bushy, sorry, but I had a major giggle reading your post! Pregnancy is so undignified. You wait till the midwife informs you that you need to take a sieve to the hospital if you plan on getting in the pool Shock - my eyes were on stalks! Sorry you're feeling a bit rubbish though. It doesn't help, people saying this, but it will pass! Ooooh, pregnancy yoga, how lovely. That'll make you aware of pelvic floor exercises!

greatbigbushybeard · 02/02/2015 18:05

That's fine feather I'd be pmsl at it to ( har de har!!)

Good god re the sieve!! I think my eyes would also be on stalks. I take it that it's for retrieving the other bodily excretion?? Ewww!!!

ladybunnikins · 02/02/2015 18:05

I did that too, Bushy, although luckily it happened at home!
I've got annual leave this week but today I just can't sit comfortably except on the birthing ball, hopefully it means the head is moving down a bit. I've bought the car seat now, a britax dualfix.

ladybunnikins · 02/02/2015 18:10

When my sister was a student nurse she did a midwifery placement and attended a water birth, collecting the poo in a sieve was her task!

RevoltingPeasant · 03/02/2015 01:03

We donated our sieve to another lady hoping for a home birth as it had gone unused. Another pg lady who was with her at the time started asking what it was for.... We just exchanged Knowing Looks!

Dodo is 10 days old today! And it's her actual due date. DH says she can have two birthdays like the Queen Grin

Although the anxiety does not stop! You'd think getting them out safely would be it, and you could relax, but no! Dodo lost 12.2% of body weight during her first 72hours - apparently up to 10% is normal, who knew... Anyhow as her weight loss was so massive we got put on a militant feeding up regime of 2 hourly feeds throughout every 24 hour period - so yes, no more than 90 min sleep at a time - plus topping her up with expressed milk. For anyone planning on BF, I'd totally invest in a manual breadth pump at least.

They are happy with her weight gain so far, so we are down to three hourly feeds - still cream cracker end though.... But it is all worth it when she makes a cute little noise or shoots her tiny arms out like Superman or peers up craftily at me when she is feeding.....

This is her dressed to go out in her star wrap...!

10 days old already! How did that happen, rp?! She's absolutely gorgeous. How are you feeling? Recovered from the birth etc? I'm still waiting around and even though I'm not due till Thurs, feel as though I'm just hanging about for too long now!

OP posts:
ladybunnikins · 03/02/2015 09:34

She looks very content RP, and the star wrap is lovely. (Join the FB group, lots of berries have had BFing issues, but it sounds like you are doing brilliantly!)

jessplussomeonenew · 03/02/2015 18:21

RP she's gorgeous! Is there anyone who can lend/rent you an electric pump, it does make life easier. Try local breastfeeding groups or the hospital. Or try online, e.g.
www.ardobreastpumps.co.uk/products/hire

pearlcrystal · 03/02/2015 21:43

RP love the photo of Dorothea - beautiful, and sleeping so peacefully in her wrap! It sounds like you've been great with the BF and ensuring baby gets what's required to catch up with weight gain. The nhs approach to statistics does worry me though - if they have a 10% rule, 9.9 means you're fine and 10.1 is a huge problem, regardless of the fact that it's actually only a matter of a few grams and possibly how long ago baby's last meal was.

feather yes definitely my mind is much more at ease - thanks. How are you? Are you feeling the same pelvic pressure that RP felt? All organized now for the arrival?

bushy lots of sympathy coming your way, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at your story... Possibly rhetorical question - but shouldn't the nausea ease in the second trimester?

I had my embarrassing and dangerous moment yesterday too. I have a long commute to work of 1 hour of mostly motorway driving. I felt so awful coming home yesterday that I actually had to stop on the hard shoulder to be sick, threw up on my shoes, and then had to try and get back into traffic to the annoyance of other drivers who were not shy in voicing (or rather beeping) their disapproval. I was feeling very sorry for myself.

Sieves, peeing, being sick, not to mention the numerous gasses coming out of a pg woman, you're right bushy, it is hard to maintain an air of self respect and dignity...

greatbigbushybeard · 03/02/2015 23:11

Lolpearl ain't that the truth!!!

Aw ww baby dodo has got me all broody, she's just lovely!! Well done rp you sound like you are doing an amazing job. Sounds absolutely knackering!! Her star wrap is v cute, where is that from?

Dh is away tonight so spoke to him on the phone, he asked if I had been sick or pissed myself ( charming!!). I replied no, today's been a success!!

