hi again camera, there is some good info about optimal foetal positioning here

I think the main things to try are the kneeling on all fours and don't slouch back in the sofa of an evening, try and sit leaning forward.

thanks HM, its such a minefield will look at the website, cheers

You might want to check a thread in the childbirth section of mumsnet. It's called something like "Baby is in the back to back position". My ds was in this postion when I gave birth and it wasn't pleasant!! There's lots of good suggestions on how to help turn the baby in that thread - well worth a look. Good luck!

thanks all fouynd the turning baby thread lots of good ideas how long to you reckon i have to be on my all fours at as session to make it worthwhile?

Psychobabble, this is something I'm really interested in, too. Do you mind me asking when you found out, if it was too late to change? Thanks

poppiesinaline · 27/08/2006 11:16

My first was back to back too - not nice labour

With my 2nd and 3rd I scrubbed my floors every day for 15 mins or so at the end of my pregnancy. They were both in perfect position and I had very clean floors Good luck camera, hope you get that baby turned.

bananaloaf · 27/08/2006 11:35

ds1 was back to back with ds2 every night i watch the tv on all fours or leaning over a exercise ball. he was positioned prefectly for birth and i would like to think that it was my preparation! ds2 born in 4 hours no help. good luck

LOL! Thanks! I've heard that, too, but have no floors to scrub! Am sure I could scrub skirting boards or something, but the mood hasn't taken me yet!! Am trying to do all fours and birthing ball a bit and not recline too much!!

flash1 · 28/08/2006 15:54

Hi Camera,

I don't really feel qualified to give anyone advice as I am currently a nervous wreck whos 1st will be induced tomorrow!! But my baby was in back to back position until last week. I borrowed my friend pilates ball and satover it every night for about 1/2 hr-1hr and when I went to bed tried to keep mainly on my left side and did nnot sit in a comfy sofa with legs up since MW told me off! She said she didn't know what I had done but it had definately turned big time! May have been a fluke but think it worked. I agree that clenaing floors will probably help too, anything apparently where you are on all fours! (he can forget that!!) x :0

thanbks everyone well am
sittingon exercise ball instead of chairs for meals and not sitting on the sofa find being on all fours to painful for my shoulders and have been swimming so am feeling cofident have a mw appot on thursday so will see if baby has turned - dc should have sone with all the effort being put in.

my baby is b2b please help

pebblemum · 01/09/2006 22:05

Ds1 was back to back, it was a very hard delivery but he was my first so had nothing to compare it to plus it took 21hrs so that may have made it feel worse. I didnt need any help with the delivery but i did find it hard to push him out, it felt like he was slipping back up in between pushes, not a nice feeling.
ds2 was back to back at first but changed position all by himself the month before he was born. His was a lot easier/nicer/quicker delivery.
Good luck

anothereddie · 18/09/2006 17:28

First pregnancy was B2B, keen to avoid it second time round (had CS.. ) so will follow all advice seen so far. Anyone know anything about alternative stuff that helps? I heard acupuncture was good for breech but don't know much about it.

Astrophe · 18/09/2006 17:32

both mine were posterior and nothing turned them - must be the shape of my uterus/pelvis. Not trying to discourage you - its worth trying to get the front facing, but wanted to say that you will get through it even if you can't turn them, so don't panic. I had NVDs with Pethadine for both of mine...you can do it!

carrotcake · 18/09/2006 19:20

I've been worrying about this as my last one was OP and I had to have a section. Was meant to be a home birth and I'm keen to avoid another cs, but I think dd had also put her neck up and was in distress so I'm hoping that won't happen again. I now know that the erratic contractions and failure to progress were all signs of her trying to turn so as long as there's no distress this time, I'm confident a vbac is possible even with an OP. I will attempt to be on all fours towards the end as well, it will be much harder not to slump on the sofa in the evening though!

3andnomore · 19/09/2006 15:24

CC,In general...rather then sitting on a sofa and slump....sitting on a Gymball instead is brill, also really back strenghtening
My ys was OP and in the military position (head up straight) and I ended up with a Emergency C-section, instead of that planned Homebirth...but with es, even though he was OP, I gave Birth vaginally and can't say that it was such a bad experience at all!

Bethbe · 19/09/2006 15:40

I'm B2B too! Not happy about in and confused as I always sit upright and even sleep on my front still sometimes even though I'm 31 weeks!

Perhaps will try scrubbing floors, but we have lots of spiders in our house and I'm worried I won't be able to jump up quickly enough !

3andnomore · 19/09/2006 16:20

Bethbe...31 weeks is far to early to worry about position, really....as your Baby still will turn about lots
