Well title says it all really. I'm 42 and just found out totally unexpected.

I am single. Changed jobs two months ago to very high stress job that I am struggling with = no maternity pay... nor do I think I can stay doing it because of the stress

Holy moses! Have one child and have always, always wanted another but resigned to the fact that it would never happen.

Despite the shock and I am so utterly super excited I can't tell you :)

That is so lovely to hear Dora and Bike. I feel I will enjoy it so much more as I know what to expect this time! I just feel really out of touch with it all :)

Will have to tell my parents soon

Hey OP,
Congratulations! I highly recommend Emily Osters book, 'expecting better' and then just a day by day or week by week app. :)

ellenjames · 24/11/2014 19:27

Wow this is lovely Grin it brought tears to my eyes. How exciting for youSmile

Shootthemoon · 24/11/2014 19:33

Awwww Smile your happiness is catching!

Congratulations! Take it easy. And I'm pretty sure that you are due Mat pay if you weren't pregnant when you took the role.

MadameJosephine · 24/11/2014 19:34

Definitely not too old, I had my DD at 41, 16 years after DS!

Massive congratulations Flowers

Here's a link to a PDF version of the nhs pregnancy book. We used to give a copy to all expectant women in our area but apparently it got too expensive so now we point people to it online

I had my 3rd at 42.
I would definitely recommend it.
She has been the most wonderful child since the day she was born.
She is now 16 and still wonderful.
I think being an older parent has a lot going for it.
You have the experience, and you aren't in any hurry for them to grow up.

anniepanniepears · 24/11/2014 19:39

aww nothing nicer than a new baby congratulations

NotMrsTumble · 24/11/2014 19:40

Thoroughly recommend "bumpology" by linda geddes, examines the evidence behind all the dos and don'ts and means you can make up your own mind. BTW there's a 9 & 11 year gap between my no 3 & his older siblings. He's adored by his siblings, it's a great age gap.

Parsley1234 · 24/11/2014 19:41

Congratulations a little baby ! How lovely for you xx

MiddletonPink · 24/11/2014 19:44

Er well one of the areas I often visited is the Relationships topic to discuss my shite relationship............................................................

Hmmmmmmm :D

I don't even want to think about any of that now. He knows and is shocked. However, he wants to be involved which I am delighted with and it is his choice.

supersupersupershock · 25/11/2014 18:48

:) those of you with older kids how did they react when you told them?

OP posts:
MadameJosephine · 26/11/2014 22:01

My DS was 16 when DD was born, he was and still is delighted to have a sibling. He actually has 2 half brothers as his dad has 2 sons but he has never met one of them and has only seen the other a handful of times so he was over the moon to have a 'proper' sister living in the same house. Shame it took so long really as he'll be off to uni next year and she's really going to miss him

NotMrsTumble · 26/11/2014 22:03

Grin how the big kids were going to react was one of my big worries. They were surprised but over the moon. I got squeals and "really?! Really?!" and big hugs and even bigger grins. Wish I'd filmed it.

ajandjjmum · 27/11/2014 08:23

MadameJosephine - maybe his little sister will bring him home on more frequent visits! Grin

MadameJosephine · 27/11/2014 17:57

I hadn't thought of that ajandjjmum but lets hope so Smile
