How many scans have you had?

I'm 32 weeks and enjoying a pretty easy problem-free pregnancy so I've only had the 12 and 20 wk scans and my regular midwife appointments so far.
But I feel sometimes that I'm alone in having so few scans. A couple of friends had babies last year and went to hospital a few times for scans when they were worried about babies movements and a guy at work today whose wife is due the same time seemed shocked that I hadn't had a scan since 20 wks.
Even yesterday I was at the mw and I asked the student she had with her what position my baby was in and she asked what the last scan showed and I said, well it was the 20 wk one so I guess transverse but it was a while ago and she seemed surprised I didn't know.
I'm sure I'm worrying unnecessarily but wondering if on the days baby is moving less (it kind of varies but generally he is active) I should be hot-footing it straight to hospital for a scan?

12 weeks and 20 weeks is standard for everyone on the NHS in my area, which I have had.
I was also sent for a growth scan at 36 weeks as baby has been measuring big.

However we had IVF so also had an early viability scan at the fertility clinic at 7 weeks (included in IVF treatment) and have paid for 3 private scans at one of those bonding type places for reassurance etc. at 11, 16 and 27 weeks and got loads of pictures too which is lovely Smile

Thanks everyone for all your responses! I feel much better now - I guess I'm being a bit over sensitive at other peoples comments about 'only' having 2 scans and I should be grateful. Honestly, the hardest thing about this pregnancy for me has been other peoples opinions on my pregnancy!!

Surprisingly, I have 3 in the nhs this time round - no complications. So, the usual 12 week (just had it) and 20 week and then a 36 week one has been booked in. Didn't have that with babies one and two. Might be because it's a research hospital doing a particular project or just their new particular protocol. No idea. Anyway, only had 12 and 20 on nhs last two times.

I've had one at 8 weeks to check viability, after a history of recurrent miscarriage, usual 12 week one, 15 weeks after a bleed, usual 20 week one. I'm due to have one at 26, 32 and 36 to check growth due to my thyroid condition which may pass to the baby. So as it stands I will have 7 by the end! I'd rather have had just the usual scans!

8 scans- 7 week due to past complications, 12 weeks, 20 weeks. Then Growth scans at 28,33,35,37 weeks due to previous iugr and a quick scan after ctg at 36 weeks due to reduced foetal movement- baby playing silly buggers as he came out to play as soon as ctg went on!

I actually struggle to work it out!
I had 4-5 scans during IVF, but excluding those:
6 weeks bleeding scan (EPU)
7 weeks follow up to the bleeding to check baby was viable (EPU)
8 weeks - post IVF follow up scan
10 weeks - for harmony test
12 weeks - normal 12 week scan
12 weeks - continual scan during a major operation, then a follow up after to reassure me that the baby was ok.
15 weeks - cervical scan
19 weeks - cervical scan
20 weeks - regular scan
21 weeks - extra 20 week scan as they couldn't see all the week before
22 weeks - cervical scan
24 weeks - cervical scan + abdominal scan on baby.

So 13 I estimate, plus the IVF scans before egg collection. I'll have one every two week from here on, if not more frequently. The cervical scans don't check on the baby other than to make sure it's still alive.

As you can tell it's a very high risk pregnancy - it would be lovely just to need a few scans, but the baby seems keen on arriving sooner than planned so they are keeping a close eye on it. I really hope ultrasounds scans don't impact on the baby!
