I am 10 weeks pg with 3rd, I did not feel like this when I was having my previous DC I would definitely remember the misery.
I haven't had a "normal" meal in 6 weeks, I'm struggling to eat anything on a daily basis and when I do I'm fighting to keep it down.
DP keeps informing me that I need to eat like he's all of a sudden become a fucking expert Hmm
I miss feeling hungry or looking forward to cooking a lovely meal, the thought fills me with dread
Sorry to be a moany bitch but no one understands or seems to give a toss really
I MISS YOU FOODSad

Exactly the same, I'm 13+3 and I really miss eating. I can manage small portions now but still aren't enjoying anything and haven't ate meat for my whole pregnancy as that's the worst culprit.
I had toast this morning and have been sick since Hmm I really miss my food.
I've found I can only really eat crisps, crackers and ice pops. Hoping it soon passes for you. Mine eased a little at 12 weeks, now it's really only one meal a day I can't keep down.

hopefull2424 · 22/01/2015 10:54

Hi, I totally understand and send you all the hugs in the world. I'm 14 weeks with my 3rd.
I cannot keep anything down, I miss food and a normal existence.
I have been gp today who said I'm now showing dehydration. So am on new sickness pills and bed rest for a few days.
I really hope your better soon
Xx

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 22/01/2015 10:55

Hi, I'm 31 weeks with my first, I had morning sickness until about 16 weeks and basically survived on dry crackers, dry cornflakes and bananas. Oddly I could drink orange juice so figured I was at least getting some goodness from that.

My DP was also firmly in the camp of having to eat something so just to shut him up I'd eat a very small amount of dinner, and it would be plain so jacket potato, plain pasta or rice and chicken.

The other thing I found was pregnacare vitamins made it worse, once I swapped to santagen mother to be the sickness eased a lot.

ComeClose · 22/01/2015 11:00

Sympathies. I had nausea until 18 weeks with Dc1 and full blown hypermesis until 22 weeks-ish with DC2.

Utterly grim.

Eventually, I was able to keep down small sips of ice cold full fat coke and a few ready salted crisps, then graduated to half slices of toast and then small portions of plain meals (roast chicken and mashed potato was one of the few things I could keep down).

Its really miserable and I feel your pain! Are you keeping hydrated? If youre not able to hold down water or juice, go and see your GP. I had to send a few days in hospital on a drip at about 12 weeks into DC2 pregnancy, as I was quite dehydrated.

Take care of yourself x

FreeButtonBee · 22/01/2015 11:06

agree with crisps - ready salted or salt and vinegar. I think my BP is totally shot in the early days and the salt really really helped. I keep a bag in my handbag and DH is totally banned (on pain of having to find a 24 hour garage and get me more) from eating them.

ice lollies is another good call. But if you really can't eat at least enough to make up one meal a day in total (even if a small one), then you need to go to the doctor. It's your third PG, they will know that you are really suffering and will try to help. Cry if you think it will help!

Openup41 · 22/01/2015 11:13

My sympathies are with you. I had to be be hospitalised in both of my pregnancies. I was sick for the first four months full on then it subsided. Grim does not even begin to explain it......

It feels like forever then it ends.

Just eat what you can. I liked popcorn, crisps, cereal.

Honsandrevels · 22/01/2015 11:15

If you can't keep fluid down then you need to be assessed by a GP or midwife to check you don't have ketones. If you do then you might be admitted to hospital and rehydrated with a drip.

I had hyperemesis twice and it is just awful. However, eating something little and often does help the nausea. Honestly, I know it is the last thing you want to do but nibbling on a ritz cracker or a few crisps does help. Fizzy drinks do stay down better than just water. I've no idea why, and I don't really like them normally.

Also if you do have hyperemesis insist on trying all the anti sickness drugs going until you find one or a combination that suits you.

Hope you feel better soon.

Openup41 · 22/01/2015 11:16

After dc2 I decided I did not want to experience pregnancy ever again.

losthermind · 22/01/2015 11:28

Thanks for the support and tips ladies, its nice to know I'm not battling this alone
I went to the gp last week my blood pressure was low and he prescribed me diaoralyte sachets
I'm at the midwife tomorrow so I am going to speak to her about it
I am sipping iced water, and trying to graze on little bits
I keep trying crackers and plain crisps, I just made some toast but couldn't face eating it
Its the smell of other foods in the fridge I can't bear as well
Chicken smells revolting as does anything that contains garlic, eggs are a no no
I'm sooooo sick of people telling me to eat ginger biscuits!!!! It doesn't work on me it gives me heartburn.
I've just switched my vitamamins from centrum pregnancy care to sanatogen mum to be so maybe that will help
DP was trying to force a homemade smoothie down my neck last night, it had all kinds of crap in it I just wanted to punch him in the face. The lack of energy is really grating on me and I feel dizzy every time I get up and walk about
I just really hope it subsides because I feel I may go bat shit crazy if I'm like this all the way through my pregnancy

Hugs OP. I remember how utterly miserable it is. I hope it eases soon.

