Hello ladies

I am completely and utterly freaking out. I found out I was pregnant on Friday (I am/ was 5 weeks pregnant) and ever since then id been getting a few niggling pains but nothing I was massively worried about. Yesterday though I started getting stabbing pains on my right hand side and when I went to the toilet I had started spotting a little bit. The pain and spotting got worse throughout the day and so I called nhs direct who advised I go to my local emergency doctor which I did. He examined me and said he couldn't say whether I was miscarrying or not and basically sent me on my way. That evening when I got in I did another pregnancy test to see if it still came back positive which I did - I've now discovered that you can still get positive results for up to 7 weeks after miscarrying though! Then I thought I'll go in the shower and go to bed early. So in the shower I started bleeding dark red blood not a huge amount but started getting severe cramps. So I went to bed and thought oh well obviously wasn't meant to be. Then today I expected to wake up to a massive amount of blood and there was nothing and the cramps and stabbing pains had stopped. But later in the morning I started getting stabbing pains on my left hand side and spotting again. This evening I passed blood again but don't know how much because it was into the toilet - sorry for TMI - but the blood was very dark brown/red. No more blood since then but still continued having pains - stabbing pains and back ache. Can someone please tell me that I'm not wrong in thinking I am in the middle of miscarrying. Everyone I've spoken to has told me to calm down and it can be normal. But I've read that when pregnant you can have either pain or bleeding which is normal but not both.
I am literally freaking out ConfusedConfusedConfused

Hello ladies

It was good news at the hospital my hcg levels had doubled which it was so thrilled about and last night felt so good. No pain and no bleeding. This morning though horrendous pain - to the point where I had to leave work AGAIN! - and bleeding again. I'm due back at the hospital next week for scan. So pissed off that I'm in even worse pain now. I seriously think the pregnancy is only going to go one way :( x

Lacey I'm worried about the pain. Have they mentioned ectopic to you and ruled it out? Have they scanned you to check the baby is growing in the uterus? Is the pain one sided ?

Laceym1987 · 14/06/2014 11:58

They scanned but couldn't see anything. I though ectopic but the pain is on one side one day then the other the next and then today I'm getting cramping pains (rather than the stabbing on the sides). I could possibly brush the pain off before as growing and stretching pains but not for a whole week x

Lacey, I hope this works out fine as well. Just be aware of ectopic signs such as shoulder tip pain and obviously if you get it you need to go to A&E.

RebeccaCloud9 · 14/06/2014 22:13

Just seen this thread and have everything crossed for you. I had some sharp pains very early on and convinced myself that it must be ectopic. Pains were in different spots, left and right and sometimes really bad. But turned out to be... gas! I couldn't believe that's what it was but your digestion really slows down and does some strange things!

Hi ladies

Thank you for the thoughts. I can pretty much get over the bleeding now - maybe that's just the way my body deals with pregnancy - but I'm starting to get to the end of my tether with the pain now. The pain has completely moved to the crease (where you leg meets your body) and nothing will shift it. I'm thinking poss trapped nerve or something.. Never would I ever have thought pregnancy could be so difficult! I thought at worst it would be terrible morning sickness or horrendous tiredness never would I have thought bleeding!!

Don't know if anyone's still reading this thread but thought I would update that I was sent to the hospital again today for severe pain and bleeding and it turns out i miscarried over the weekend. Good luck to everyone who's pregnant and thank you for all the advice and support I received from you all xx

Oh Lacey I am so sorry Sad. Did they say why there was so much pain? Have you got painkillers to help?

Hand holding.

Laceym1987 · 16/06/2014 21:52

Not really. Rather annoyingly I've got to go back for bloods (AGAIN - I'm gonna have no blood left at this rate lol) and ultrasound to make sure everything's gone/going. I've been given Codeine and paracetamol.
I am a little pissed off by the fact that everything was fine on Friday so I thought that they were just gonna turn round and say it was a trapped nerve or something that was causing me pain. But the stabbing pain on Saturday was so bad that to be honest I was just begging to have a miscarriage cause I couldn't cope with the pain - but very minimal bleeding which has come in full force since getting the news bizarrely enough. Anyway here's to the most pointless pregnancy on the planet :/ x

Lacey I'm so sorry to hear that! I was really hoping and praying for you that it was all going to work out. It must be hard but you will see a way through! It happens a lot more than any of us realise I think. I hope you will be okay and next time it will all run a lot smoother! "What's for you won't go by you" ?? Thanks xxx

Lacey I am sorry this has happened. How awful especially after it was looking more optimistic just days ago. Life is sucky and cruel sometimes. Look after yourself x

maddyw1988 · 18/06/2014 10:33

oh Lacey this is the worst news ever. I'm so sorry, not that that will make any difference to you, (had 2 miscarriages in thw past) I know that nothing anyone can say will make it any better or ease the pain. however I'm pretty sure I speak for everyone here when I say that if you need to chat or anything we r all here for u xx

Laceym1987 · 18/06/2014 15:36

Thanks again guys. Sat here on my own waiting for my ultrasound to confirm that everything's going / gone and for the first time I actually feel like crying. So sad sitting round here with all the pregnant women. Just been such a stressful week and half and I really appreciate everyone's support and kind words on here. I keep thinking oh well I would have struggled so maybe it's for the best but I know that no matter what I would have struggled and been happy with my baby. Just one of those things though x

I'm so sorry Lacey Thanks

It's terrible your having to sit surrounded by happy women.

Will be thinking of you.
