, the n + v are affecting you very badly, that's what counts.

There's quite a lot of tips on here but also, have a good look at the Preg Sickness Support website that Mother Hen posted in the OP, also the pregnanxysicknesssos site she also linked.

cyclizine does indeed take 3 or so days to build up. But if it's not working, go back and ask for metoclopramide and / or promethazine. Those are the next steps up.

Try to rest and to sleep as much as you can. After meds, it's the best thing for severe preg sickness. Bit worried that you don't feel safe to drive; been there and it's scary.

post here whenever you need to. We're a friendly bunch =)

LucindaE · 07/06/2015 10:45

Carno Welcome to the thread nobody wants to need. Great advice from Meerka. I do hope the cyclazine starts helping soon; if not, don't hesitate to ask for something else. Sorry you are suffering. I'm glad you are able to keep those drinks down, what are they called? I wonder if they are the ones hospitals sometimes distribute? Are those the only drinks you can stand? Are ice lollies, flat coke, soda water or the juice of tinned fruit no good? usual boring advice; have you got kestostix (available from any chemsits) to check for dehydration if you're having difficulty with liquids.
Oklahoma I'd love to see a photo too - always love to see photos of babies.
Meerka He's getting up the stairs now? We had a horrible steep flight that even roofers used to fall down (when they'd had a few, though), the only thing was two stair gates that used to jam, a real pest.
Mother of Pearl Welcome back.
Hello I am so happy to hear that the puking has at last ceased. That old Hyperemesis just didn't want to let you go...
I hope everyone taking it easy today.

hello i hope these two weeks fly by for you, you are on the home stretch now! My due date is 15th november, its my 2nd and my stomach has popped out over the last few days - i feel huge already! To those that are new to the tread and have meds that arent working, i would push for ondansetron its the only thing that has touched my HG. I feel like ive turned a corner since last week, evenings are definately more bearable and i feel like i have a bit of energy! Still on kpondansetron and have stockpiled for my holiday this week, still very lightheaded though so need to be careful not to overdo it. Hugs to all

Hi all - so sorry to hear there is more lovely ladies suffering with this horrible condition. I am happy to see I'm no longer on the bottom of the due date list (yay! The end is in sight).

On a fun, distracting topic, what has everyone done in regards to baby showers? My SIL raised the topic with my husband last week, she wants to throw me one. I never thought about it earlier due to the illness.

I'm starting to think SPD is definitely connected to HG, or potentially just my lack of movement for the last 14w. My pelvis has slowly been hurting more and more, but I'm not even up to my pre-pregnancy weight yet!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

eallison88 · 07/06/2015 21:14

Hi all. Much better weekend after seeing doctor Friday morning after a horrendous morning (made it to work then spent two hours pretty much in the loos). Changed my antacid to omeprazole which seems to be doing wonders. And told me to take the ondansetron again. I can't believe that I didn't just do that myself! After a very scary day on Friday, panicking that everything was going downhill again, it's settled yesterday/today. Still not brill, but better than the really bad time. And the doc was clear that if I can't manage work then to go straight back and he'd sign me off/recommend reduced hours. So not so panicky right now.

It's amazing how quickly and how dark things git in my head at the first sign of things going down the pan (literally!!) again. I really did feel like I did at my worst on Thurs night/Fri morn. Luckily a supportive gp was very practical and believed me and accepted what I said. He'd clearly read my notes and was happy to accept that I was the expert when it comes to my body and HG. Which was very empowering!

Melleebacca · 07/06/2015 22:36

Ealli - that's great news! I have been trying to wean off the ondansetron by taking one every 2 days, but there is a huge difference in how I feel with and without it. Going to doctor next week for a repeat prescription, but I am concerned about needing it to the end. So happy to hear you're feeling better!
