Hello's all round!

tiger welcome and congratulations!! So delighted for you! Appreciate you might not feel fully ready to join us yet but if you need anything or have any questions, just say. My first few weeks of pregnancy were a real emotional rollercoaster - happiness, disbelief and fear all merging together. It wasn't really until I was in the second trimester that I started to think this baby might actually be real... And even now I wonder sometimes, in spite of the forceful kicks I get to remind me.

lady thanks for sharing the birth story - sounds pretty tough, but at least you avoided the emergency c - section. The epidural sounds like a god send.

chloe and lady I have been trying to imagine what life with a newborn will be like but I think the lack of sleep and any time to do many thing needs to be experienced to be believed.

gill guessing you might be in France by now. Hope you're thoroughly enjoying yourself now that you know that little bean is settled in well and growing.

bushy how are you doing? How does it feel being in the third trimester?
When is your baby shower ?

AFM I've had a hideous cold which has meant taking a few days off work but planning to go back in tomorrow. DH is at a conference in the us so it's been a bit lonely but at least restful. The main symptom has just been feeling so tired and worn out.
I did manage to get lost of bits and pieces for the baby at the weekend. Went into john lewis and they had a great nursery service, who were really helpful. Hopefully, we'll get the room wallpapered over the next few weeks and then all the new things can come in.
Do I remember correctly that a few people were off for a baby show this weekend?

pearlcrystal · 14/05/2015 20:40

Darn the bloody phone autocorrect - meant to say " the lack of sleep and no time to do any thing..."

Also feather hello and sorry for missing you off - crossed posts :-)

FluffyNut · 15/05/2015 16:26

afternoon ladies.
I'm off to the baby show this Sunday. planning on buying lot's including furniture, however the baby's room is currently filled with FIL stuff as he's in the process of moving. so might be spending tonight and tomorrow organising it and dropping hints to get it out.
Hope everyone is doing well and loving to hear from all the new mum's. stopped me freaking out a bit to see life on the other side x

RevoltingPeasant · 16/05/2015 20:04

Hello all :)

Tiger woo hoooooo!! So excited to see how things progress for you.

Lady sounds epic! But you got there! For me it got way easier after the 8 w mark.

Dodo was 16 w yesterday and is a delight! She is grasping things and putting them in her mouth and vocalising loads. Today pil came over and she growled at them continuously as they ate lunch Confused Grin she is also putting on weight well - nearly 11 lbs now! And a brilliant little sleeper, although am waiting for the 4mo sleep regression to hit.

This is a pic of her with her new dog teether.... She isn't teething yet but loves cramming into her mouth! And sequential shots of her having a wtf moment at a stuffed toy DSis bought her!

tigerdog · 17/05/2015 11:23

Thanks for the lovely good wishes but hold your horses everyone. Looks like a chemical pregnancy as test lines are fading away to nothing.

Hopefully I'll back soon. Good luck to you all in the meantime x

greatbigbushybeard · 17/05/2015 14:31

Really, really sorry if that's the case tiger, still hoping you'll be proven wrong. Right, need to get on. I've been doing schoolwork all morning in my dressing gown, need to actually get dressed & go shopping.

Gillster · 18/05/2015 15:36

How was the baby show Fluffy? Did you buy much?

FeatherFeather11 · 18/05/2015 19:30

Oh, tiger, I'm really sorry to read this. Hoping that it's not a chemical and sending you big love if it is. X

Right ladies, had my 31week midwife appt with different midwife. I asked to be weighed as my scales are broken. She then said oh that's quite a lot you'll need to be careful. She was saying I'd put on 15kg but actually it's 10kg since booking. I know this is at the upper end of the range they say you'll put on but I didn't think I was lardy. I am now thinking I've put on too much weight & need to watch it. I don't look fat, I have a normal sized bump, measuring appropriately, good blood pressure, urine, bloods etc. I know everyone is different and that I've nearly put on 2 stone and that this will increase but I'm just a bit concerned now. I am going to try to rein it in on the eating front & try to go for a walk each day. The hunger etc isn't so bad but up to about 20 weeks it was awful & if I got hungry I would feel sick. I am still eating normally & still have room for food. I know I have been eating cake if we've had it in the staffroom etc but maybe I will try to be more mindful. DH says I look fine & friends have said I look like me but with a bump. Anyway do share your experiences & make this fatty bum bum feel better or tough love, whichever you prefer. I feel hungry now but trying not to eat anything. Confused

FeatherFeather11 · 20/05/2015 06:32

bushy you're pregnant! You're making another human! Eat and be merry, I say. I put on two stone over the whole of my pregnancy and I've lost all of it - the majority of it came off when I had C - I do need to tone up though. Thing is, midwives didn't weigh me at all except for when I booked in, so I just weighed myself at the end to know.

