Is it only me who worries about everything??

Why do I seem to be over anxious about everything? anyone else I know who has been pregnant seems to have gone through their pregnancy with hardly a worry, yet I seem to worry about everything. Normally when not pregnant im a level headed person but since being pregnant I seem to be Mrs Neurotic.
So far Ive eaten blue cheese and am convinced that I have listeria. I also have a horrible habit of typing in things on search engines and reading too much, This now means that Ive scared myself silly that ive passed listeria to the baby and that its going to be stillborn or with some disability. I also have 3 cats and ive taken all the precautions of not cleaning the litter tray and wearing gloves when gardening, but again im not convinced that I havent caught anything. I just seem to be so stressed out over any little thing and keep seeing the worst in everything. Its really spoilt the pregnancy.
Sorry to go on a bit.
Anyone else feeling like this?

kbaby, i worried even more with my 2nd than my 1st, both healthy girls thank goodness. holby btw is a bit sloppy these days, had some well-dodgy stuff (ie wrong) on last night's about antiphospholipid syndrome, so even the stuff you see on tv can't always be relied upon. I really hope everything goes well for you, x

oh don't watch discovery health. The maternity ward programme on that should be used as contraception!

Well I went to the doctors on Friday and persuaded him to give me a blood test for toxoplasmosis and listeria. He thought I was completely potty and lectured me on the fact that the tests could come back positive and therefore its too late to do anything about it now so whats the point in knowing. I dont think he liked it when I said that I knew antibiotics could be taken which would lessen the effects to the baby and that they can do further tests to find out at what stage the infection was caught and indepth scans to assess brain development etc..
Anyway the results should be back late tuesday so I can only hope their all be negative and I can stop worrying.

hugs kbaby. Hope you can be worry free very soon Just think, once the babies have arrived we can find whole new things to fret about

(NB. That's not meant to minimize either of our very real fears, btw)

oh im sure theres a whole world of terrible diseases out there just waiting for us to find and obssess over. Between the both of us I bet the NHS will be glad when we have the babies. We've probably doubled their 2004 budget already with test etc..
Im really glad its not just me whose been like this though. I just hope that for both of us our fears turn out to have been silly and our babies are perfect.

Well with my first baby, he was only 4 months old when Sept 11th happened. I then spent nights in tears thinking we were all going to die of smallpox by the time the year was out...

You're very right... we'll find new things to worry about, I think since becoming a mum I've turned into a real worry wart. I hereby resolve to try and remain positive and cheerful at all times!
