possible delayed miscarriage or just am I just worrying?

Hello everyone, I'm new on here and was hoping to get some advice from people who have had similar experiences......

So I tested on March 1st on my Husband's birthday with a Clear Blue early detection test....overjoyed to find a 2-3 week result! It's my first pregnancy and didnt know what to expect with all those new aches and body changes etc. I am a regular 28 dayer and am guessing we concieved around the 11th feb which would have made the test result correct. I had a little sharp pain that seemed to shoot up my cervix into my ueterus a couple of weeks after I tested, phoned the midwife who said I should go to A&E to get it checked.

They took bloods etc and hormones suggested I was 7 weeks which was correct to me, all other tests were fine. Booked in and had early pregnancy scan two days later whilst spotting very lightly (my mum bled fairly heavily throughout her pregnancy with me) the scan was TV and showed only the gestational sac and yolk sac, they said you may have the dates wrong or you may be a little slow with develloping but everything looked fine. They saw me again 10 days later (yesterday) when i was 9 weeks from my LMP and they saw an embryo that measured only 4mm, the lady said that the good news is that there has been growth, but the bad news is there is no heartbeat yet. Again she said perhaps I had my dates wrong, but if I had my dates wrong then why did the test indicate how far gone I was along with my blood HGC levels tallying with the Clear Blue result?
I have to go back next week when I will be 10 weeks, she said that if there is no heartbeat at the next scan then it is most likely a delayed miscarriage :(
Iam looking at both pros and cons: there has been growth between the two scans, but no heartbeat yet, some women measure small and then catch up later by week 12, I'm not far off week 12 and only 4mm though, although I'm spotting my mum did too very heavily with me........
Just so lost, cant help but think the worst but the facts dont look good, I suppose there is always hope, its not over till its over ay?

Sorry you're going through this. I know how horrible the waiting game is. I posted a thread a few weeks ago as I'd had bleeding and was then scanned at 7 weeks. Yolk sac visible but fetal pole was tiny & no heartbeat detectable. Embryo measured at 6 weeks so a bit behind my dates. Went back 10 days later & heartbeat was present, also measured bang on for dates.
Do you know if there was a fetal pole?
I wouldn't worry too much about the dates on the pg tests, I don't think they're particularly reliable. If you had the hcg blood tests 2 days apart and the levels doubled then that's a good sign.

Hi, thanks for the message .... yes the waiting game is horrid and I'm so glad that you had a positive result :) I believe there was a fetal pole yes, but as like your previous situation there was no heartbeat at 4mm. I'm going back next week 7 days later and there 'should' be 7mm growth, so fingers crossed for growth and heartbeat. I will post to update on outcome good-or-bad. Perhaps the dates are wrong and i ovulated a week or two later than I thought I did, but I cant get my head around the conception indicator test being wrong as the levels if HGC in my blood made the Clear Blue test accurate :/ frustrating!!! Time will tell xXx congrats on your happy outcome though :)

I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant but I've had a horrible time like you aswell. I got my positive 2 days after my full period so I assumed I'd misscarried. Went for a scan and they detected the sac but no pole no heartbeat but they said I was measuring 6 weeks, which didt really match up with my dates. I then had alot of bleeding on and off, clots also, had another scan and they found the heartbeat but again my dates were way behind so I though I would misscarry. Last week I had more clots and blood and I though, this is it, it's happening, I'm losing the baby, went for a scan and they found the heartbeat the pole and you could make out the shape of the baby, amazing. Also she measured how far along I was and they are now spot on. Sorry for rambling on but there is always hope. I hope you get good news, it's an awful time, keep posting on here, it certainly helped me get through it.

thanks you for your message, im pleased you had a happy outcome too! today i've had bleeding that has been worse than any of the previous spotting, congealed blood which has put some serious doubt in my head, i'm tempted to go to hospital to get my bloods done to check my hormone levels as i'm not due to go for my 3rd epd scan till thursday, and could really do with a reassuring blood test.....what does everyone think i should do?

I don't think you would gain a quicker answer from the blood tests. You would need two, 48 hrs apart so realistically you wouldn't get the results till at least Thur anyway. You may be better sitting tight until then as hard as it us.
If you start to bleed heavily you could always call your GP or go to A&E. You might be able to get an earlier scan - though you will get a clearer answer one way or the other if you can wait till Thur.

Awww I've only just seen this. Go to the A and E, I'm pretty sure they will see you there. Ri g your epu again and say it's worse or pay for a private scan if you can afford it. I nearly paid for one a few weeks back because I couldn't stand the waiting but I managed to hold on.

