I am 18 weeks pregnant today and at 6am I woke to a very wet feeling in between my legs.... I went to the toilet and had what seemed to be the longest wee ever and noticed that my pj bottoms were literally soaked, all the inner thigh to my knee.... I really don't know what this could be, I smelt the wet patch but it didnt smell of anything at all. Could any one take a guess as to what this could be. I haven't really felt my little one move yet, this is my 3rd baby so I am hoping it will be anytime. I have felt the odd flutter but nothing lately. I last heard the heartbeat about 2 weeks ago. Now, I am a prone worrier. I don't have any medical appointments until the end of the month which is my 20 week scan, I will be 21 weeks by this point. Should I contact my midwife or should I just wait. It can't be waters breaking at this point could it. I hope not as this could only mean fatality

I would ring my midwife, yes. If you were that soaked and you're not sure what it was, it needs investigating.

MrsKCastle · 13/01/2015 09:52

I would contact your mw. If there is a chance that it was your waters, they might want you to come in and be checked out.

My waters broke at a similar gestation and soaked through to my jeans. I then continued to lose water when standing up from sitting down for a long time. It was clear to me that this was my waters as when I put a pad on there was a pinkish tinge similar to my first pregnancy. Get checked out, but unless your cervix is dilating, a speculum exam will not definitively show whether your waters have gone at this gestation, only a scan will show this. If they find baby's heartbeat, as they did in my case, it does not mean your waters have not gone. Be prepared for no-one to be too urgent/bothered about this as you rightly say, nothing can be done at this stage. I really hope this is not your waters.

Am 11 weeks and had exactly the same this morning. Am currently at local EPU awaiting a scan. Hope you can get a scan today and wish you the very best of luck that all is well.

It does sound like your waters have broken. Ring your midwife asap. Flowers

onthematleavecountdown · 13/01/2015 13:22

I wouldn't wait. Call up your hospital triage and get seen ASAP.

weeblueberry · 13/01/2015 14:06

When you did your wee did it feel like it was running out of you or that you actually had to 'push' to make it come out?

If the former definitely definitely push to be seen ASAP. No amount of muscle tightening will keep in waters so if it felt like you were trying to stop it and it kept flowing then it could likely be amniotic fluid.

Hope you've already been checked though and all is okay.

Tranquilitybaby · 13/01/2015 16:14

I hope all is ok. Thinking of you x

CheeseandGherkins · 13/01/2015 16:20

I would just go straight in to be checked out. It does sound like your waters. I'd insist on them checking my cervix in your position. My waters broke at around 21 weeks with ds2 and it was a scary time but he was ok and is now 8 years old.

Number3cometome · 13/01/2015 16:33

Hope you are ok OP Flowers

blackwidow74 · 13/01/2015 17:37

Hope all is well with you OP ... I'm a terrible sweater with the increase in body heat and often wake up saturated ... hope this is the case for you and not your waters!!

Hobby2014 · 13/01/2015 17:49

Hope all is ok OP.

sianilovesbeingamummy · 13/01/2015 20:28

Thankyou so much for your concern on this matter. I have just sat down now to check the computer, motherhood never stops no matter what difficulties we may be facing ey!!!
All went ok at the hospital, they were fantastic, so busy but yet saw me ASAP, did all relevant obs and listened into baby all before doing the all important internal examination..... cervix still intact and no sign of waters having gone. Been told it is just an abnormal increase in discharge which may have been set of by a number of things, such as running around after 4 kids aged 3 and under..... just to take it easy, when possible. Dad isnt on the scene so little more difficult at times.... time to put my feet up now though as it has been a tiring day.
Thanks again

Glad to hear you're ok OP!

Artandco · 13/01/2015 20:39

Is it your 3rd baby as mention in first post, or 5th baby as mention in last?

BigCatFace · 13/01/2015 21:09

Sigh.

blackwidow74 · 13/01/2015 21:35

4 under 3 and 1 on way????????

weeblueberry · 13/01/2015 22:04

OP might be a childminder?

sianilovesbeingamummy · 13/01/2015 22:10

Just to also clarify Dad not being on the scene comment is not a dig at the childrens Father, he is the Dad to all 3 we have just had some difficulties and differences and the relationship has broken down

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 13/01/2015 22:28

Glad all is well - I would def keep an eye on it though, as it sounds like it was quite a lot of fluid to be just discharge! Then I am a bit of a worrier!

ps don't feel you have to justify yourself and your personal circumstances to random strangers on the internet!
There seems to be a lot of bitchy/judgmental comments on the pregnancy board at the minute - perhaps it's the hormones!

it could have been a small hole in the sac that leaked some hind waters. They can seal over again and the water replenishes.
