I am completely freaking out

Hello ladies

I am completely and utterly freaking out. I found out I was pregnant on Friday (I am/ was 5 weeks pregnant) and ever since then id been getting a few niggling pains but nothing I was massively worried about. Yesterday though I started getting stabbing pains on my right hand side and when I went to the toilet I had started spotting a little bit. The pain and spotting got worse throughout the day and so I called nhs direct who advised I go to my local emergency doctor which I did. He examined me and said he couldn't say whether I was miscarrying or not and basically sent me on my way. That evening when I got in I did another pregnancy test to see if it still came back positive which I did - I've now discovered that you can still get positive results for up to 7 weeks after miscarrying though! Then I thought I'll go in the shower and go to bed early. So in the shower I started bleeding dark red blood not a huge amount but started getting severe cramps. So I went to bed and thought oh well obviously wasn't meant to be. Then today I expected to wake up to a massive amount of blood and there was nothing and the cramps and stabbing pains had stopped. But later in the morning I started getting stabbing pains on my left hand side and spotting again. This evening I passed blood again but don't know how much because it was into the toilet - sorry for TMI - but the blood was very dark brown/red. No more blood since then but still continued having pains - stabbing pains and back ache. Can someone please tell me that I'm not wrong in thinking I am in the middle of miscarrying. Everyone I've spoken to has told me to calm down and it can be normal. But I've read that when pregnant you can have either pain or bleeding which is normal but not both.
I am literally freaking out ConfusedConfusedConfused

I think that all sounds positive. The test was positive and you cervix was closed. That's going in the right direction I think! It might just be too early to see anything. All scan machines are different remember! The one I got last week must have been super duper. I think that all sounds like great news! Chin up! xx

Hoping its good news for you Lacey

Laceym1987 · 11/06/2014 15:03

Hi ladies

Thanks so much for all the positive thoughts just clinging into hope now for when I go back at 4 for the results. Felt so positive after the first two good results and then the ultra sound scanner was just so snotty and abrupt and I was like HmmHmmHmm so just praying that when I go back it'll be good levels. I've not had one done before today so I guess they're gonna go off what levels should be?
I'm just hoping that the fact I haven't bled yet today - apart from the old blood that was on my cervix which they cleaned off - and at the moment not in too much pain is a good sign. Just please god ??????

Blood results read 580 hgc level they weren't sure if that was good and have asked me to go back on Friday to check if they've increased. Don't know how to feel about that...

That is in the normal range for 4-5 weeks. It fits with not being able to see anything on the scan. At 5 weeks the embryo is only a millimetre or two across so not much to see even with a powerful machine.

Also is it 5 weeks from your last period? Unless you were tracking ovulation you can't be totally sure when you conceived so you could only be 4.5 weeks and at this stage even a couple of days can make a big difference in what can be detected.

Fingers crossed that you get good news on Friday.

I think you should feel good!! It's there it's just early!! Honest I would be happy with the results! Try as chill out and not be so hard on yourself! You are pregnant, the test said so! Keep thinking of all the positive things you have been told today! Grin Plus the pain has eased and no more blood!! Today has been good!!xxx

Laceym1987 · 11/06/2014 18:05

True Gem but I have had a bit of blood since coming home but maybe that's from the examination?? It did mega hurt!! X

Hi Lacey.

They absolutely will scan you, I had one at 5 weeks to check for ectopic pregnancy.

I don't mean to scare you, all is probably fine but pain & bleeding means they have to scan you.

Fingers crossed for you Thanks

LadyNexus · 11/06/2014 18:09

maddyw1988 · 11/06/2014 18:27

Just had a read through, good luck for Friday!
Perfectly normal for them to take regular blood samples to check your hug levels, I was at the Gp every day for two weeks whilst they took what felt like gallons of blood!
I'm not an expert but could it be implantation bleeding that you were experiencing?
Fingers crossed for you Thanks

Laceym1987 · 11/06/2014 23:17

Thank you just praying to God xx

I had a scan at 5 weeks as had the same presenting symptoms as you. Also had similar levels come back from bloods. I was really ill afterwards and felt like something terrible was happening on a number of occasions. I saw my consultant at 11 weeks who listened to everything I said and got a mobile scanning unit to check the baby and 'Hey Presto' there it was jumping about on the screen. I had convinced myself it wasn't meant to be and was truely in shock. I hope you have the same end result xx Just don't give up hope xx

Laceym1987 · 12/06/2014 07:04

Thanks dawnie, that's really reassuring xx

Been for my scan this morning and they could see a sac this time and what they think was the beginning of a yolk sac. waiting for bloods to come back now and they have dated me at 5weeks 1day. I'll let you know when I get results back. how are you feeling today? not stressing out I hope xx

Gemz1806 · 12/06/2014 12:39
