Earliest you felt movement in your first pregnancy?

Just that reality. I'm being incredibly impatient and just wondering when the earliest possible time is that I might start to feel movement. I'm currently 13 weeks. Thought I felt something the other day but well aware it was probably wind.

So, when was the earliest you felt movement?

Hi. This is my first baby and I first felt definite movement at 16 weeks, at 19w could feel it from the outside x

applecore0317 · 24/02/2015 22:53

16 weeks I got tickling feelings, first kick type feelings at 18 weeks, felt like popcorn popping inside me, not butterflies. Then by 19 and a half weeks I could feel the movement on the outside and DH felt it too.

She has always been nestled right up front and my placenta is posterior so think thats why I felt them when I did :)

Fluttering/palpitations in my lower tummy around 18 weeks which gradually got stronger over next 2-3 weeks. DH only really felt it from the outside from around 22-24 weeks. I'm pregnant with twins and both have anterior high placentas which might explain why it was later.

17 weeks for me Smile

Tickly feelings from 13 weeks with my PFB.

Honestly! Nobody believes me.

mrsdos · 24/02/2015 23:12

snapping I am about 13 weeks too and certain I have felt 'something' its hard to describe but kind of a tickly, swirling that is too low to be wind.. My dh is convinced its all in my head as its so early!

eastcoastmum2014 · 25/02/2015 06:04

Little flutterings started about 17/18 weeks :) ....didn't feel proper kicks until about 21 weeks xx

m33r · 25/02/2015 07:20

18+1. Big kicks that dh felt (and saw) too

Impatientwino · 25/02/2015 07:59

Small flutters from around 17 weeks and then consistent kicks from around 22 weeks!

Snappingcrayons · 25/02/2015 08:06

Apple, I have a posterior placenta too, so hoping I will feel movement early.

Not until I was 20 weeks, OP. My mum kept giving me worried 'oh, not yet' looks! Hmm

I think you feel them later with the first simply because the early movements do really feel like little gurgles in your tummy so are difficult to detect unless you've had them before.

Skeppers · 25/02/2015 08:15

I'm 16+3 and I've felt some strange bubbly sensations in my lower belly but I have just put it down to wind, although no farts have followed...

I've been sceptical about anything to do with pregnancy since a much more knowledgeable person than me on MN told me that she thought it hilarious when mums-to-be lovingly stroked their 'baby bumps' at this stage when, ultimately, it's just intestines and poo where everything is shifting up to make room for the (actual) baby!

sarkymare · 25/02/2015 08:17

16 weeks for me. I didn't feel any flutters but I had the popcorn sensation. By 18 weeks DP could feel the kicks from the outside

Number3cometome · 25/02/2015 10:16

DS1 - 20 weeks
DD1 - 11 weeks
DS2 - 12 weeks, then very quiet for about 3 weeks, even now not very active but feeling the odd kick and movement (19+3)

shitebag · 25/02/2015 10:19

I felt proper fidgetty movements at about 21 weeks with DC1 but realised with DC2 that I felt fluttery movements around 15 weeks but didn't realise what they were first time round haha

SueV14 · 25/02/2015 10:20

17+3 today and nothing so far except for strange little pains here and there in different parts of my lower belly. Totally bearable but rather unpleasant so I do hope it is trapped wind rather than baby movement. Hmm

THEworrywart · 25/02/2015 10:20

Tickly feelings around 12-15 weeks in your first pregnancy are generally an increase in blood flow they you're feeling.

THEworrywart · 25/02/2015 10:20

That*

Choccywoccydodah · 25/02/2015 10:22

14 weeks. It was like a butterfly sort of feeling. Funnily enough I was watching OBEM at the time :)

Choccywoccydodah · 25/02/2015 10:23

(I was told it was baby btw)

When you know movement, you know movement!

Just giving medical opinions! I said generally I never said everyones.

This is not a sarcastic or rude answer at all, genuine question - are you a medical professional?

Every midwife I see or consultant seems to have a different opinion on whether you can feel early or not.

I guess there's not much arguing when you are seeing your bean wiggle on the screen and feeling it at the same time Smile

THEworrywart · 25/02/2015 11:40

Yes I am :) my entire family are doctors (trying to hide a pregnancy from them especially a gynae is hard work)
