Can anyone reccomend good quality muslin cloths that aren't too expensive. I'm having triplets so I will need a lot!

I've seen some in asda but they look quite thin and stretchy...

I need to know this! So marking my place :)

Scoopmuckdizzy · 17/09/2014 18:03

The best ones I had were from Aldi. The M&S ones weren't very good. The ones I had from Tesco were ok but i would always choose the Aldi ones over them and only used them if they were the only ones left.

PinkAndBlueBedtimeBears · 17/09/2014 18:08

In our house it's moreso quantity than quality. You'll use one to catch the sick, throw it to one side, one to wipe their face/ your legs/ the sofa and throw it to one side, then one to put on the wet patch on the sofa so you don't sit in it.. That's at least 3 per sick incident! My ds isn't particularly sickly but we easily use 25 a day as they are also put on the change Mat before I do his bum so if he wees it's absorbed, and to put under his head for tummy time, and to line his car seat incase he's sick in there, and draped over the car seat handles to keep the light out..... Buy as many as you possibly can for as cheap as possible is my advice! I have to do 3 loads of washing a week just for muslins!! And there is only 1 of him!!!

Jenny1231990 · 17/09/2014 18:12

I use the ones from asda. They are great, wash well and are a nice size. Not too expensive, I also got a free pack of 3 in my bounty pack x

201418 · 17/09/2014 18:14

Thanks, aldi have a baby event starting tomorrow don't they?! I may pick some up from their.

Yes I can remember the sick stage! Can't imagine it x3 tho!! I was hoping to use them also for swaddling.

I bought loads of cheap muslins last time, they went all scratchy and horrible and I didn't like using them at all. Plus most of the cheap ones aren't tumble dry proof which meant I had loads of the bloody things hanging around the place. In a moment of madness I bought a pack of the rainbow muslins. They were expensive, £30 for 7 I think, but they were a generous size, soft, tumble dryer proof, gorgeous colours and they are the only ones that didn't get binned and are ready and waiting for dc2.

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 17/09/2014 18:32

Aldi ones are great, I tumble dry them. I also got some from mothercare. They all wash and tumble dry well. Ds (13 months)constantly has one, he sleeps with it, plays with it and carrys it around all the time. So we have a lot.
I got a box of 5 rock star printed ones him from amazon for his Xmas last year, I think it was his favourite present. Grin
Thou they aren't as nice to cuddle apparently, and are huge.

eagle2010 · 17/09/2014 18:37

Ikea ones are a decent size and good value (can't remember how much!)

Good luck with triplets!

eagle2010 · 17/09/2014 18:39

Oh and if you're looking for swaddling - friendly ones, Aiden + Anais are divine. They're ridiculously expensive though so somebody needs to get them for you as a gift Grin

FoxSticks · 17/09/2014 18:42

Ooh I second Aden and Anais, we got two as a gift. Perfect for swaddling, or as a play mat or cover when feeding. Really really lovely!

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 17/09/2014 18:46

Yy to Aden and Anais swaddle.muslins. They were the one thing I was excited about getting back out for dc2. Love them

Smaller muslins I bought packs from everywhere I saw them on sale so asda aldi poundland and tesco at least. All lasted well through dd and have been laundered ready for dc2. Cant say which were better - they all just do what they need to do.

stargirl1701 · 17/09/2014 18:47

IKEA. Best ones we bought by quite a margin.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 17/09/2014 18:48

I told DH the A&A swaddles were £8. I just failed to mention that was the price per muslin and they were a pack of four Grin

In all fairness they resell well on ebay so ill be ebaying them once dc2 no longer needs them. Got quite excited when I say Jools.Oliver bringing her baby out of hospital wrapped in the same one dd had Blush

FoxSticks · 17/09/2014 18:57

I just bought another pack of aden and anais for dc2 on the eBay. I didn't pick up on the fact you were having triplets so £30 on 7 muslins probably wouldn't be great - you'd need three packs of them! Sorry and congratulations.

Keziahhopes · 17/09/2014 19:22

I bought terry nappies - in large packs on buy 2 get one free ( so 24 in total) from Mothercare. They were fantastic with a very reflux baby who was always sick until CMPI discovered. Used on top of sheet to save sheets too.

SweetPeaPods · 17/09/2014 19:32

Mine are from mothercare and pretty good and thick.
TKMaxx often have A&A ones in a lot cheaper so worth popping in regularly if you can.

fraggle84 · 17/09/2014 19:36

John lewis ones are far better than the others we tried which were asda, sainsburys, next and boots. Think they were £8 for 6

sidorek · 17/09/2014 20:20

second voice for john lewis ones - did excelent job with my first one and now will be doing it all over again for the second - worth every penny

201418 · 17/09/2014 20:41

We will also be going to IKEA to pick up our cots so will have a look at them also.

Shock the price of aiden and anais, very nice tho.

ReeseWithoutHerSpoon · 17/09/2014 20:43

Definitely agree with the aldi ones. I wouldn't have thought that one muslin would be any better than another but aldi ones were noticeably better than the others I had.

MrsCaptainReynolds · 17/09/2014 20:49

I cut up some old cotton flat bed sheets and sewed the edges. They worked very well and were lovely and soft.

Ikea ones were also great. I do have some Aiden and Anais ones too, but use as light blankets.

LotsaTuddles · 17/09/2014 20:51

DS' ones are from Sainsbury's and asda, they wash and tumble dry very well.

I'm going to get the £30 colourful ones from John Lewis in the next couple of weeks as his are a bit minging and they're used for wiping up messes anymore, he uses them as a comforter and as DC2 will be here around Christmas time I want sine that are very obviously his

Pico2 · 17/09/2014 20:56

The John Lewis ones are much softer than all of the others we bought. DD used them as a comforter, which was great, but would only accept the JL ones as a comforter, so we'd have to hunt through them all to get an acceptable one.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 17/09/2014 20:57

Aldis baby event is on tomorrow - they have 3packs for 3.29. They also have cellular blankets cheap (100% cotton for 2.99 - Moses basket size), a bargain highchair that's absolutely brill (same design as an 80 cosatto was 2yrs ago for 29.99), etc.

sidorek · 17/09/2014 20:58

A second voice for john lewis ones - did excellent job with my first child. Now the same lot will be doing it all over again for the second - worth every penny
