DH is keen to make a list of what we will need to buy over the coming months in preparation for the new arrival. We are way off buying anything as I am only 10 weeks but DH just wants to make a list so that we can set a budget and have some ideas of what we will be buying.
We had a Moses basket with our older two children but neither stayed in them for more than 8 weeks as both babies were quite big and they were not comfortable in the basket. DH mentioned getting a Moses basket (we haven't kept anything so are starting from scratch) but I think we should go for a space saver cot in our room and then a cot bed in the nursery. We plan to have a carrycot for the pram which should suffice for daytime naps in the early weeks.
What is everyone else doing for sleeping arrangements in the first six months?

BumWad the top of the snuzpod lifts off abc can be taken downstairs like Moses basket, that's what we are planning.

I've got a snuzpod and love it!

We'll be using an ikea cot without the side on as a makeshift co sleeper. Then when it moves rooms it'll stay in that cot or we'll sell it and it will go on the lower bunk. Then a travel cot for when we go away. Some kind of swaddle thing too.

Possibly won't get a pram, if we do it'll be a Maclaren I expect.

Will need a breast pump. And a monitor. And a car seat. And some clothes. That's it I think!

Our plan is to rent the bednest for up to 6 months. At which point we will get a cot bed for their own room. Which by the way we are NOT spending time, energy or money doing up in anyway.

For downstairs we will have a small baby pen - because we also have a little pooch! And inside pen then can go down for naps inside Moses basket or something.

Plus - car seat, monitor, buggy, clothes and toileteries.

I've bought an nct bednest on ebay-
Expensive but they hold their value well so hoping to sell it on again for similar price! DC1 hated the moses basket but liked the pram carry cot so we'll use one or both of them for daytime naps. However my DC1 did go into cotbed at night from about 10 weeks.

We pre-ordered a Bednest last week, with new matteress and sheets it came to a grand total of £79!

That was to rent not buy!

I can heartily recommend the cocoonababy nest www.johnlewis.com/red-castle-cocoonababy-nest-white/p429422?navAction=jump They aren't cheap but it worked brilliantly for us as we put it in her eventual cot next to us, took it with us on trips away and put it between us when staying in other people's beds and brought it downstairs for naps. It lasted our daughter till she was nearly 8 months though she was a preemie and I never once worried about her rolling over in her sleep etc. because she was strapped in.

all my babies have gone straight into a cot as i never had the budget for a moses basket, or at least could never justify to cost for the really short time of using it. we got rid of everything as number 3 was meant to be the final baby so we are just getting a basic £35 cot from ikea. we'll spend a bit more on the mattress though. i would personally not recommend a co-sleep or anything similar. I was a single parent with my dd so she slept in my bed. when it came to moving her into her own...... absolute nightmare! I've always found be strict at the beginning will serve you much better in the years to come. but obviously each to their own x

I'm planning on getting the cocoonababy as well - lots of great reviews on John Lewis and Amazon, and lots of friends have recommended it to me.

We bought a second hand Moses basket, threw away the stand and DH, knocked up a sturdy MDF base which made the top of the basket slightly higher than the bed (so I could roll over and peer at DD without getting up), she slept in her pram carry cot during the day. By 4 months she'd out grown them both and we were just disturbing each other so she got shifted to a cot bed in her nursery which she loves. I started her in sleeping bags at about 3 months as she kept kicking the covers of. They are brilliant now she caterpillars around her cot and I don't worry about her getting cold or tangled in anything.

We're thinking of a Red Castle Cocoonababy - looks similar to the sleepyhead - maybe just a little more kinda ergonomic? My sister had one and loved it.

Only just pregnant but thinking about logistics - last time we had a moses basket which I hated and which she grew out of in 6 weeks, but we were also living in a different flat where we could fit the cot into our bedroom. This time, I'm short on bedroom space, but also want something aesthetically pleasing whilst still being safe. The NCT bednest issue a while back has put me off...