I thought it would ease too. I haven't had it particularly bad so am pretty lucky. I keep being told to eat ginger biscuits. Has anyone tried them & think they help? I just kept nibbling lots today, I'm keeping belvita in business!!

ladybunnikins · 04/02/2015 11:00

I never found that ginger biscuits helped with nausea, in fact I found that anything sweet gave me a horrible taste in my mouth. I also commute in the car for an hour so for breakfast I would eat a dry toasted bagel in the car and I took breadsticks to nibble on during the day.
Fortunately I was never sick in the car but a colleague said she used to drive to work with a washing up bowl next to her for vomiting purposes.

FeatherFeather11 · 04/02/2015 11:41

A washing up bowl, bunny!! I found the ginger biscuits useless too. The only thing that helped a little were satsumas - ate them by the bucket load early on. Then there was a little Nutella frenzy Blush

Hope everyone is well. Baby feather still not here yet obvs, although bump seems to have 'dropped' in last 24 hours. Had awful dream that I woke up in bed and felt for bump and it was gone! Woke up on real life and had to go check in the mirror....!

FluffyNut · 04/02/2015 14:03

hi ladies! hope everyone is well. I am having a sneaky phone at desk moment so if I have missed anyone I really apologise and will try harder next time!

bair - I was so pleased to hear your scan went well. I hope your body is now behaving itself and no more scares. have you found the sickness is better now you've been given meds for it?

Bushy - oh bless you with the pee n vom situation. I now know not to think the sickness will go away! how did the Yoga go? I am thinking about doing something healthy and preg yoga sounds nice.

Food - I haven't met you before so it's nice to meet you! Your pics are lovely and you should be very proud! have you been able to get on with the decorating? I have so much I want to do in prep for baby, but half of my house is full of FIL' s stuff as he's looking to move - but it's been nearly a year. DH knows he'll have to have words if no movement soon!

feather - have you managed to shift your cold? I hope so as you've a busy time ahead of you! hope you've recovered from your dream! I had my first ever baby dream where I was trying (and failing miserably) to wrap'him' up. When I woke I was pleased to have had a dream as everyone says it's a preg symptom and I hadn't had one yet!

RP - very delayed but finally I got to see the pics of your beauty! how wonderful. glad she's now gaining the weight and well done to the pair of you for all the feeds!

Lady - are you enjoying your week off? hope you are managing to get comfortable.

finally I have to say YUK to ginger biscuits! I used to like ginger beer and bics but they now make be feel 10 times worse! I haven't actually had vomit, (i do know there's still time) but really bad nausea and quite a few sick burps! sorry tmi. I like rice crispie squares but limit to one a day!

I have had confirmed I'm 9 weeks. due my next scan 25th feb (argh ages away) and finally due to meet midwife next week (prev care with fc) still bloated/chunky and loving the hair band trouser rescue! thanks! !

greatbigbushybeard · 04/02/2015 18:57

Had my 16 wk midwife appt today & got to hear the heartbeat!! Was lovely!! It's really in there!!

Pregnancy yoga was really good. Very relaxing. We had to get into order of gestation ( but like a cbbb task!!) was like a carousel of all the different stages! From 16 weeks to 31 weeks. Were some funny moments & a little bit woo e.g. At the end we all had to hold hands & say can we do this? Yes we can. ( bit like bob the builder!!)

fluffy the hairband trick kept me going for quite a while.

Maybe I won't bother with ginger biscuits then!! Yuk to the washing up bowl on the car seat but you gotta do what you gotta do. X

ladybunnikins · 04/02/2015 19:55

Bushy 16 weeks already! I hope the sickness subsides soon then. That's great that you got to hear the heartbeat!
My baby has been very active in the last few days, it's such a lovely feeling, that has been my favourite part of the pregnancy. The other good thing is that DH volunteers to clean the rabbit litter trays now and it is easier for me to get back massages from him.
Fluffy the other thing that I think did help with nausea was antisickness wristbands in the early stages.
Feather I hope you don't have to wait much longer, my friend had a dream where she was no longer pregnant and when she woke up her waters had gone!

Foodylicious · 05/02/2015 20:56

RP thats fab work with the feeding, well done you! its fecking hard work but so worth it! Do you have a local bf support group you can get to? mine is fab, I still go now! also there are monthly La Leche League meetings which are lovely too. So helpful with tips and tricks and can really help with reducing top ups/swapping them for feeds as things settle. Kellymom is also a great website for info/advice.

Hi fluffy , no i have not done anything with the decorating at all! maybe soon???...

FeatherFeather11 · 05/02/2015 21:51

bushy 16 weeks already! Yay! And how lovely to hear the heartbeat.

lady is totally right! such an amazing feeling to feel the baby moving. I didn't get any kicks till 21weeks when we were on summer hols.

fluffy yes! cold is gone, thanks for asking. 9 weeks! Exciting! Just eat whatever you can at thus stage and if it means a few more of those rice crispier squares, so be it. It's not forever and the sickness will be hone soon hopefully, and you'll be back on kale etc in no time!

foody thanks fit the tip on breast feeding contacts. I'm a lithe nervous about it so will look them up.

