Pregnancy

Holy shit! This can't happen, can it?!

I'm still a bit in shock so sorry if I ramble.

I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks, showed a viable pregnancy with a heartbeat in my right horn ( bicornulate uterus with septum).

As I have a dodgy womb I was scanned and also 3d scanned by the consultant, everything looked normal.

I have just had another scan at 8 weeks, healthy 8 week old baby....and a 5 week pregnancy sack in my left horn!

I appear to have gotten pregnant, twice, at different times. Apparently this has only happened to 11 people before.

And it add another complication in to the mix a THIRD possible pregnancy was spotted, but it could be a fibroid or a molar pregnancy ( bit of a difference!) so have to see the consultant again in 9 days.

My heads spinning, I need vodka, but I guess I'll just have to settle for baileys cheesecake Grin

Don't suppose anyone knows anything about this? Or if one of the 11 people are on here that would be great!

Wow. Amazing. Congratulations and good luck. I hope
Everything goes really well with both babies. The wait must be terrible.

Wow! That's amazing, congratulations. I've heard of this but never directly. Luckily three weeks is a relatively small gap.

Guitargirl Yes, it's possible. I saw it on an episode of Grey's Anatomy.

Forgive me.

Is it possible the 5 week one was missed in the earlier scan (easy to do at that gestation), and it is just a non viable sac which hasn't grown?

E.g. It should be 8 weeks, but isn't?

Hopefully not and you have a lovely healthy set of twins in there, congratulations Thanks

Thanks all Grin

Have a scan on Thursday so will know more by then, I'll take a list of questions!

Two internal consultant scans (3d) and two internal normal scans so far through the pregnancy, so they are pretty certain they didn't miss the other guy before, he really wasn't there!

If everything goes well we might be the first couple documented with this that haven't had Ivf. Have read more about it and just can't get my head around it, it's supposed to be impossible!

I've never heard of that before! Congrats!!

Congrats!

Is this possible for you? Because we didn't have sex again after conceiving for a while due to circumstances and then some light bleeding so if this had happened to me I'd be confused!

It is possible that it's a non viable twin conceived at the same time but it is also possible that it's not! I've also heard of people who've had early scan showing babies weeks behind on growth that have caught up by 12 weeks and then measure correctly for dates. Maybe that's what's going on?

If not then you and your babies are very special and good luck! I'm excited to hear about your next scan!

To be honest I'm hoping for a less complicated outcome on Thursday! Would be lovely if it was just twins.

But the consultants seemed pretty convinced, I'm not sure it's something they'd say lightly but there's always hope!

And yes (ahem) it's entirely possible for us Grin

guitargirl that's possible.
a colleague had a very nasty divorce and paternity questions and it tuned out one twin was his the other wasn't.

Wow! I've read about this a couple of years ago I think it was called superfetation! I think a couple in America conceived in this way.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi, im new to mumsnet, but I have had a similar experience. I also have a bicornate uterus, went for an early scan at 6 wks, everything was fine, then about a week later had bleeding and pain, so went back for another scan, they found the heartbeat (left horn.) But they wanted me to speak to the consultant who told me I had bleeding on the right side where there was another sack, and also outside the uterus, which they were concerned about, as it could be a possible ectopic pregnancy. So had to stay in hospital to be monitored incase they had to operate, if it had become life threatening. Luckily bleeding outside uterus has stopped, but still have bleeding from the right horn, which maybe on going for the rest of the pregnancy. Im just so happy to have a viable pregnancy as have been ttc 2nd baby for 7 yrs. Good luck in your pregnancy!

Wow that is amazing. I had no idea it was even possible.

I hope your scan goes well and they aren't too far apart in gestational age.

Please keep us all updated on how you all get on - what a special pregnancy!

um, i dont mean to piss on your parade, but my dating scan at 6 weeks showed one sac and one pregnancy, had to go back the week after to check and the sac had vanished, thought nothing more of it until i delivered the afterbirth and the mudwife told me that there was a b-placenta. so wait and see.

Thanks all Grin I will keep you posted on Thursday.

Red that's terrible I'm very sorry. Thanks

But the consultant doesn't seem to think its that. He said he couldn't understand it because if it was a failed pregnancy sac it should have been there and visible at the 5, 6, 7 week scans, but would have just stopped growing. But it only became visible at the 8 week scan.

He's fairly convinced they couldn't have missed it before, especially with the 3d scans ( they wanted to get a good look at my exact womb shape.

Having said that and after researching vanishing twin and how impossible what's happened is supposed to be I am now so worried they got it wrong. I haven't been able to find a vanishing twin story yet with a sac that doesn't appear for weeks first, just seems to be people that were scanned once and it was missed.

Oh well. Trying not to think about it until Thursday! Wish me luck Grin