Thanks for the messages guys,.... I am just sitting tight as everyone keeps suggesting, only 2 days to go! No matter the outcome I will post on here to let you all know :)
The wait is horrid and you guys are right about the blood tests, by the time I have had two done it would be Thursday anyways, fingers and toes crossed I have caught up to my dates and find heartbeat by then, like you guys did.

I'm tempted to send an email to the people who design the NHS website regarding those 'slides' that tell and show you in pictures what size the baby is at how many weeks gestation, I want to suggest to them that to help prevent women like us from thinking the worst, because our babys seem no way near the stage they should be according to their slides, that they should write underneath (Note to all pregnant women, these images are only guidelines and every woman and pregnancy is different so please dont be allarmed if your babys progress doesn't match our images)

Pardon my grammar and punctuation, it's not great...but what do you think?

just updating those who have commented on my post as promised.....had my 3rd scan today.....not good news i'm afraid, fetal pole has gone and only yolk sac left. They said it's a delayed miscarriage and that i should expect to go into 'labor' very soon, passing large clots. She said to expect pain, and I am to contact them Monday to let them know if I have passed the large clots or not, if not then I am to have a D&C :( not the outcome I was hoping for..... so upset, just want it to be over, not know that I have the worst to come. seems so wrong that I have miscarried as my due date seemed so perfect! My gran was a Scorpio born in Nov, my Mum was a Scorpio born Nov 8th, I was a Scorpio born Nov 2nd, and our baby was due Nov 5th (another Scorpio) ....
so very sad ....... thank you to all who replied, your comments really helped xxx

So sorry Paws, you must be feeling so sad. There is a very good miscarriage board under body and soul that has a thread on dealing with practicalities. Worth a read if you want to. Remember there is no time line for grief and surround yourself with support x

Paws so sorry to hear this.
If you don't want to go through the pain and waiting for it to happen naturally then you could ask for an ERPC - I had one on Thursday last week and I felt much better (well as can be expected) once it was over.
I should have been 12 weeks and my body tried to go into the labour thing and I ended up in A&E on gas and air but the next morning my cervix had closed and nothing else was happening. Scan showed baby's heart stopped around 9 weeks and it's so so sad. Let yourself cry and take your time to heal.

So sorry your going through this I went through the same thing 2 years ago I had the d&c it wasn't nice bit I'd preferred it to going through the natural miscarriage. It's an awful time you & dh it took a long time for Me to get over it or try again for another baby. I've now got 6wk old ds but I'll never forget the mmc. Big hugs to you xx

What, Aventure, Willow and Moomoob....thank you all for your comments and sorry it took me so long to reply. Have been cramping slightly with the odd contraction and what is now regular light bleeding, but haven't really got into the main bit yet....been two days now...just want to get to the labour part so its done, I don't fancy a D&C and want to avoid it totally if possible, i know it's not for everyone but I feel it's right for me. Just wondered how long befor it kicks off for real rather than hints of it? 'Moomoob' congrats on new baby, 'Adventure' I'm sorry you had such an awfull time and hope you are feeling better, also thanks for the thread I will take a look. 'What' thank you for the suggestion I will have a read.
All of you have helped me so it's greatly apprieciated .... just playing the waiting game now x

Ally. Sorry to hear your news. I went through a MMC last year. You need to look after yourself.
Some practical thoughts: Tuck yourself up at home with a hot water bottle and make sure you have painkillers if you need the. I was lucky and it didn't hurt as much as period pains but I think other people find it more uncomfortable. My MC kept starting and stopping and I ended up having a D&C as I wanted things to be finished. You will also feel tired and run down afterwards so take vitamins and take things easy as I went down with every cold going.

I've been through this too, it's horrible. I had two episodes of severe pain and bleeding, but still needed a d&c as it hadn't moved anything. I actually wished I'd done it sooner, as it was over within half an hour and I felt fine afterwards and went home. If you do need one it will be fine. Allow p,entry of time at the moment to rest, and to come to terms with what's happened. Thinking of you Flowers

Mine was Dec 2007 and I got pregnant again in May 2008, she's now a happy, healthy 6 year old. There IS hope, and as horrible as this is now for you, it will get better, and I'm sure things will happen for you soon.

Thanks guys, things are finally over so am just recovering now. Feeling much better now, took a while to hit me, but when it did it hit me hard! Here's to a brighter future, and here's to the little ones we all loved and lost xxx

I have stopped bleeding (almost anyways) only traces left...i was told to wait for next period before trying again, but I just can't wait that long, my doc even told me to wait at least 5months...the lady who moved in above us is pregnant, and she moved in just as we found out we were pregnant. Now loosing ours at 10.5 I am just dreading hearing her newborn crying when mine was so cruelly taken from me....does this make sense to anyone? It seems its become a race against the clock now Sad