I'm still here! Due date today but nowt happening. Saw the midwife today and all is fine. Baby has turned and no longer back to back, which I am thrilled about! She asked me if i wanted a sweep abc when I said I wanted to wait, she said she thought I was doing the right thing. Booked in yo see her again next Weds if there's no action.

It's a kinda weird time now. Feel a bit in limbo! And ladies, if I can impart knew piece of advice, it's this: only share your exact due date with your nearest and dearest - we've made the mistake of telling everyone when I was due and we've both been bombarded with "has the baby arrived?!?" texts all day. Well meaning and sweet, but if the baby is, say, a week late, and we keep getting this texts all the time I will go mental!

How/where is everyone? Bair? Otters? Pearl? Spare? Pixie? Hope you're all ok. Xx

What is it with the unbelievably smelly wind! This is not glamorous at all!

pearlcrystal · 06/02/2015 16:18

Hello!
feather you hang in there, having made it through 40 weeks you should have a little celebration that your baby will be fully 'done' when it comes out and that you can manage another week or 2 given that you've managed 40! Perhaps you can let the kind texters know that they will be the first to know when the baby makes an appearance so that they give you some breathing room.

bushy glad your incident hasn't been repeated, it must be extra hard when you're surrounded by kids all day to conceal that you are not feeling quite right. Glad you enjoyed pregnancy yoga. My local class allows members from 14 weeks onwards so I expect to follow suite soon, although I am not great with all the holding hands group hugs stuff

Lady hooray for little active babies, I can't imagine how lovely it must be and am so looking forward to feeling that first move. I was told that my placenta attachment is anterior meaning that it might take me a little longer to feel anything.

It's been an exciting week for me - I finally told my line manager about my upcoming 'change in circumstance'. He seemed very understanding though I am in a very awkward position of being on a fixed term contract that would end while I am on mat leave. This is not ideal for me but I also manage a small team - all on fixed contracts whose jobs I feel responsible for. I have been working my socks off though to prove our value to the University and it's looking good so fingers crossed.

pearlcrystal · 06/02/2015 16:21

fluffy so true - bloated stomachs and flatulence see to be a primary characteristic of pregnancy.

Funny (and sadly true story) I woke myself up a few days ago with the bad smell... as bushy says this being pregnant is not a dignified business...

FeatherFeather11 · 08/02/2015 10:23

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend! Still no baby feather here at 40+3 today...! Going for a huge walk in the hope I can get things moving Hmm

OP posts:
ladybunnikins · 08/02/2015 17:13

At least this is the last possible 2WW Feather (although I hope it doesn't go on that long!) I've been having cuddles with my 2 nieces today and changed a nappy. Back to work tomorrow but just 5 weeks of work left!

Pixie001 · 08/02/2015 17:52

Hey berries, feather you still going???!!
What's the next steps if your walk this afternoon doesn't bring it on? Are you presumably already on the curry and raspberry leaf tea diet with bedtime frollics and bouncing on ball?
Hope those who have been suffering with sickness are starting to see the end of it? This weekend I have still had nausea and last night was awake for a couple hrs around 3am which was frustrating.
12w scan for me on tues at 13+1. Bit terrified!
And lady only 5 wks of work left? Wow, feeling kinda envious. Are you all sorted and ready?

greatbigbushybeard · 08/02/2015 18:14

Mega lols at the wind berries, esp the smell waking you up pearl!!!

Yes feather you have cooked that baby good!! When did you finish work? Hope you enjoyed your walk, now it's time for curry, pineapple etc!

You know we were laughing about the washing up sick bowl in the car?? I had to take a sick bucket ( a becks ice bucket- classy!!) with me on Saturday in the car! Dh was test driving a car & had to take it with me- nice!!

My bump feels quite twingey today, def popping out more.

Think my cleverly covered work bump might not be as cleverly covered as I thought. My friend who has kids at my school tells me parents have been asking her if I'm pregnant! Apparently it's cus I normally look so slim ( must look like a chumbawumba at the moment then!!).

We went out for meal with in laws. MIL was on good form telling us after a few glasses of rose how she had to carry 5 litres of wee on the bus to take to the hospital as they'd found protein in her wee!!!

greatbigbushybeard · 08/02/2015 18:17

Ooh pixie 12 week scan how exciting!! I wake up sometimes needing a wee & then can be bit hard to get back off to sleep.
