What is the criteria for consultant led care?

Just wondering who qualifies for, or is entitled to, consultant led care during pregnancy.

I hear you get it if you've had 3 or more consecutive miscarriages.

But not sure what other criteria there is. How about BMI, weight of previous children at birth, delivery method, diabetes, types of complications, etc...

Is there an NHS checklist anywhere?

For me it was low bmi, small previous baby and HG.

Bi-cornuate uterus and three episodes of early onset labour.

It was a combination of incredible midwives and a consultant that kept me and my baby alive.

Number3 - yes, I'm 33 weeks now and am with Princess Alexandra in Harlow who are pretty good. The problem with coming from Kings is that we've had the best hospital so anything else comes up short! Good luck with the rest of your pg - how many weeks are you?

For me it is slightly raised bmi and previous unexplained premature labour (29 weeks) with DD. Although I have only seen consultant once at 16 weeks and only difference my bmi has made in my care is gestational diabetes test.

When having ds2 i was consultant led due to previous c-section and rhesus negative blood type when ds1 was rhesus positive. According to the mid-wife, even without the previous c-section the second baby if you are rhesus negative (if first baby was positive) automatically puts you under consultant led care (or at least it did 7 years ago).
