Grrr.

I am 14 weeks with DC2 (and according to the internet and the nub/scull theory DS2). Because I already have a son, most peoples' reaction when I announce my pregnancy is that it might be a girl. Perhaps I will achieve the holy grail of 'one of each'. I feel sad for my poor, unappreciated DS2 already. And if it's a DD, what if she doesn't live up to all this hype!

Basically the hormones are making me angry, any tips for the best response to this sort of comment? Has anyone else found this annoying?

my dm just got back from holiday bearing gifts for the baby- knitted hat and booties....lovely apart from the fact its got beaded butterflys on and we are having a boy. she is desperate for a girl- even though ds and dh have let it slip its a boy. She also bought heart decorations for the babys room.

This infuriated me when I had ds2 and what surprised me most was that friends of mine even said things like "oh that's a shame, never mind". I never really said anything back as I was quite shocked at the time. I actually thought how nice it was that ds1 would have a brother and kept thinking about them being pals forever! It actually upset me towards the end.

I am now expecting ds3 and I will sharply respond to anyone that gives me any disappointment remarks 'its surprising you say that as everyone else has said how wonderful it is". That should make them think twice! ! It's just plain rude and totally unacceptable.

I have one of each and think I'm desperately lucky, of course I do, nothing to do with gender though.
When I had ds a friend of mine had a dd within the same week. I had two friends comment to me while I was holding my son about how lucky she was to have a girl and maybe I'd have a girl next, wtaf!!!?
