Looking at the Chicco next2me one, but just wondered how good they are?

I have gone for the snuz pod as seemed to have very good reviews (and resale value on e-bay...Smile). I haven't had my baby yet so can't comment on how good it is but the concept is the same. I saw the next2me in mothercare and thought it looked good but the mattress seemed to be very hard to me.

sleepybee · 09/02/2015 13:00

I love the Snuzpod but just don't know if I can justify the price. Also still need to get up for nappy changes who will invent a bedside changing table with nappy disposal unit so we never need to leave the bed Wink

I really rate them and used one with DC2 and will with DC3. It just is a nice way to almost co-sleep and makes night feeding really easy. :)

I used a Troll but I really wanted the Bednest. Very expensive!

HazleNutt · 09/02/2015 13:20

I had the Fabimax, from Germany (they deliver to UK too) and loved it, was so easy to just grab the baby, feed and roll back. I liked the Fabi as it's a bit bigger than most co-sleepers and DS was a very long baby, would have grown out of most in a second.

Oh and I would recommend something where you have an adjustable or low 4th side that you can put up once they start moving - DS started rolling out of the co-sleeper when he was a few moths old, and ended up under our covers in the mornings. Several have a full 4th side, making it into a regular cot, but then the co-sleeping advantage is lost.

Newlywed56 · 09/02/2015 13:25

We have decided to go for the next to me aswell, first baby so don't have any comments about it but very much looking forward to putting our baby in itSmile. We ordered from boots online as it was the same price but as part of the baby club you get a lot of points back on your boots card which helped get some other essentials!

TeaandHobnobs · 09/02/2015 13:48

We have this - Saplings Space Saver Cot - built without the dropside, and tied to our bed frame. With DS it came to exactly the same height as our mattress; this time it is slightly low, so rather than make a new set of holes for the base (which is totally doable), we are getting a new mattress to go on top, which will bring it up to the right height.
We only got the Saplings one because we had limited space in our old room. Friends have done the same with the Ikea cot (the sniglar?), which is much bigger. Like a pp said, then you have the option of putting the 4th side on later and using as a normal cot.

I hired a bednest from the bednest company - £100 for 6months. Best thing we got for dc2 as it's meant I've got so much more sleep than with dc1 when we just had a Moses basket.

Autumn2014 · 09/02/2015 14:01

these look lovely. not heard of them before

geekymommy · 09/02/2015 14:55

I have an Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper. Used it for DD, going to use it again for DS when he is born in July.

boatrace30 · 09/02/2015 15:25

Also planning to get a 'Next2Me' (from Boots for the same reason as it doesn't seem to be cheaper than RRP anywhere). Looks really handy and easy to use for travel too - I'm also hoping it will be easy to move downstairs for daytime sleeps.

Tranquilitybaby · 09/02/2015 16:54

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. X

I've got an Arm's Reach co-sleeper, not used it yet as currently 29 weeks but it was given to us by my SIL who swears by it. The only issue was difficulty in getting a new mattress for it, but have now had one made to fit.

wigfieldrocks · 09/02/2015 19:20

I am using the next to me for my 9 week old ds. It's great, I highly recommend it, I have 3 boys and the first two co slept with me. I was keen not to get into that habit this time but I did want ds3 to be close to me so this is perfect.

boatrace30 · 09/02/2015 19:28

wigfield - is it easy to take the bassinet on and off to use elsewhere?

pinkie87 · 09/02/2015 21:07

Totally stuck between the bednest and the snuzpod.

Onsera3 · 09/02/2015 21:16

Used the Fabimax one and loved it. It has a bridge so if there is any width to the frame of your bed on the side you can still ensure no gap btw mattress.

I tried the bednest but it couldn't get close enough to my mattress because of that issue with my bed frame.

Also please be warned the bed nest is tiny. The way the sides curve around mean that it might not be long before you are having to work hard not to bang little one's head on that. I wouldn't get if you think your baby may be large or it might not be great past 3 months.

Allstoppedup · 09/02/2015 21:24

For DS1 we ended up with an impromptu one by taking the side off our crib and pushing it against the bed.Blush

Pregnant with DC 2 now and I'm going to hire the bednest, they seem great and are apparently quite generous in sizing so they remain comfy for longer and the reviews I've read are all excellent!

Allstoppedup · 09/02/2015 21:26

Ooh onsera is it really tiny? I talking to (admittedly one of their sales) people today who assured me that it was morr generously sized than most co-sleepers! Oh dear! Sad

Onsera3 · 10/02/2015 07:59

Have you ever had to use a bassinet on a plane? Bednest are about 10cm longer than one of those. When I took my DS long haul at 4mo he could just fit in a plane bassinet.

The problem is moving them in and out with those wooden sides curling around- your gap is only 70 something cms. A boy in the 90s on the centiles is 60+ cm by the 8 week check. So you have to line them up to get them through that gap without bumping their head- while you are half asleep.

My friend insisted on buying one recently and regretted it as it only lasted around 3 mo for her big boy.

If you have a 50th centile little girl you may get much more use from it.

Tranquilitybaby · 12/02/2015 00:35

Think I've decided on the Chicco next2me one, thanks all.

What size bedding would I need for it can anyone advise please?

tranquility I too have the chicco next to me, not used yet as baby due in April. apparently sheets are difficult to find as its an odd size but there is a lady on eBay who makes them to fit in a range of colours. if you search on eBay should come up, think her online shop is called cosy tots. I ordered from her you get a set of 2 and lovely material. Smile

HazleNutt · 12/02/2015 09:18

according to google, the mattress is 86x50cm, which is a bit of an odd size indeed - crib sheets too small, normal travel cot too large.

Brandysnapper · 12/02/2015 09:24

My ds slept in his bednest till he was 6 months old. Moved him out of it because he could sit up, rather than because too small.

bronya · 12/02/2015 09:27

Have the snuzpod. Was worth every penny.
