Wish list- non essential but amazing!

Wish list!! So I'm enjoying the guilty pleasure of buying things for my little bump. Getting a bit bored of the essentials and like browsing the more unnecessary products so am desperate for your recommendations for my wish list as my mum wants to buy something for the baby. I quite like the Cocoonababy so that's on my list as well as a merino wool swaddle. Anything else you've come across that you like?

What's a dream sheep? I love this thread. I'm going to look it up. :-)

RedToothBrush · 01/07/2014 18:08

I wanted a baby book to write things in a put in pictures. They were all a bit patronising and/or americanised.

So I made my own and have got it printed up. Its due to arrive tomorrow.

Beyond that, I don't want much as it'll just end up cluttering up the house and we don't really have the budget for it.

Juno213 · 01/07/2014 18:32

I second Ewan the dream sheep. My lo used his until 2. It was that well used that one leg broke. I wrote to the company and they replaced it, no questions asked. I was so pleased that I have one ready for new baby. I've b brought a poddle pod as well this time. I've been told that they are amazing.

MrsWombat · 01/07/2014 18:38

My amazon wish list is getting long and longer!

BeyoncesCat · 01/07/2014 18:45

ThinkIveBeenHacked I've got one great condition pm me! Smile

Lalalax3 · 01/07/2014 19:01

I'm sneaking the dream sheep onto the John Lewis shop when we order he buggy! Don't think I'd get away with sneaking on a Cocoonababy tho! Grin

ImBrian · 01/07/2014 19:11

I want the Aden and Anais swaddle wraps and a morrak car seat fleece.

MrsHende · 01/07/2014 19:13

Marking my place!

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 01/07/2014 19:15

Have done Beyonce

Cocoonababy:

Red Castle is a well known, high quality baby products brand in France.

Loving this thread and I totally want the Aden and Anais swaddle cloths too. Now to go and research all the rest of your suggestions!

ameliarose2012 · 01/07/2014 21:09

waggamamma we had one of those. It was amazing! Got used every day for the first 6 months! Though I confess we did get it second hand, so have no idea how much a new one costs!

Yoruba · 01/07/2014 22:23

Ooh I have tonnes :o dc3 is 8 weeks and with each dc I've bought myself a few non essential "treats" !

Morrck car seat wrap is GREAT! I used it every day to do the preschool run and it was fab. Bought the bigger size as it still fitted the car seat nicely but does the buggy even now he is 2.

Aden and anais swaddles: FAB. Wish I'd had these before! Would have been great for refluxy ds1. So many uses.

Rainforest peekaboo fisher price mobile. Ds 2 ADORES this. I can get everyone ready while he watches it.

Little white company cellular blankets: these are SO soft, much nicer and snugglier than the normal ones.

We have a poddle pod too- it was good in the first few days but ds is unfussed by it now. Not sure I would massively recommend that at the moment. He does sleep well in it sometimes though.

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 01/07/2014 23:29

Marking place (what am I doing? The last thing I need is more stuff to buy!)

And also trying to remember what my little luxuries were with dc1?

Gennz · 02/07/2014 02:17

Can someone explain why I need a cocoonababy? Can I fit it in the bassinet? I have FOMO.

Our big purchase (which was actually not paid for by us, very generously paid for by FIL) was a Bugaboo Buffalo - DH was initially sceptical as they are so expensive but was won over by all the features. We also got the Maxi Cosi baby car capsule to go with it.

I am trying to be restrained (but watch that go out the window once we find out the gender next week) but just got this cot blanket in navy/yellow chevron:

Madratlady · 02/07/2014 02:58

A sling! Although imo that is essential. I've heard good things about the caboo but I love my mei tai (hop-tye is the brand) and it's suitable from tiny up to around 2.5yrs old.

LittleRedDinosaur · 02/07/2014 03:07

Marking place (& buying things). We got a bed nest last time which was £££ but brilliant when I was poorly and couldn't get out of bed. DD slept much better in it than she did in the Moses basket.
And I second the jumperoo for older ones

RuckAndRoll · 02/07/2014 10:22

Another vote for a sling. Moby wrap or Close Caboo are great.

I carry DS at 11 months in a Connecta and we both love it.

booksshoescats · 02/07/2014 12:04

Totally watching this thread. Second timer but haven't even heard of half of these things (my poor deprived PFG Grin) and loads of them sound brilliant!

livingzuid · 02/07/2014 12:16

Great thread and going to buy anything that helps her sleep!

Another vote for a sling. We have a MiniMonkey which is a Dutch brand and amazing. Not sure it is available in the UK but worth a look on Amazon to see if it is there. She is out as soon as I start walking around with her in it.

redexpat · 02/07/2014 17:33

ive had a better idea than a scrapbook. trip trap high chair with new born set, so little one can join you all for dinner. thats what im wishing for anyway.

FelixFelix · 02/07/2014 17:40

We have just taken dd out of the bednest as she's too big. I'm gutted as I have to physically get out of bed in the night now Grin

Another thing - cheeky chompers neckerchews. They are dribble bibs with a chewy textures rubber bit at the point, so they have something to chew on that's attached! They are super absorbent too and dd has never soaked through one even though she's been teething terribly. Brilliant idea.

CharlesRyder · 02/07/2014 17:44

The baby bjorn bouncy chair. Yes, you can get a bouncy chair for a tenner but this one is just better! Grin

Sleepwhenidie · 02/07/2014 17:48

A cashmere cardi/coat from Brora like this - someone bought one as a gift (age 3-6m) and at the time I thought 'how ridiculous and extravagant and impractical - but in fact DD lived in it for about 4 months - it was so gorgeous and snuggly. I have to admit she wasn't a sicky baby and it wouldn't have worked once solid food came into play though! It only took 5 mins to handwash because so small.

minipie · 02/07/2014 17:49

As non essentials but really worth while items, I nominate:

  • Merino wool sleeping bags. Actually much better value than the normal ones as they fit 0-2 years.
  • Fisher price mobile. It will buy you showering time.
  • Jumperoo. Ok this is for when they are older, and you can get loads second hand so not worth buying new, but worth keeping eyes peeled for a good value second hand one now!
  • Snoozeshade. Actually if you have a sleep refuser like mine this is an essential.
  • Cocoonababy. Wish I'd had one for DD who was prem and only slept on my chest for 3 months.
  • Sheepskin liner for pram. Or, if you buy a sheepskin footmuff (with cover that zips fully off) then it can be used in winter and summer.
  • Sheepskin liner for cot. This is pure indulgence Grin
  • Tuppence and crumble star wrap. Wish I'd had it from birth - so much easier than a standard pram suit or snow suit, and fits for longer.
  • Maracas! 1.50 from amazon for 2 and the best value toy ever.
