I bet you have more than you need. I went mad with my first, still have massive pots of talc I've never used! Didn't learn my lesson with no2 either. Bought mad things I used once. Who cares though aye.

Before my DD1 was born I used to sit in the nursery and just lay across the armchair in there and stare into her wardrobe full of little white folded vests that I had washed, twice! I used to rearrange the teddies and just potterin there, waiting, such a magical lovely time.

Lovely names you have chosen. So how come you decided to find out the sex?

I love dogs and your breeds are gorgeous. Would love to have dogs but wouldn't be fair as we're not around in the day and always out and about and we're too lazy to walk them properly.

kiskidee · 23/09/2006 21:14

i go to mansfield from time to time. dd's godfather lives there. i would love dogs but don't have the time to give the attention they need.

it is a majical time waiting to meet your first.

We weren't bothered about what sex it would be, but then we had a proper chat and decided to find out so that we could paint his room, buy a few outfits and choose names. I'm just really enjoying being pregnant at the moment although i feel like crap everyday!! i cant bear to think about when he comes out and him not being in my belly anymore really enjoying stroking my belly and his reactions to it.

How many children have you got? what ages are they?

I have 2, both girls, Charlotte (Lottie) and Eve.
Lottie is 5 on 17 Dec and Eve will be 1 on the 19 Dec!

I adored being pregnant and although I couldn't wait to meet them both I knew I'd really miss my bumps. You'r never as special and complete and wonderful as when you are pregnant. It's just the best.
But little Jack will be in your arms soon and you'll be able to sniff his little head and have his hair tickle your cheek. Ohhhhhh God, there's nothing like it.

Are you planning on breastfeeding?

kiskidee · 23/09/2006 21:24

i have one dd. she is 17 months old (19 April). I had a physically v. uncomfortable 3rd trimester but the emotions were different iyswim.

now she is a scream and everyday is majic with her.

Hi, Marie!

Fantastic waiting for a first baby, such a precious time. I have three, two girls aged 4 and 2 and a boy aged 4 mo. When I had our first we didn't have a usable bedroom for her so I did a little corner of our bedroom for her with a Peter Rabbit freize! Now we've moved and everyone has a room but baby ds is still in with us - makes night feeds so much easier! I do love his room though and take him in there for changing, he has a little wardrobe full of outfits! It never stops being magical even with a third, you just have less time to appreciate it!

Do you know, I really missed dd1 being inside when she was born, but actually seeing their tiny faces and holding their hands more than makes up for it!

Do you have a baby book or memory box ready?

MarieHannah · 23/09/2006 21:25

Thomcat

I am hoping to breastfeed but have explained to midwife and family members that i would really like to do this but if it gets to a stage that i dread feeding or am really down or he isnt getting enough milk i will bottle feed.

Should have had 36 weeks home visit from midwife yesterday but after 3 hours of waiting i rang her and she said that the other midwife hadnt informed of the appointment so couldnt do anything till wednesday!!! was really annoyed was looking forward to going over birth plan.

Agree with Thomcat, the smell of a newborn, and their fluffy hair, there is just nothing that can beat it.

nearlythree · 23/09/2006 21:27

Marie, I have breastfed and bottle fed and have enjoyed both experiences.

I am sure with support you will find breastfeeding fine.

Hi there,

we didnt have a room at first because my sister was living with us but when she moved out we decided to decorate it although he will sleep in his cot in our room for the first 6 months at least. We have a baby book which we have filled in the first 2 pages which is the family tree and name ideas and details about me and my partner etc. cant wait till he's here, found out i was pregnant at 5 weeks so it has really dragged and i suffered really badly with morning sickness for the first 4 months.

wanted to have one of those 4d scans done but they were quite pricy so couldnt in the end. plus nothing is going to be more worth it than when he's born.

have you paid any attention to the breast and bottlefeeding threads on MN? some knowledgeable women here and without them I would not still be bf at 17 months

i do recommend finding a local bf support group before you have your ds and go along so it isn't as daunting afterwards. they are very very good for support.

Thomcat · 23/09/2006 21:33

Hope you find breastfeeding ok, it takes time and patience and there will be moments you want to give up, possibly many, but then suddenly it all just clicks and starts to work. On some nights you'll feel as if all you do is breastfeed but it only lasts weeks, which in the grand scale of life is nothing. It's a truly wonderful. bonding, special thing. I stopped when DD2 was 8 months old. I'd gone back to work and just couldn't keep up with it in the end, but it was great and if I could habve I would have kept going. Tht last feed at night, makes me want to cry thinking about it. Ohhhhhhhhh you lucky, lucky thing, you've got it all to come, all laid out waiting for oyu.
Enjoy it babes.

So come on then, go over the birth paln with us now, sod the midwife, tell us about it,

Thomcat · 23/09/2006 21:34

You've reminded me to write in my girls journals tonight, haven't updated Lotties with her starting school

BENDYB · 23/09/2006 21:47

hi marie, welcome!
I'm 20, also expecting my 1st, a boy aswell! I'm due 30th oct! There is a 'due oct 06' thread if u wanna come & join us over there!

Thomcat · 23/09/2006 21:52

Marie - just wanted you to know if I don't reply it's bacasue DP is out tonight and I've gone to have a bath, read my book and get a rare early night in.

nearlythree · 23/09/2006 22:02

Marie, it all sounds so lovely. How have you decorated Jack's room? A memory box is great too - if you don't get the time to write or stick you can just throw everything in, including Jack's wristbands from hospital, his first 'coming home' outfit, cards and photos.

I have three notebooks and write each child a letter sometimes before I go to bed, maybe one day they will find them and read them but right now they are to help me remember these wonderful times.

Nemo1977 · 23/09/2006 22:09

ooo the excitment of a new baby...been so busy this time I had sort of forgotten what that feels like...Glad you said about the baby books as both Ds and DD need updating and havent even thought of one for this baby
