Positives of being pregnant...

Has anyone got any?

Currently 37 weeks and feeling hot and worn out.
Why does everything end up on the floor?
Also just spent the best part of 10 minutes trying to get the small animals in from their day in the garden (chasing them round like a looser).

Positives of being pregnant please?

I'm really trying...

Skin is pretty good.
You always have something to talk about with complete strangers (even if you don't really want to)...
I don't feel too bad about not getting everything done.
Obviously excitement that baby will be here soon...
Boobs looking nice...

Anyone want to add? Trying to remain positive.. :)

Tight tops

Good hair (although i know what happens post birth)

The DDs cuddling the bump

Passthebiscuitspls · 26/07/2014 08:30

Not having to breathe in all the time, and tight tops actually look good!
Eating more cake
Seeing the kids get excited about the baby, that's my fav so far!
Thinking about names, I love that bit!
Not having to worry about fitting into jeans and constantly going to the gym for it!

I do love being pregnant, but like everyone, by the end I'm totally over it! Xx

This is a lovely post, as mostly I use MN to offload as I've found pregnancy so much harder than I ever expected - mostly the exhaustion.

Feeling him move.
The anticipation of meeting him and what he will be like! So excited now @32 weeks.
Seeing my family so excited about baby coming.
People being extra nice and making the effort to help.
Always getting a seat on the tube if I need one - and often I really do.
Not feeling guilty about not doing things like housework.
Learning to slow down and relax and enjoy doing very little - this is not something that comes naturally to me, but I'm starting to enjoy being lazy - to be honest, I have little choice, but at least it isn't frustrating me like it did in the early days.
No hangovers is definitely nice. Saving money on taxis/booze.
Skin has been much nicer since around 26 weeks. No spots. I would even consider leaving the house without foundation for the first time since I was about 16!
Having an legitimate excuse to leave early at social events that I've had enough of.

MrsGiraffe12 · 26/07/2014 09:40

Early nights

Laying around not doing much

Lots of ice pops

People giving up the seats on busses for me :-)

6 year old DS hugging and talking to baby all the time and telling me how excited he is and always thanking me for a brother or sister

Getting teary and emotional when thinking there will be another person who is half me, half DH in the world and imagining how beautiful/ handsome they will be (based on the gorgeousness of my DS - biased I know)

The miracle of a baby after loss

I'm only 7+6 so looking forward to experiencing so w of these positives (I'm sadly lacking in them so far). Don't get too excited about the gas and air though, I had some and it didn't alter the pain one bit and just made me vomit. Won't bother next time. Sorry, that wasn't very positive either was it!!

Bellyrub1980 · 26/07/2014 20:18

I'm 27 weeks and have been pretty lucky so far (touch wood!). I'm really enjoying the experience of being pregnant at the moment, it's something that has a always fascinated me, but realise the worst is yet to come!

Feeling the baby move is pretty incredible!

I've also really come to appreciate a completely alcohol free life. I never realised how crap it made me feel. Can't really see me ever drinking again.

moggle · 26/07/2014 20:34

23 weeks here:
My skin is amazing (usually tons of spots)
I only have to wash my hair once a week (usually every other day)
I am in love with my baby bump and have more body confidence than I've had in years, wearing tight tops etc...
An excuse to slow down; usually I'm always on the go
After two and a half years of trying we are actually going to finally have a baby!! Woooo!!

Would just like the temperature to dial down a couple of degrees (esp at night) and I'd be completely content!!

moggle · 26/07/2014 20:35

Oh yes and a whole year off boring crummy work!!!

Bellyrub1980 · 26/07/2014 20:42

Moggle! I'm the same with the hair washing thing. I'm now every 3 days when it used to be everyday without fail. Is this a pregnancy thing then??

moggle · 26/07/2014 23:36

I reckon it is for me- my skin used to be generally pretty oily but now it is definitely on the dry side. Noticed it first about 14 weeks when I got patches of eczema on my neck and eyelids. I had to buy a whole load of new toiletries!

ThisBitchIsResting · 27/07/2014 00:21

Another nowhere who clicked on the thread after reading the title to say that you will have a newborn baby soon.

Post miscarriage it's really hard to see people complaining about their pregnancies eg in the heat. I would be so grateful for swollen ankles and constant vomiting right now.

kaykayblue · 27/07/2014 01:54

Thisbitchisresting: please don't be that person that deliberately makes other people feel guilty for complaining about physical grievances during their pregnancy. They have every right to do so. I am genuinely sorry about your miscarriage, but if these threads are hard for you...then maybe just skip them? It isn't all about you.

Many posters have already acknowledged they are very grateful to be pregnant. That probably isn't much help when faced with the day to day difficulties of it though.

lilyblue5 · 27/07/2014 09:17

Thank you ladies for all your lovely positives, it's nice to hear those instead of the negatives.
People tend to assume were 'suffering' in the heat etc but to be honest I'm enjoying the fact I can relax and not have to work!!!! Plus all those I've lollies!!!
I'm hoping my last few weeks don't fly as quickly as the rest of the pregnancy did as I'm rather enjoying it!
Of course it's scary at times (what is normal etc!) and obv anxiety about the birth... Then we get to meet out little bundles of joy. Then the hard work starts!!!!! Lol.

I think I will miss my bump!!!!!!!

Trying not to be too OTT with happiness as I know some are really suffering with various pregnancy related problems. (Gestational diabetics, SPD etc) Wishing everyone the very best though of course :)
