Shamelessly looking for ideas Grin

I've spent such a happy day on Pinterest, and I'm thinking of mint, with pink and cream accents. We're having twins but we don't know the genders.

DDs room (didnt know what we were having) is grey. A sort of darker grey with white woodwork. Grass green rug and curtains. Three black and white prints that have old mini cars on but the minis are coloured floral pattern. Shes now three and it still suits so we wont be redrcorating. Baby no.2 is on the way and he is a boy but all his bits will be in our bedroom for the first year so his "nursery corner" is quite feminine as its what suits our bedroom and he is a baby so wont give a hoot. Ill put a pic up as its so lovely!

I have a large spare room i plan on painting it white and buying some of the sticker type things like owls or a large tree to go on the walls, cant afford to spend loads and i like the sticker things think they are a good option and not blowing the budget! www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?urlRequestType=Base&catalogId=10011&productId=300173&errorViewName=ProductDisplayErrorView&urlLangId=110&langId=110&storeId=10201

How are you going to decorate your nursery?

Oh I love those stickers, skyra! They would look so cute on a green wall. I adore the squirrel.

That's lovely, Think. Your tidy-tray stand looks really useful- where did you get it from?

They all sound lovely.

I love that tree sticker. All the others I've seen look too cartoon like and brash, so I was going to get a plain white one but that's perfect.

The wheely trolley thing? Its from IKEA. I coveted it for months and whilst it is pricey (£50) it seems really versatile - wpuld suot use in a kitchen, bedroom, office, laundry etc. I saw one on Pinterest doen out like a drinks cabinet Grin

My trolley and I are looking to have a long and happy relationship!

twiglet2 · 24/09/2014 18:30

I have one of those trollies in my kitchen, I love it :) we're expecting a girl but fell in love with the pet sounds wallpaper by mini moderns, so have that on one wall with turquoise check curtains.

CurlsLDN · 24/09/2014 18:35

Can I jump in here even though ds is 20 weeks old (how did that happen?!)
The single best choice I made in aaaaall the baby stuff was to get the hemnes chest of drawers from ikea and use it as a changing table. It's the perfect height so I don't hurt my back at all, it's also wipe clean
cLean. I got the drawer dividers and top drawer contains Nappies, wipes, muslins, bibs, medicines. Middle drawer contains clothes organised by type. Bottom drawer contains too-big clothes, bedding, towels, blankets, spare nappies and other random bits.
It's a fab size to store everything, and is a quality piece of furniture that we can use for years.
An extra tip that I got from another mum - organise the clothes drawer and label each section with post-its of what it is and what size (eg, vests - newborn, onesies - newborn)
When I unexpectedly ended up in hospital for a week dh could easily find what he needed to bring us.
Good luck, I loved picking all the bits and bobs!

SantanaLopez · 24/09/2014 19:05

Cheers! I'm going to hit Ikea at some point soon then!

Ikea have a good few baby bits in - foldable baby change mat for about a fiver - its big but folds down really small!

Artandco · 24/09/2014 20:15

Ours share our room ( only have one bedroom) - they are now 3 and 4!

Our room is white, and we didn't want it too babyish. We added some black and white pictures (6) of animals dh and I took on Safari a few years before they were born. Sheepskin rugs on floor next to cotbeds. Ds1 has a light green gingham blanket on bed, ds2 has a light blue gingham blanket.

As babies they had wooden spiral with white birds as mobile above cots. Now they have a book 'corner' in between both their beds ( their beds are along one wall ie they sleep head to head with book area in middle)

ToniWol · 24/09/2014 20:41

We're having mint and pink - although mainly because the carpet is rose pink and still in good condition, and the walls are green mottled wallpaper, so emulsioning over in a mint green makes sense. We've got some of the Snoozy Safari stickers from Mothercare as well, as they're nice and neutral gender wise.

moggle · 24/09/2014 20:43

Ooh, I'm glad hemnes drawers are good for a changing table, I had picked the wide one out for our nursery. We have just ripped out an ugly and totally unsuitable fitted wardrobe which has revealed enough damage to need a proper redecoration and new carpets. (Which I'm secretly quite happy about!)
Funnily enough twiglet I have been lusting after the same mini moderns wallpaper! I need to figure out if i can do one wall with one roll, if it needs two I don't think DH will go for it due to the cost :-(

katiegee · 24/09/2014 20:50

Loving reading about other peoples plans! We are planning to paint the spare room a nice, fresh green colour.

Shortly after I found out I was pregnant, a good friend of ours came home from Africa and had bought us a canvas painting of some animals - a zebra, a lion and some birds. it's quite a child-like painting and he said he had no idea why he bought it for us but felt we would like it...he didn't know I was pregnant at the time, and I probably wasn't even pregnant when he bought it! Anyway, it is beautiful, bright colours and my plan is to get it framed and then find some blankets and curtains in bright colours like the reds, blues and yellows that are the painting.

FrogsGoWaaa · 24/09/2014 20:52

laybabylay.com/search/all/in/style-boards/tagged/neutral-nursery is a US blog that has some great ideas! She does a mixture of style boards and real nurseries. Unfortunately all the furniture is from the USA but it could be handy at the idea stage for colours etc.

SantanaLopez · 24/09/2014 20:56

Lots of greens and grey then :)

I bought those lovely Homebase stickers, I love them.

I did up a couple of wicker baskets in dds room too - one with vests and one with sleepsuits and had them sat next to the changemat so it was easy to just get her ready really quickly. The baskets are still in use now for socks and knickers so it was a good little system that worked for us.

SantanaLopez · 24/09/2014 21:17

I can't decide what sort of system to aim for- whether to have clothes for each twin or just a bundle of clean ones to choose from.

OP posts:
ThinkIveBeenHacked · 24/09/2014 21:24

You could just stock up on unisex vests and sleepsuits to see you through to three months, then have a shelf or drawer for each twin (if opposite sex) for stuff thats bought from.other people? If they are both the same sex id just chuck everything of one size in a shared drawer (unless you want to use specific colours for each DT to help pthers know who is who!)

SantanaLopez · 24/09/2014 21:32

I think unisex basics would probably be best (and hey, they're a baby, they don't care if they're wearing pink or blue!), you're right. Less faff when we're putting away the clean stuff too.

OP posts:
ThinkIveBeenHacked · 24/09/2014 21:36

Have a look in H&M if you have one nearby- loads of their unisex stuff is in loads of different colours, rather than just the obligatory white, cream, lemon.

They also do these great vests that pop open down the side/across the front rather than the type you pull down owver the head, so you can open them up, lay baby on, then button them up - dh and I were so.nervous trying to stuff a newborn into a vest Grin

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 24/09/2014 21:37

link for you incase I made no sense!

Mrsgrumble · 24/09/2014 21:42

I love our nursery.

It is pure white with roman blinds in blue and white stripe and jute curtains

I have bookends in antique white on the windowsill A -Z

Retro first aid tin

White wicker chair with cute cushions

White cot and white expedit storage

White tallboy for storing nappies and wipes (holds about 200)

Oak and white seven drawer unit and I have a pretty basket for nappies and talc etc and an antique style lamp

It's really crisp and clean and clutter free. I have sweet dreams bunting and nappy holder bag
