Yes jess exactly! Just to be clear I meant it is irresponsible of them not to present things more clearly.

Oh Feather, I do feel fir you and hope you are okay Flowers

greatbigbushybeard · 12/02/2015 22:11

Bless you feather. Totally agree with the 's' word & your doctors employing scare tactics but on the other hand sometimes medical staff just tell it like it is. I thought you could go over by 2 weeks before induction was mentioned. How over are you, did you say 10 days? I hope things start moving for you & all goes well. rp mentioned something I'd never heard about before-bishop something, what is that? Learning all these new things all the time, it's like a whole new world.

Came back from work sooo hungry, got out the car & could smell chips from the chippie, well that was it I had to go get some!! Couldn't face cooking!

We have a christening on Sunday. Not really sure what to wear. Think I've got a dress I could wear with bump but not tights- stopped wearing them as they cut in so have reverted to leggings. Did try stockings but the tops irritate my skin a bit. Was thinking of seeing about maternity tights.

One more day at work then it's half term! Yay!!

I'm finding I have backache in bed. By the morning the small of my back is really sore. I'm lying on my side but really I want to be on my back but I read you're not meant to lie on your back or is that only much later on?

FeatherFeather11 · 13/02/2015 15:28

Hi all,
Thanks so much for all your support. NO MORE S WORD! Feeling in a much better place with it all having had a couple if days to get my head round it all. I went for a sweep (oooouch!) this morning and the midwife seemed to think my situation was "favourable" - 1cm dilated, low soft cervix and baby is fine - she did a trace and scan to check fluid/placenta too. Anyway, here's hoping this sweep gets thing moving. Going back on Sunday for another if it doesn't. Then, I guess I will turn up to the induction on Monday and say I want another 24 hours. They can't say no. Thanks all for your invaluable advice and support. Flowers

rp my bishops score was 6 today.

bushy m&s do a really go line in maternity tights - over the bump jobs which feel like you're wearing leggings.

The advice re sleeping on your back is that it's fine until 27 weeks or before if it makes you feel unwell. Speak to your yoga teacher about it as there some really lovely stretches that help with that particular pain.

How is everyone? So sorry to hog so much thread space btw - feel so guilty!

That sounds positive Feather - keep going and you will get there Flowers

After all you have been through, this is the last tough sprint before the finish. You can do it!

pearlcrystal · 13/02/2015 21:42

feather It sounds to me like your doctor was pretty careless in what he said, but in my experience sometimes when medics talk to other medics (as patients or relatives) they forget proper statistics and professionalism. They try to provide a more 'insightful' view which ends up being arrogant and biased. So glad you are feeling more positive and very excited about your little girl being here soon! Lots of love and good vibes to you feather

bushy I've started having a backache too if I lie on my back to much, but it mostly seems to happen if I don't do enough exercise for a few days, which unfortunately has been a rather frequent occurrence over the last few weeks with work being so busy. So maybe a bit of stretching and making sure you move throughout the day might help a little.

Have you bought much in the way of maternity clothes yet?

Thanks for asking about my fibroids bushy. They were measured in the scan and are pretty large (7 and 4 cms) - the sonographer says that this is why my bump is so visible already - in effect it's as if I were carrying twins ( in terms of size if not cuteness)! Luckily though the placenta is attached in a fibroid free zone, and I am just putting my faith in the ability of the uterus to stretch. The stats around births with large fibroids make for sobering reading - much higher c section rates and high levels of post partum heamorrhaging . It seems likely that I will not have the normal choices around birth and the situation will be dictated by circumstance, but this baby is such a an unexpected gift to me that all of that seems surmountable in comparison.

Big hugs to all the berries - hope you're all keeping well and looking forward to the weekend. I'm having my 5 years old god daughter come to visit and as the weather is likely to be awful, I am getting ready for a weekend of painting and glitter - can't wait!

ladybunnikins · 13/02/2015 22:44

I've just been to a nct social evening held in a chocolate cafe, 5 courses of chocolate desserts, thank goodness for maternity jeans!
Bushy I sleep on my side/ in the recovery position anyway but I've found my dream genie maternity pillow really comfortable.
Win I hope things are going well for you, has your diabetes resolved?
Have a good weekend everyone, I'm going to visit some friends with a new baby tomorrow, lovely newborn cuddles!

pearlcrystal · 13/02/2015 23:10

Oh no - so sorry, feather just ignore what I said, I got my berries mixed up! I thought you were the anesthetist but now realise it's lady - that's the reason I commented on medics talking to other medics which is something that I've experienced a lot as a wife of a cardiologist. It is all well intentioned but can sometimes seem a bit careless when you or your partner's the patient.
Anyway - ignore me, except for the part where I send you good berry vibes and am looking forward to your little girl - that can stay!

lady your nct evening sounds great - all that desert! Enjoy your baby cuddles tomorrow. Is it just 4 weeks of work left for you?

