Did anyone try to conceive a boy and get one?

I know it's old wives tales, but I'd really like one and wonder if anything works!

I conceived a girl bang on ovulation day. What's the obsession? Either sex is great, and surely a healthy baby is by far the most important aim?

ChicaMomma · 01/05/2014 12:10

Of course either sex is great and healthy is more important- but this is an internet forum, where people exchange information, anecdotal or otherwise.

I'l be trying for a girl next time (and please god this boy will be healthy, this is ALL that matters) so will try all the 'girl tricks'. If they work, great- if they dont, no harm done. The baby will either be healthy or not, trying these 'tricks' isnt going to influence that particular outcome one way or another.

If you want a boy, you need to move to my street. No girls born here for over a decade.

ChicaMomma · 01/05/2014 12:17

Are you serious Emma? that's mental! what are the theories doing the rounds?

EmmaGellerGreen · 01/05/2014 12:34

Yep, absolutely true. No theories, just knowing looks when a new pregnancy is announced.

It must be something in the water- quite literally!!!

Hi Chica, I read somewhere to conceive a girl, take folic acid however as a supplement to help boost my system I am taking folic acid is that not going to affect my ph for my boy?

do you have any suggestion on an alternative supplement?
N.B: I know this is an old thread - so sorry, just desperate now

GoshHashana · 20/07/2020 08:46

Desperate? That's a bit extreme. Just be happy with the child you get, if you're lucky enough to conceive.

@MommaG1 I have no idea about deliberately trying to conceive one sex or the other, but folic acid is an important supplement that everyone should take when TTC and over at least the first trimester of pregnancy.

If it makes any difference to you, I was on a high dose of folic acid (5mg instead of 400ug, so 10x higher) due to increased BMI. I am expecting a boy.
