Love Luke Alexander

Like Alexandra, also had instant Lazytown images with Stephanie (foxtrot, my dd 2.8 also smitten)

And like Hannah a lot. We're expecting a dd2, but dh won't go with Hannah, grrrf.

Pollyanna · 01/09/2006 16:10

I really Like Jesse - would there really be playground taunts? (I thought "you big Jessie" was quite an old fashioned phrase) - dh vetoed it for us for this reason though. I like Luke Alexander (or Alexander Luke) the best out of your combinations.
Not that keen on Stephanie, but Stephanie Alexandra is the best combination imo. I really like Alexandra.

MamaG · 01/09/2006 16:24

Luke Alexander

Stephanie Alexandra - JS is too may "ie" endings

Twinkie1 · 01/09/2006 16:28

Sorry to say that Jesse sounds a bit white trash!!! (Really sorry though!!)

Other names are lovely although I don;t know any nice Lukes!!

Scoobydooooo · 01/09/2006 16:33

I love the name LUKE

Don't like Jesse/ie & really don't like stephanie.

Not keen on Alexamder/ra either

Sorry

MamaG · 01/09/2006 16:34

I love Luke and would have had it for my DS if my surname hadn't rhymed with warm!

Stefallie · 02/09/2006 14:35

Hi Nemo1977

Def. Luke Alexander and Stephanie Alexandra.

My name is Stefanie. Spelt diff way. Not too many Stefanie's or Stef's around I've found. Didn't grow up with many - think I knew of two. In saying that though, now there are three of us at work!

sleepysooz · 02/09/2006 14:47

You must name your baby what you want to call them. Everybody will get used to what you chose, i had an awful time thinking of names for my twins, and there were alsorts of comments, my own mother said she couldn't call my son by that name she was going to call him something else, she did the same for my first son, though she liked dd name, ten years and 3 years down the line she loves their names, so chose what you want, all the names you have suggested are lovely, and I particularly love jessie so if you like it have it, its your baby, everbody will get used to it!

Good luck and enjoy your precious baby! when is it due?

sleepysooz · 02/09/2006 14:50

Sorry, just one more thing. Think about what the name is going to be shortened to, cause I like Holly and Oliver 10 years ago but my MIL shortened them to oli (with Notts twang) hence I couldn't name my child either names!

thirtysomething · 02/09/2006 15:07

agree can't go wrong with Alexander/ra middle names...
If you are looking for other suggestions to go with Adam and Hannah, here goes, based on families I know with one or more child using either/both of those names!
David
Emily
Alex
Rachel
Sarah
Megan
Rebecca
Charlotte
Martha

The other names that seem quite popular and timeless around here (Midlands) but not over-popular IYSWIM are:
James Oscar Tom William George Matthew Jacob
Joshua Henry Max Oliver Charlie Alfie Lucas/Luca Ben and:
Harriet Jessie(yes, know quite a few...) Anna Millie Eve/Evie Felicity Olivia Imogen Ella, Ellie, Elisabeth/Beth, Emma, Poppy, Chloe, Rosa/Rosie, Lucy Lily Amy and Abbie

Nemo1977 · 02/09/2006 17:28

Joolstoo · 02/09/2006 17:29

girl = SA
boy = LA (but I'd have it the other way around!)

squishy · 03/09/2006 11:21

Choosing names is soo hard, isn't it?! We've known middle names for ages (if boy, it's his 'family' name and if girl, it's my Mum's name). But we haven't been thinking about how they go with first name, I suppose just because neither of us use our middle names, we reckon LO can leave it out!! We both LOVE Luke, but are both HUGE Star Wars fans and not sure if we could resist the Alec McGuinness twang! Best of luck, we're due in 8 weeks and only have one first name for each that we both like (but neither of us are 100% about).

fussymummy · 08/09/2006 01:36

Really don't like Jessie.

I know two Lukes and both get called PUKEY LUKEY not very nice playground banter!!

What about Liam that's nice.

Like Alexandra/er.

You could have this as first name and shorten to Alex, whatever baby is!

DH called Luke Christopher ... yes he got pukeylukey but kids (and adults) will always find something for any name.

Great thing -- can't be shortened! Most people respond very positively to his name.

Even greater thing -- it is a strong name. And if you want a reflection on character ... he is is kind, noble, respectful, full of fun, sporty and a fantastic man (without being a mush).