Listen, don't feel bad and don't deny yourself. The weight will come off and some. Eat cake for gawds sake, woman! Nothing sadder than the thought of not enjoying the last bit of your pregnancy, you've got this far! If you feel good and look good and your OH and mates are telling you you're fine then you have nowt to worry about. I'm going to have a slice of cake for brekkie in your honour today. Pay no mind to the midwife. She sounds an idiot. xx

tiger I am so so sorry. I am not sure if it read the other thread correctly but it sounds like you are in a similar position to where I was (34, unexplained infertility?). I will try to pm you.

bushy your midwife got the most basic calculation wrong and said you gained 15kg when you've gained 10????? She does not sound like someone you should be taking weight advice from given that she can't do the simplest arithmetic. And 10kg is spot on for where you should be, right?

I don't think we have much control over weight gain in pregnancy really and it's so individual. I have friends who have gained over 20kg and were rid of it all within a few months of delivery and others who in spite of only gaining a 9-10 kg total hung on to about an extra 6kg throughout breastfeeding and only lost it after bf completed (whereas another friend lost so much weight through bf that she was slimmer than she had been as a teenager).
My advice would be to to relax, love your baby and yourself and just try and keep yourself as happy and comfortable in these last few months as you can. The scale will do whatever it wants to do anyway

Alittlebitofeverything · 20/05/2015 13:48

Please may I join in? I was 12 weeks yesterday and had a scan at 10 weeks apparently all is fine, I have my first official NHS scan next Tuesday. My due date is 1st December so I am told. Very very excited and terrified probably in equal measure Smile

FluffyNut · 20/05/2015 17:36

Hi all
bushy I'm mad that your Mw said that about your weight. I put a stone on the 1st tri, and now I've stopped looking because I want to be comfortable and happy and I know it's possible to loose weight after birth. it'll give me something to do as I'm sure this motherhood lark is a doddle (don't hit me, I'm only playing)

tiger, I've got everything x's it's not and you'll stay around.

I'm updating on my phone and pleased enough with my self for remembering two people, I will have to come back for the rest.

baby show was awesome! bought travel system, ridiculous high chair (love it - like space age - completely unnecessary) and a nursing chair.
Oh, also snugglebundl, was it on here I read about it? the demonstration was brilliant and hopefully I get my money's worth.

the whole day was exhausting and glad I wasn't any further pregnant or I think I would have struggled.

had dentist today, Blergh- 1 filling later and feeling very sorry for myself.
Have to make the most out of free work tho.

Jelliebabe1 · 20/05/2015 19:19

Hi everyone! I havent been on for AAAGES!

Glad you enjoyed the baby show Fluffy - I went on Saturday but it was a nightmare with mum (we hired an electric scooter for her). It was too busy, no one paid any attention to where they were going and mum was nervous on it. I also think its too early for me to be looking at stuff. I missed half the stalls as I was trying to navigate mum round without running anyone over and there was barely anything for twins.

I did get (or should I say Mum treated me) to a reusable wipes kit! I Love an eco product! (nerd) My first purchase! EEEEK

Is anyone else doing NCT? Pretty sure we are going to book up for ours.

I had my 16 week MW appointment today. Couldn't hear the babies. I was very dissapointed. Just a bit down altogether. Cant get a grip on my diet either and being fat is really bothering me at the mo. Normally I'm okay but Now I'm pregnant I'm all upset about it and the ramifications. Also I need to pursuade my mum to sell her house and move somewhere smaller/more manageable... it just all feels a bit much at the mo. I'm sure I'll be feeing more like myself in a couple of days...

Right best get off to slimming world - JOY

Gillster · 20/05/2015 21:15

Hi Jelli, sorry the baby show was a bit of a struggle for you and your Mum. How often do they have these shows? Can you go again when you're a bit further along?

