I know this is neither here nor there as they arent very expensive but what kind of baby baths do you reccomend? I havent got a whole lot of room to store a full sized baby basin type thing. So was wondering about the baby seats or the fold away ones? Xx

We borrowed a bath but it was too small for our baby after about 2 months.
I would get a bath seat to put in the big bath. We had a thick sponge wedge she could lie on which was fab but it was a gift so I don't know where it was from.

We just have a cheapy plastic baby bath And store it in the big bath when not in use. I think it cost less than £10 and foes the job :) far easier than filling up the big bath and using that

I got a sponge thing from home bargains, got a groove for baby. Haven't bought a bath as will use kitchen sink to begin with (save our backs)

Thanks ladies :)

We have a baby bath with a standard, so it is working height. I don't understand why they aren't sold as a set in the UK.
Anyway, the bath lives on a hook on the back of the bathroom door when not in use and the standard folds away.

Really, really recommend the Tummy Tub. Our DC1 hated being in the big bath but DC2 just loved the Tummy Tub.

BikeRunSki · 20/04/2015 19:43

Sink!

tresfatigue · 20/04/2015 19:44

We didn't use a baby bath, had something like this instead. I would either bath him or take the shower head down and run the shower over him (checking temperature of course) depending on how dirty he was, and how much of a rush we were in. Folded up and left in bath when not in use.

I really wouldn't bother they just take up space, we just bathed him in the sink. When he could sit up we bought the mothercare mat thing with seat.

weelamb123 · 20/04/2015 19:47

Dont use a baby bath, its too much hastle. Just buy a good baby bath support. Xx

tresfatigue · 20/04/2015 19:47

My mum advised me that with a c section it would be quite a strain tipping and emptying the bath after every use, compared to just pulling the plug or turning shower off. Friend also had a c section and regretted buying a baby bath/ended up getting a seat thing too.

Emilyjane11 · 20/04/2015 19:51

Thanks I think I will go for a seat. I cant bath baby in sink. Bathroom one is way too small and I dont fancy doing it in the kitchen one!

We had a baby support for early days and then a bath seat from a few months old. Pregnant with dc2 and this one will be sloshed in with big bro! I also am not a bath a day gal, DS gets 2-3 a week and a flannel round other days or morning shower with daddy

HippyPottyMouth · 20/04/2015 19:58

We were given a standard type baby bath but only used it for about 10'weeks. We went away and had to bath her in the full size bath and there was SO much less screaming as she had space to kick and wriggle. She was only 8/9lb by this stage, so still tiny. We never had a bath seat, she lay down until she could sit and now she sits. It's easier to wash them lying down. I've given it away now and wouldn't bother if I had another baby, although the waste of water grieves me.

Fattycow · 20/04/2015 19:59

Our baby bath has a plug. So after a bath, you can just pull the plug out and place a bucket underneath or have a hose running from the hole to the big bath/sink/toilet.

LillyBugg · 20/04/2015 20:01

I used one of those baby shaped sponge things. It was a fiver in boots. Used it until about four months then just binned. It took up no space and was brilliant.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 20/04/2015 20:02

My DS loved the tummy tub, very easy to use after a c section and small too. I was lucky to get it off freecycle

ILoveCwtches · 20/04/2015 20:08

We had this.

It was fab and lasted until Dd could sit up herself. I appreciate this is now out of stock but I think John Lewis did a similar one.

The best bit was that you could chuck the fabric part in the wash if it looked a bit grubby. Also, it takes up next to no room.

BifsWif · 20/04/2015 20:11

Just bought a tummy rub on Amazon for less than £20 - brilliant reviews and my friend swears by hers.

BifsWif · 20/04/2015 20:11

Tummy tub*

Kim82 · 20/04/2015 20:13

We bought a baby bath but didn't use it. We bathe her in the kitchen sink, no having to bend over and get a sore back.

poocatcherchampion · 20/04/2015 20:13

Just put them in the bath with you.

MuddyWellyNelly · 20/04/2015 20:19

Poocatcher, how does that work with temperature? I think I'd be shivering in a bath at baby temperature - aren't they meant to be quite cool?

Guyropes · 20/04/2015 20:42

I hated leaning over the edge of the big bath tub to hold the baby. Even if a seat is used you will want your hands on the baby. I will be getting a cheap bath this time so I can do bathing on the table or the floor, whichever I find more comfy. I doubt reaching over the wall of the bath tub is any easier than dealing with a baby bath post Caesarian to be honest.

How often is bathing recommended these days?

CityDweller · 20/04/2015 22:22

Someone bought us a brilliant fold-up bath with a removable support/seat thing that goes in it. It was one of our most useful gifts as we live in a tiny flat with nowhere to put a normal baby bath. Once they can sit up you can use it without the seat.
