OMG. Total shock. Just found out pregnant and I'm old and single!

Well title says it all really. I'm 42 and just found out totally unexpected.

I am single. Changed jobs two months ago to very high stress job that I am struggling with = no maternity pay... nor do I think I can stay doing it because of the stress

Holy moses! Have one child and have always, always wanted another but resigned to the fact that it would never happen.

Despite the shock and I am so utterly super excited I can't tell you :)

Oh thank you lovely people - I'm all over the place I don't know what to do with myself. My period is two weeks late, and done two tests which 100% say yes.

I entitled to maternity pay'/'leave'. I was pleasantly surprised I was!

Oh thanks beginner will look into that. This is so precious to me - something I thought would never ever ever happen that I want to remove any stresses and i would rather be totally poor than possibly affect baby... oh my goodnes.... a baby....!!!

Google stat maternity allowance too. If you are not entitled to SMP you will be entitled to SMA. It's the same amount for the same time I think, but for women who have not been with their employers long enough, or are self employed.

I'm 42 and I have a 6 month old, our third. He is adored because he was a total surprise. I thought I was done. So glad I wasn't. I am enjoying every single moment. I never read the books, so no advice really other than reduce your stress. Seriously, we're not 24 and having babies. So just be aware of your needs, take it easy, eat very well and enjoy this immense blessing!!! Congratulations!!!

My Mum was 43 when my youngest sister was born. We were all very excited. My little sister is 13 now, which is insane.

I found a book called "Your Pregnancy Bible" really helpful with both of my DCs.

Congratulations!! Loads of women are having babies in their 40s these days it's definitely not considered old these days! If you go on to the nhs website they have a pregnancy section with all the do's and dont's on l. Enjoy! Very exciting
