Ugh!! About 5weeks in and so no one at work knows. Started off the day with an almost-migraine & now I'm feeling very green with morning sickness!

Dear god how am I going to get through the rest of the morning/day/future days??Sad

Regular grazing helped keep the nausea at bay for me. I found at your stage rich tea biscuits helped but then had to move to more substantial stodge. Try not to let your tummy get hungry-what you graze on to achieve that is your choice. Good luck x

applecore0317 · 16/04/2015 11:37

Root ginger biscuits are good for nausea

PurpleRose864 · 16/04/2015 11:54

I work in a supermarket and struggled so bad but polo mints and sips of water got me through. Try not to get hungry makes the feeling worse. Hope it doesn't last

Emerald33 · 16/04/2015 12:04

Came on here to see if there was any advice for exactly this situation! Sitting at my own desk generally feeling rotten. I'm 9 weeks in and have had to tell my boss, which has helped a bit. Fresh air (if you have a lunch break where you can go out) and sugar free Ribena helps me a bit.

mrshjb · 16/04/2015 12:17

I found salty crisps really helped me. That and lots of water. I did end up laid on the toilet floor a few times thinking I couldn't get through the rest of the day though!!

Skiptonlass · 16/04/2015 13:23

It is grim isn't it? I bought a load of sickbags and used them at the office.

I found the less I ate the worse it got. Try just one mouthful every ten minutes of whatever (really, anything) you can keep down. Even if it's a teaspoon of flat cola.

TwinkleTee · 16/04/2015 13:32

Oatcakes and crisps were a lifesaver for me! Like other people have said, make sure you are not hungry as you feel worse. Also I found that eating some protein kept me fuller for longer so I also snacked on sliced cheddar and smoked ham which helped. Good luck! It's a pretty awful time

Psipsina · 16/04/2015 13:35

Hi, I had HG with all three. Try not to worry about eating but keep a supply of something liquid, maybe fizzy, works for some, others prefer still - water doesn't always help but keeping your blood sugar up with something like Ribena or Fanta or anything really, worked a little bit for me.

Then when you can, have something proper to eat, whatever you fancy, which may change every single day.

Also try to stay hydrated as letting it slip can make you feel a lot worse.

Good luck and congrats Flowers

Mrscog · 16/04/2015 13:36

I had to basically eat something every 15 mins, a few crisps, breadstick, apple whatever. Sweet stuff made it worse, and I found it really hard to drink anything much at all. Bleugh. It does more often than not get better though Flowers.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 16/04/2015 15:11

I went with Coke, popcorn and hard fruit sweets. The fruit sweets were particularly good - I found that if I was constantly swallowing as I sucked on the sweet it kept things moving downwards (rather than upwards)!

Bellabutterfly2014 · 17/04/2015 06:49

I'm 8 weeks and in the same situation, it's really difficult with nobody knowing - I feel so tired and sick all the time, laid in bed now dreading going in, they aren't very friendly they are Definately "people I work with" rather than "workmates" as such;
I find I'm better snacking on things little & often, savoury works best for me but I'm really worried about gaining an excessive amount of weight by munching too much xxxx

IfYouWereARiverIdLearnToFloat · 17/04/2015 07:06

I'm approaching 5 weeks too & been getting mild nausea but yesterday thought I was going to have to pull the car over to throw up. I bought some Ritz crackers to keep in the car & some ice lollies for home.

hestialou · 17/04/2015 07:32

Drink and eat lots to avoid nausea, also I was sick a lot and had to excuse myself from meetings, conf calls etc, and was convinced everyone had guessed, but they didn't. When I announced at 14 weeks no one had a clue, so don't worry they probably don't notice!!!

ZenNudist · 17/04/2015 07:43

Eat something? Toast, lots of toast.

Crumbelina · 17/04/2015 09:29

Sipping cold Lucozade was a godsend for me. Sorry you're going through this!

mrsdos · 17/04/2015 10:54

Thanks feeling like that is awful.

Try some dry crackers or polos and lots of water.

I had non stop nausea for a good 12/14 weeks and these helped me. I'm sure lots of people have mentioned before but it does get better Smile

u32ng · 17/04/2015 11:20

Thank you for all the advice so far. I am going to take it ALL on board as I have a feeling I'm going to struggle this pregnancySad DC1's pregnancy was a complete breeze! I felt just like me but with a bit of nausea in the afternoon. This is a nasty shock in comparison.

psipsina I have no idea how you managed to find the strength to have a second and 3rd when suffering HG. Well done you!

After yesterday's post I ended up in bed (still here!) as I don't think my migraine was finished with me. Hoping most of this is down to that...

Ooh and Fox's Glacier Fruits or any boiled sweets.

LeonoraFlorence · 17/04/2015 14:22

Poor you :( I found lemonade and very sour sweets were the only things that I could stomach. Even those were a struggle though.

emzii206 · 17/04/2015 19:13

I had HG and the only thing that didn't make me hurl was water with loads of ice in it Confused...every little smell would set me off. I once threw up in the big crate that they use in Tescos to store all the potatoes because a women who walked past me was wearing a vile perfume!! Hopefully you will be lucky and it will pass within a few weeks :) hope you feel better soon!

Mrsleighdelamare · 17/04/2015 19:14

Although I was only actually sick a handful of times, I felt particularly sick for most of my second pregnancy if I got hungry. I ate a lot of cheese sandwiches. I'd read that they were a good alternative to sugary snacks, but I suspect the advice wasn't 'Eat a cheese sandwich between each meal'.

With all three pregnancies I found that being hungry just made me feel worse.

I also had low blood sugar, which added to the joy.

I would go with the 'eat whatever you think you might be able to stomach' advice however. Keep something sweet and something salty to hand? Cover all bases.

ALittleFaith · 17/04/2015 19:16

I found eating helped but that often made me sick. I found I could keep food down if I had an ice lolly beforehand.

MummaGiles · 17/04/2015 19:19

I found that cold sparkling water got me through the first trimester. I lived on the stuff. Also plenty of carbs - bread, pasta, biscuits, crisps. Not healthy but really stopped the nausea. I also hid in the toilets a lot.

dreamygirl · 17/04/2015 20:05

I SO sympathise with this, I went through exactly the same. As others have said, keeping eating is often a good way of stemming the urge to throw up even if it doesn't stop the nausea altogether. Anything you can contemplate eating, healthy or not - I lived on jam sandwiches for weeks during my second pregnancy, with my midwife's full support! Also I found sweets like skittles and haribos helped, especially the sour ones. I wish you all the best.

Alanna1 · 17/04/2015 20:08

Eat eat eat. Whatever you can keep down. Dry toast? Crackers? I sipped hot chocolate. And you know, if all else fails, tell. I really struggled with DC1; with DC2 I told my bosses at 6 weeks and they were so supportive. Not everyone is that lucky though, and I guess it helped that I'd pulled in loads of work between DC1 and DC2. But with hindsight I wished I said with DC1.
