Positives of being pregnant...

Has anyone got any?

Currently 37 weeks and feeling hot and worn out.
Why does everything end up on the floor?
Also just spent the best part of 10 minutes trying to get the small animals in from their day in the garden (chasing them round like a looser).

Positives of being pregnant please?

I'm really trying...

Skin is pretty good.
You always have something to talk about with complete strangers (even if you don't really want to)...
I don't feel too bad about not getting everything done.
Obviously excitement that baby will be here soon...
Boobs looking nice...

Anyone want to add? Trying to remain positive.. :)

You get a baby at the end of it. 4 years ttc and I'd give anything to be pregnant.

raydown · 25/07/2014 20:15

I can imagine it must be really tough in this weather though, you haven't got too much longer to go until you meet your baby though Thanks

lilyblue5 · 25/07/2014 20:16

Oh believe me I am so happy, just wondered how others are finding it...
There are a lot of moany posts, I wanted a positive one...
Didn't mean to sound like I am ungrateful, obviously blessed. Blush
Sorry if I have offended...

Sorry I didn't mean to make it sound like you'd offended me. I think there something really beautiful about pregnant women. I bet you look amazing even if you don't feel it.

Heatherbell1978 · 25/07/2014 20:23

I'm 37 weeks too. I'm feeling ok just now actually, bump is pretty big but I'm normally such a cold person so I'm finding the heat quite nice.....plus my skin and hair look really good. My freckles are a lot more prominent these days which I like. Just wish I knew when baby is likely to appear!

lilyblue5 · 25/07/2014 20:30

Oh, I like it ;)
Wouldn't mind some freckles!
I did see a lady on another post mention sleep orgasms, sadly not experienced those but that is certainly a pregnancy plus!

Great idea for a thread... I have been looking for pregnancy upsides too.

I know it is v lucky to be pregnant when others are ttc but it is still a tough physical thing to endure, and sometimes it seems like the only positive stuff the internet has to offer is all of that "I am so blessed I am a magical life-creating miracle and every second of being pregnant is joyful and beautiful" crap, which doesn't fool me for a second.

I am neck-deep in morning sickness at the mo BUT would like to look on the bright side.

Admittedly mine are mostly quite selfish:

  • good excuse not to go to tedious social events: can't drink, too tired, going to stay home with Netflix and a box of donuts thanks
  • Looooooooong baths and nobody can complain
  • Don't feel obliged to give up a seat on the train (ha, YOU non-pregnant suckers can stand up in the rush hour heatwave, I don't care!!!) because I know if I did stand up in that heat I would faint and/or vomit everywhere
WillYouDoTheFandango · 25/07/2014 20:36

Nice thick shiny hair.

You get to wear enormous knickers that never ride up your arse.

Quite specific this one - my dad waited on me hand and foot when I went round! You'd think I was the first woman ever to be pregnant. Grin

People are smiley and nice to you when they see you're pregnant (where I love anywY)

goatsocks · 25/07/2014 20:40

YES to the enormous knickers.

spanky2 · 25/07/2014 20:42

Okay, you can't drink, eat seafood or pate, but at the end you get a baby. Ooh I love babies! It is hot, and again no wine, but think of your lovely baby. DH doesn't know but I would have another baby, too old really. Also there is not another time in your life when anyone will come up to you and touch your stomach! I also love gas and air. At least in labour you can have as much as you like, I can't, I'm not in labour.

spanky2 · 25/07/2014 20:43

Oh, I forgot, you can eat as much as you like without worrying that your stomach sticks out!

Marnierose · 25/07/2014 20:43

Everything. I feel wonderful and love the baby kicking

squizita · 25/07/2014 20:43

You can go into a cafe on your own and order a massive cake and a stupid poncy decaf iced drink with sprinkles and stuff it in your gob and NO ONE BATS AN EYELID.

You never catch sight of yourself and think 'oh dear, I have a food baby' afterwards because if you did your actual baby would hide it! Grin

I'm only carrying thanks to the wonders of modern anti-coagulants (I have APS) so my joy at that is balanced by the 'joy' of injecting my arse cheek with a very burny liquid every single morning for 9 months.
Which my rational brain is very grateful for because it protects me from thrombosis and my baby from miscarriage/stillbirth/premi birth.
But jabbing a needle in your flabby butt at 6am ... Grin I'm not all 'woo miracle' about it. I'm more "thank goodness for education, charities, awareness groups and that we live in a place where women can be Drs, else the (female) Prof who got this into the NHS treatment book wouldn't have done so...".

Mrsgrumble · 25/07/2014 20:44

I love buying the little nappies and bits and pieces

Looking forward to more merry leave Grin

Acne has cleared

I don't have to diet .. Phew

Little brother of sister for DS..

Oh yes,, and the cuteness of what's to come

queenofthepirates · 25/07/2014 20:47

because this is the lull before the storm and when baby arrives, all hell breaks lose and you wonder how they managed to suck all the hours out of the day and how it's 9pm and you're still in your pjs.

lilyblue5 · 25/07/2014 20:47

Looking forward to trying out the gas and air, hospital tour on the weekend... Wonder if anyone will notice me if I try sneaking some...
Yes to baby kicking, especially the hiccups! They always make me feel good.
Looks like I need to get to M&S for some MASSIVE knickers!! Lol

lily I got offered some on the sly as a joke I think by the 1st aid ambulance team at an event I was at! Grin

lilyblue5 · 25/07/2014 20:54

Haha, fab!
I've been told it makes you feel drunk so that should be fun, gave up drinking a LONG time ago when started ttc so pretty much forgotten what it feels like..

Though I'm sure I will be in too much pain to enjoy it properly, maybe I can have a puff after the event to make sure I get the full experience..

spanky2 · 25/07/2014 21:06

I had so much with ds2 that I couldn't feel my hands! Feeling drunk with no hangover. Just relax and go with it. When ds2 was crowning the midwife made me breathe normal air a bit, I even had gas and air with my stitches! For a quick fix, stand in front of the fridge freezer with the doors open.

ImBrian · 25/07/2014 21:15

My nails are awesome, boobs are scarily huge, no hangovers!

squizita · 25/07/2014 22:09

IamBrian yes the nails! Mine look like acrylics, so thick and long!

mssleepyhead · 25/07/2014 22:22

Lots of shopping for cute things
Perfect excuse for lazing on the sofa/lying in the bath for HOURS
Unlimited amount of ice creams / ice lollies with no guilt
Blaming pretty much anything on "hormones"
Maternity leave
Feeling baby moving

LBNM19 · 25/07/2014 23:05

Aww this is nice, I've found my pregnancy really hard. The only nice thing I would say is feeling him move I love that and obviously I can't wait till he's finally here :)

dontevenblink · 26/07/2014 00:35

Not having to suck my tummy in Grin and being able to sit down and not feel guilty about it (not that my 3dc let me do this very much...)

I do love seeing my bump and feeling baby move. This is my last so trying to savour the last few weeks :)
