Wish list!! So I'm enjoying the guilty pleasure of buying things for my little bump. Getting a bit bored of the essentials and like browsing the more unnecessary products so am desperate for your recommendations for my wish list as my mum wants to buy something for the baby. I quite like the Cocoonababy so that's on my list as well as a merino wool swaddle. Anything else you've come across that you like?

Ooh yes sheepskin liner! I got a Bowron Lambskin from Mothercare on sale for around £30 and use it all the time!

Infant seat for tripptrapp

Poddle pod

Tummytub

Jumperoo

Aden&Anaïs wraps and sleeping bag

Nuna Leaf seat

We also had a Troll bed which was fab! Anything that makes feeding in bed easier is a real winner in my opinion.

Completely unessential for me since I have more slings than I probably need already (including an Ergo), but this looks lovely for winter.

Wow mermaid I'm glad I didn't read this thread earlier in pregnancy a poddle pod and tummy tub would have been essentials! Useful to know of if baby doesn't settle though!

Martie1 · 03/07/2014 11:25

loving this!! I really like the idea of the poddle pod but just do not understand the tummy tub. It seems really awkward to use?

BumpNGrind · 03/07/2014 11:39

Excuse my ignorance, but isn't the tummy tub just the same as a bucket?

EssexGirlLottie · 03/07/2014 11:43

Hi everyone.

Love the idea of the cocoonababy but i'm a little confused...

Aren't newborns meant to lie flat? Is the cocoonababy ok then?

Also, when would you use it? When baby is out of Moses basket and into cot? And then for how long? Just wondering how much use you get out of them...

Thanks

We have a Cocoonababy ready for DS3 due in 3 weeks - after 2 bad sleepers I am not taking any chances and it is rare to find a product with consistently good reviews, so really hope we are not the exception! I am viewing it as necessity rather than luxury for a few hours sleep..

EssexGirlLottie you can use them from newborn and the mattress is a product of years of research - the semi-foetal position adopted by the baby is supposed to be the best one, approved by medical professionals.
It has to sit inside a cot, not a moses basket, or can be used in your bed if you want to co-sleep safely or on the floor if you want to move it around the house for napping.
It should last about 4 months, so is pretty expensive for such a short space of time but for us it will be worth it if it actually works as settling newborns/babies can be hard, but every baby is different..

Yes how did dc1 survive without all this stuff? Any views on whether to get a co sleeping cot and a cocoonababy? Dc1 ended up in the bed and has never left, so more worried about having 2 of them in the bed but then buying both seems pretty expensive.

Tk maxx usually has giant muslins. I paid £10 for three. Aldi has them in the current baby event for £9 for 3. I used them and liked them but not nearly enough to justify paying rrp for aiden and anais.

When ds was a newborn we loved baby bundlers (basically nightgowns) from Marks and Spencer. It was easy to change nappies and they were just so cute. He could be fully dressed and I could tickle his feet while feeding him. www.marksandspencer.com/2-pack-pure-cotton-bundlers/p/p22295055

Asda has great muslins. Pack of 3 for £6.
