I know this is neither here nor there as they arent very expensive but what kind of baby baths do you reccomend? I havent got a whole lot of room to store a full sized baby basin type thing. So was wondering about the baby seats or the fold away ones? Xx

We had one of these which we loved because you could hold the baby at a more comfortable height, fill the baby bath from the bath taps then slide it away from them and take the plug out to empty it into the big bath.

It was quite big in our tiny bathroom but we stored it in the bath so it wasn't in the way most of the time.

We had one of these and it was fab

Someone at work recommended the Shnuggle baby bath. It looks good, I think that's what we're going to get.

Tummy tub, stood in the kitchen sink to save your back

Horispondle · 20/04/2015 23:24

Tummy tub is awful! I saw someone use it in neonatal and paid top£ to get one delivered in time from being discharged and DS hated it,and I hate it! It's so awkward to get your hands in! Definitely the cheap sponge support you use in the big bath, it's brilliant. We also have a cheap blow up bath which you can use anywhere in the house, hardly needs any water and folds away to nothing. I also use it as a makeshift play pen when I'm in the shower and will use it as a paddling pool when the weather gets better.

tresfatigue · 20/04/2015 23:27

Post section I could sit on my knees and lean over the bath okay, though it did hurt my back a bit anyway. Lifting anything remotely heavy was worse. So to be honest in my experience reaching over the wall of the bath tub was easier than dealing with a baby bath. Bathed friends baby in her baby bath for her once and it was quite hard tipping the water out. The one with plug hole built in looks good though. And Goldmandra will keep that one in mind for any future dc's, defo looks easier on the back.

Guyropes · 20/04/2015 23:39

I concede to tres fatigué's greater experience in the post section baby bathing department. I see your point, it's your back that gets it when you're leaning over the bathtub, not your tummy.

My dd is 10 weeks old. We purchased this having seen the reviews on Amazon.

It has been a great buy. She has a bath every night and it really calms her down before bed. She can now sit in this without us supporting her head due to the support in the middle. She really enjoys it.

The Angelcare bathos amazing, have used it from day one and my baby is now 14 weeks and she loves it. It's hands free for me and she's totally safe. It's brilliant.

Tummy tub. Both of mine have LOVED it. Good for helping bring up wind as well. Got mine on eBay.

catellington · 21/04/2015 11:19

I got one from asda, think it was 4.99 and really useful. Not as big as some others so easy to fill quickly and baby loved it!

Number3cometome · 21/04/2015 11:54

Sink or in the bath with me / OH

Hellohellohowareyou · 21/04/2015 20:18

Another vote for the tummy tub. DS loved it and it really helped him get his wind up too, he always let out a massive burp in it!!

Hophop987 · 22/04/2015 11:57

We also loved tummy tub. Will be using with DC2 as well

The tummy tub just looks like a bucket to me..... what am I missing?

knittingirl · 22/04/2015 16:59

We just held him in the bath, or used one of the seats in the bath (borrowed from our neighbours). But then he only had a bath once a week or so :-S unless there was sick or poo everywhere - they don't really get that dirty. He's 20 months now and still only has a bath 1/2 times a week.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/04/2015 17:49

It is just a bucket really but my son loved it. He was premature and it's supposed to be good for them as they stay warm (water up to shoulders), gets the burps out, and they think it's the womb or something like that - he used to do some crazy positions in there when he was small enough!

Summerdaydreams · 22/04/2015 20:47

We had a little baby bath that went over the bath. From mothercare I think, really, really useful in the early days, no problems storing it, easy to fill and empty because it was already in/on the bath. Will get it again this time around.

Roseybee10 · 22/04/2015 22:56

I had one for dd1 and she HATED The bath. I never bothered with dd2 and just took her in the big bath with me. She absolutely loves the bath. Not sure if it's coincidence.

GwenStacy · 22/04/2015 23:13

We had the tiptoes ones as well and loved it. I liked that the support made it easier to wash her without feeling like you needed 3 hands and when she got a bit older she loved lying back in it - the support meant she didn't slip down. I know people generally don't like baby baths on here it seems, but I would really recommend that one :)