Artandco · 22/01/2015 11:34

Try plain cooked chicken. I found it really stopped nausea compared to say bread which only stopped in temporarily

Cornberry · 22/01/2015 11:36

I sympathise massively. I'm 8 weeks and if I didn't know I was pregnant I'd be sure I was suffering from some monstrous disease. The worst part is craving foods you can't actually eat. Also I can sometimes only tell if something is going to be ok to eat by putting it in my mouth so OH is at his wit's end trying to feed me:( I find that I can only eat a select few things and the list is constant changing. Throwing up doesn't seem to depend on the food but the time of day or my movement. I'm signed off work and just lying in bed waiting for it to pass. It's so frustrating because I want to eat all the right things but can only manage a few. Here are a few things that I've found I can eat, on and off:
Mash with avocado and cottage cheese
Cereal
Yogurt
Bread and cheese
Hot chocolate
Those really weak Apple juice kids cartons (cawston press)
Nectarines are the most amazing thing right now and conference pears
Boiled egg
I have to mix water with fizzy water to be able to drink any water at all.
I can't swallow all the dry things people are recommending for some reason.

Good luck and I hope it passes soon xxx

Tranquilitybaby · 22/01/2015 11:37

It's so tough when you feel like that. Cream crackers, salt n vinegar or ready salted french fries crisps and iced water have been my saviour. Oh crumpets too. Little and often, don't get hungry.

Oh marmite crumpets!

losthermind · 22/01/2015 12:08

I was able to keep a bag of crisps down a few days ago, but now I feel sick when I eat them,
So there isn't even consistency on food that I can keep down at the moment
I have gone off meat also at the moment, but I am still painstakingly cooking for the family
If I didn't they would be eating al sorts of shit that DP would order from the takeaway
I'm going to try getting something fizzy and see how I go on with it and hopefully pick something that's edible

I really do sympathise, I lost 2 stone in the first 22 weeks with my 1st because everything that went down came straight back up again.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 22/01/2015 12:44

I remember walking around tesco trying to find something that I fancied eating, 45mins later my trolley contained orange juice and bananas Confused

ComeClose · 22/01/2015 14:10

The sodding ginger biscuits brigade, OP! Grin.

I tried, repeatedly gagged and miserably failed to eat ginger biscuits in both pregnancies. The smell of ginger made me nauseous, and to this day I HATE it.

hazel88 · 22/01/2015 14:38

I really feel for you. When I was being sick or felt sick (and before the delight of heartburn), I was sipping hot water with a slice of lemon which I found refreshing. I would get through tonnes of lemons. I was able to manage tiny portions of salted crisps, dorio crackers, ginger nut biscuits, anything light and fairly plain. Eventually the sicky feeling eased and I was able to gradually introduce small meals. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

hazel88 · 22/01/2015 14:40

Just read the comment about the ginger biscuits...woops! Blush

CheerfulYank · 22/01/2015 14:48

Oh honey.

It is the absolute worst. I'm 21 weeks with DC3. I was fine with DC1, and absolutely pinned to the ground with nausea with DC2. For about seven months. It was terrible.

I was really sick with this one too, but this time I didn't hesitate and demanded odansetron (zofran) immediately. It is a wonder as an anti nausea drug (I used one of my leftover pills recently to stop the norovirus in its tracks) but you have to be very careful and keep track of your poo because it can constipate you horribly.

I hate the "you just need to eat" people. Angry I remember the physician's assistant telling me a in the most condescending tone that I had to drink more, at a time when water tasted like liquid rust to me. I almost kicked him in the teeth.

I barely ate with DC2 (gained about trn lbs the whole pregnancy) and she was a big healthy girl (9 lbs 6 oz). Unless you're dangerously underweight before getting pregnant or if you can't hold any liquid down at all, your body will give the baby what it needs, I'm convinced. :)

Hope you feel better soon and do try odansetron if they will give it to you.

Honsandrevels · 22/01/2015 14:49

I was ok with the fridge but the smell of the cupboard where we keep tins, oils etc used to make my stomach turn over and sometimes vomit straight into the kitchen sink. Hideous.

Ritz crackers, cream crackers, crackerbreads (there's a theme here!), all quite bland and dry.

My mum suggested ginger biscuits after I was hospitalised with hyperemesis Hmm.

CheerfulYank · 22/01/2015 14:49

ten pounds

originalusernamefail · 22/01/2015 14:53

You have my sympathies OP, when I count back with DS I was sick from the day sperm met egg, until the day he was born (not what you want to hear I know Blush). It was the loneliest, longest 40 weeks and 6 days of my life!

My only advice is to completely ignore what you "should" be eating. I would force myself to eat meals, then throw up for hours afterwards. Eat what you can face and don't worry about it (for me it turned out to be milkshake, pickled onion monster munch and ice pops for 9 months). The baby will be fine as it takes what it needs from your bodies stores anyway.

I do know what you mean about missing food. I would be absolutely starving, cook up a whole meal, and then find I couldn't even look at it without retching, 'tis truly grim. Here's hoping you hit the magic 12 and get the whole second trimester glow thing and you and food will be together again.