Sorry you're struggling with the weight thing too. Is this what prevented you from seeing the babies? Diets are hard at any time never mind when you're pregnant but you have the incentive now to be as healthy as you can for you and your babies. It won't be for ever either. Are you managing to do much exercise too? If you can cope with IVF, I'm pretty sure you can cope with slimming world.
Hi Alittlebit! What is your story? Had you been TTC for a long time. Was you 10 week scan an IVF scan?

RevoltingPeasant · 20/05/2015 22:11

Bushy your MW can feck right off.

I put on scarcely any weight till around where you are as quite sicky - then BAM stopped being ill and it was Xmas to boot, and boy did I go to town on cheap chocs. Kept going went DD was born and actually put on fat after birth! Disaster.

I am trying to be very disciplined now but it's not shifting much. it is just hormonal, it gets everyone differently, and frankly if she doesn't know the difference between ten and fifteen kg I'd not be taking her advice on anything!

Jelliebabe2 · 20/05/2015 22:20

Gillster! Yes youre right! Have self administered kick to arse. Healthy dinner AND sorted tomorrows lunch out too. Feeling sorry for myself ain't going to make me any lighter

Bushy - yes what RP said! 10kg is just perfect isn't it? Book to her. Pffffffttthhht

Jelliebabe2 · 20/05/2015 22:22

And Yes Gill, I've started Yoga weekly, must start waking again.

Jelliebabe2 · 20/05/2015 22:26

Or walking even! If only waking up was exercise! Id be dead fit Grin

greatbigbushybeard · 20/05/2015 23:51

Aww thank you lovely ladies! I think trying to be good is harder as you start thinking about food too much! We had a school trip on Tuesday so lots of walking, did try & choose healthier late night snack late at night going for trail mix instead of biscuits/cereal. I think when someone says re weight you very easily get a bit paranoid. Like you wise
Ladies have said it'll all come out in the wash, just need to be healthy & enjoy thus last bit. I've realised I'm now into single figures! Missy bushy is getting really low down on my right side & moves so it can be quite uncomfortable. I've also started to feel quite sore, at certain times of the day around my belly button- it's still an inny!

Welcome to a little bit.
Sorry you've been feeling a bit down jellie, sometimes there's just too much on.

ladybunnikins · 21/05/2015 10:34

Bushy I agree with the other comments about weight, I gained a total of 15kg by 41 weeks, some of that was lack of exercise and boredom eating in the last few weeks when I was stuck at home with back pain stopping me from doing anything except swimming. I think I gained about 10kg in the 2nd tri. The day after the birth I lost 6kg and then another 2kg after a week. The rest will have to wait a few weeks, I'm too tired to diet and I'm sure half that excess weight is in my 36J (!) boobs.
Jellie try not to worry about not hearing the heartbeats, in our area the midwives no longer check at 16 weeks because it isn't always possible. Did you see the reusable nappies as well at the baby show? I'm using them and they are really good.
My daughter has been to the opposite of weight watchers today and she has finally regained her birth weight so the HV is happy. She has suddenly become much more alert and interested in things so I was able to leave her in the bouncer today, staring at the musical, light up crab, while I made breakfast and fed the rabbits without her crying!

FluffyNut · 21/05/2015 11:48

Hello ALittleBit I'm sorry but I don't know your history but these ladies have been a godsend.

jelly, I'm sorry the show was a bit of a nightmare. I agree it was really badly laid out and I can imagine it would have been overwhelming for your mum. it was so crowded when I went I spent the whole time with my arm's out protecting my bump terrified someone would step back into me! I didn't see any Twin related stuff except for some travel systems.
Sorry to hear your disappointment with hearing heart beats, but don't worry, you'll have loads of opportunities to see and hear them.

Am I allowed to kick dh out of the house just because he's irritating me? or is that aq bit harsh! I just seam to see everything he does at the moment is to please himself and I am just hormone annoyed with him lol!

RevoltingPeasant · 21/05/2015 20:53

Aw lady can we see a pic? I found Dodo went thru a super clingy phase around 6-7 weeks that did my head in but after that, she was suddenly much easier to put down and from that point on (8 w ish?) it's got consistently easier. If I need to get something done now, I can leave her for a good 20 min and she'll be perfectly happy playing on her mat.

You can do one hell of a lot in twenty min, as I've discovered! Also as she gets bigger she can see me from the bouncer more easily and is more interested in what I'm doing so easier to jolly her along whilst I unload dishwasher, peg out laundry etc.

Also, isn't it wonderful that after all the shit you went through, you can now write my daughter?
