Whats your favorite? Mine is: 'In the 1st Trimester most women gain only 1-2lbs and look the same. Apart from bigger boobs.'

I gained 7lbs and sadly NONE of it has gone to my chest- so its all lies, I say... unfair!

no, only a couple of days - but the books dont harp on about sweeps and being booked for induction, and all your birth plans being buggered out of the window.

BIGlilBUBU · 12/10/2006 19:04

That once the babys out the pain stops.....wtf?
I cried the whole night after I was in so much pain. Maybe it was because I had an epidural that was topped up throughout pushing so I didnt actually feel much. It was quite a shock once it wore off.

PinkTulips · 12/10/2006 19:07

lickening afterpain to period cramps........BS! it was like being in labour all over again.

when your contractions are 5 mins apart it time to go into hospital...... wasn't even 1/2 cm dilated, went home for 12 hours and was still only 3cm.... with pains that had been every 2/3 mins for 15 hours

and i HATE american books that claim pregnancy is really 10 months long...... no you tossers, a month is 4.5 weeks not four and a pragnancy is exactly 9 months long. i'm depressed enough without them trying to make it longer.

BAH!

The midwife at my booking in appointment told me pregnancy/birth can often be harder with the 3rd - anyone shed any light on this one?

zombiebridepenny · 12/10/2006 19:14

I heard a herbalist descirbe Giving birth on radio 4 a month ago she said...'
Birth can be a hightened body experience and some women can give birth on the crest of an orgasm.'.
Now I have not given birth yet but somehow I doubt this theory,... better sniff that bottle of lavendar meths again love.

RabidZombieAmie · 12/10/2006 19:16

wonder which "herb" they had taken before the show?

dyzzidi · 12/10/2006 19:17

After the birth you may experience some hair loss. Some bloody hair loss i lost nearly half my hair and now dd is 10 month old i have inch long tucfts of hair all over my head i vainly try to style as part of my bob.

Also had three blood tests due to excessive har loss 6 weeks after birth.

LittleJem · 12/10/2006 19:17

"Avoid eating anything that makes you especially bad"?! - No shit!

zombiebridepenny · 12/10/2006 19:17

BTW having read Miriam Stoppard shortly after getting pregnant. I can safely declare her as the best method of contraception going.
Just keep the book open on one of those 70s live birth photos at the back.

LittleJem · 12/10/2006 19:18

zombiebridepenny - anyone tried having a bloody orgasm when they're labour then!?

dyzzidi · 12/10/2006 19:19

'Your partner may be disturbed by your restless nights maybe you should opt to sleep in the spare room.'

Let me tell you it was his fault for getting me pregnant when i got up to pee for the ninth time do you really think i was thinking oh my poo DH he has snored all night while i have to pee every half hour!

BIGlilBUBU · 12/10/2006 19:19

I got nausea but didnt actually throw up the whole time I was pregnant. Maybe if I had I wouldnt have gained SO much weight. I gained 5stone while i was pregnant. I had to deprive myself so much to get back to normal. Why is it so hard to stick to 3 meals a day when your pregnant. I literally found it impossible to not eat.

LittleJem · 12/10/2006 19:21

Beginning to think some of these books must've been written by my mother-in-law - all I hear is how is her dear boy going to cope with sleepness nights again!

zombiebridepenny · 12/10/2006 19:22

Not sure but know that I'm looking forward to giving it a good go in the labour ward. DP will be blown away.

LittleJem · 12/10/2006 19:23

zombiebridepenny - That's a fantastic birth plan, will give it a go too. When are you due?

zombiebridepenny · 12/10/2006 19:24

The old fav must be
' Welcome to the second trimester, by now your sickness will be fading and your hair and skin will bloom'
The Mother in Laws work for sure

zombiebridepenny · 12/10/2006 19:26

I am due 22/March 2007 am 17 wks today and still a sick grey shadow with dry hair.

LittleJem · 12/10/2006 19:27

"The best time to have a baby is between 20 and 24" what?

LittleJem · 12/10/2006 19:30

Due to bloom anytime now then! I'm beginning to think someone is punishing me for moaning about my symptoms cause since this afternoon i feel hundred times worse!

emzickle · 12/10/2006 19:33

ealry contractions feel like "slight" period pains... WTF if i had periods that felt like this, i def would not still be alive...

help me please

MKG · 12/10/2006 19:34

My favorite is that your hair gets stronger. My hair is falling out more now that I'm pregnant.

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 12/10/2006 20:06

LittleJem, hate to tell you this but my 3rd was my worst Well, the actual labour and birth, after was fine.

hunkermunster · 12/10/2006 20:11

"You may experience afterpains with a second or subsequent baby."

Er.

I had them like a steamroller going back and forth on my abdomen after my first. Worse than labour!