ladybunnikins · 14/02/2015 08:22

Ah, I was wondering what you meant about medics talking to medics! (I can see your point about bias, the bad experiences stay in your memory and probably do influence your actions/beliefs.) Yes, 4 weeks left, last 2 on calls this week!

greatbigbushybeard · 14/02/2015 08:49

Thanks lady re the dream genii recommendation. I have looked it up & am considering it. We popped round our friends house to see their 2 yr old & she has lent me her v pillow. I tried it last night & slept much better. Noticeably less backache & slept for a bit longer. Not entirely sure I am using it the right way, I have the v through my Knesset & the upper part of the v near my side. Sound right? Still getting up quite early, 7.30. Not really a lie in but still marinaded in the bed for a while. Am currently sat up in bed with the v pillow behind me on genre, waiting for my bacon sarnie!! Husband jokes now it's the w/e his feeding duties commence!! Your nct choccy evening sounds lush!!

My neighbour, who had a baby last July, offered me any of her pregnancy things, including books & pillow. I think I will pop around this week & ask. I wonder whether her pillow is the dream genii? That would be v cool!!

feather thanks for the heads up on back sleeping still being ok. Sweep sounds v ouchy!! Cheers for maternity tights recommendation too.

pearl what a pain re these fibroids. Totally know what you mean about the baby being a gift. I hope they don't give you too many problems. Know what you mean re the moving about too helping back pain. I have pg yoga on Monday & am off on half term so might try out my pg yoga DVD which a friend lent me.

Right time for sarnie. Have a good w/e berries!!

ladybunnikins · 14/02/2015 11:03

If Knesset=knees then that sounds about right, mine only has the long leg bit on one side which supports the bump and gives you somewhere to put your leg, the other side just has bump support which I thought was a bit weird at first but it seems to work. I was given a Mothercare voucher at my wedding 3 years ago so when there were rumours that Mothercare was going to close (when Comet closed) I thought I'd better spend it, hence the pillow, so it's nice to finally use it!

FeatherFeather11 · 15/02/2015 19:29

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend. Little update from me:

Had another sweep today and lost my plug beforehand. Midwife said I'm now 2-3cm dilated, she felt the waters and baby's head. I'm booked in for induction in the morning but says she thinks they'll want to skip the pessary and gel and move on to breaking my waters. I plan on getting there and telling them that I don't want that and that I want another 24-48 hours. Sound reasonable? It sounds and feels like things are moving along, albeit slowly, but I really don't want my waters broken for me if I can help it....

This baby is being SO stubborn!

RevoltingPeasant · 15/02/2015 20:00

Feather have been thinking of you!

I agree and would do the same. Remember if they break your waters you're on the clock and then they have to really get things moving if you don't go into labour properly on your own. I imagine that stress would be tough.

But whatever happens, you're in the hands of kind, caring professionals who will do the best for you and your baby. And within hours from now you will be holding her in your arms and kissing her for the first time :)

You will be fine, and all this will just melt away then. Dorothea is currently lying on my lap looking up innocently and pooing. A lot. Off to change nappy.....

greatbigbushybeard · 15/02/2015 20:41

feather that's good. I think you're right that things are moving along.

Lol at Dorothea looking at you innocently & pooing!

We went to a christening today. Was lovely as saw lots of people we hadn't seen for a while & lots of yummy food! Was nice to go & not feel like the outsiders. Also I was talking to the mum of the baby being christened and saying how I had a bad back & she said she had a maternity pillow that goes through your legs etc & I asked was it a dream genii & it is! She offered it to me so I'll be taking her up on that I think!!

ladybunnikins · 15/02/2015 20:49

Feather 2-3cm is great for a primip, sounds like you're on your way slowly and perfectly reasonable to ask for a bit longer since you'll only be T+11. My sister went in for induction at T+10 with her first but they didn't have any beds on delivery suite until T+14 and they didn't see her as a priority until then.

RevoltingPeasant · 16/02/2015 09:21

Good luck today Feather!!

ladybunnikins · 16/02/2015 11:59

On my self scan today the baby is now breech, I think it turned yesterday. Very uncomfortable with the head right up where my stomach should be, explains my increased heartburn!

jessplussomeonenew · 16/02/2015 17:23

Feather, have you considered trying this to get things moving? Wink

Pixie001 · 17/02/2015 11:21

Feather what's the latest???

pearlcrystal · 17/02/2015 13:32

feather how are things going? Hope all progressing well.

berries a big thank you for the recommendation of E45 itch relief cream - it has been a revelation! You are the best.

Very tempted to purchase a pregnancy pillow now too.

RevoltingPeasant · 17/02/2015 14:57

Thinking of you Feather xx

FeatherFeather11 · 18/02/2015 14:36

She's finally arrived! After three days in hosp, a lot of stress and agony, which ended in an emc this morning at 11am, our daughter Cleo Jasmin is here. I'm drugged up to my eyeballs at the moment. Will write properly soon, but wanted to let you all know and to say thank you for your support.

Xxxx
