Hi Camera

Find out more about why you had a c-section last time in the end. Did they turn the baby last time with forceps? If s/he still wouldn't come you may have a pelvic outlet problem - ask for an internal examination - completely pain free by senior gynaecologist not midwife. If you had a CS because of an outlet problem (protruding bones etc) you may need to think about a planned section. I had an emergency section 1st time with a B2B baby - absolutely no way she was coming out. Planned section 2nd time (didn't want it - was advixed after internal) was fabulous - easy easy peasy to get over, different ball game altogether.

Make sure you have the full facts is all I'm trying to say

Good luck - I hope you get the birth you want

look on google for stuff about OFP - optimal foetal positioning- Mary Cronk ( independent midwive ) has lots of good advice and association of radical midwives too - lots of stuff about getting baby in right position. - sorry if repeating - not read whole thread.
my DD started OP , turned in labour to LOA - painful! but once she turned, labour v.v. quick . if stays B2B - doesn't necc mean C/S delivery - but can mean longer slower labour.

Thanks 3andnomore! I kinda thought 31 weeks was a bit early as even if I managed to correct it now surely there's time for it to move back!

It's just that the idea of a normal birth is scary enough, - without being told that it might be 'extra painful' and 'extra long'!

carrotcake · 20/09/2006 21:11

3andnomore, that's reassuring, was your labour quite long with the op vaginal birth and do you think having the cs previously made it any harder? My midwife kindly said, 'ooh you can't have a home birth after a cs, if you rupture you'll be unconscious before you reach the hospital'. I don't actually want another home birth after last time, but now I can't get that bl**dy sentence out of my head even though rupture is apparently extremely rare. I did borrow a birth ball off a friend last time but tbh, didn't really sit on it till I was overdue when I bounced up and down a few times! Might use it properly this time

Bethbe...my best advice is to just try and relax and keep an open mind and well...what will be will be....iykwim...every woman labours differently and most do very differently with every Baby...I am a good example of that...3 boys but Birthexperiences different each time!
CC it was my first es that I was able to get out easily even though he was op....labour started with diarhoe, sorry tmi, and mild crapms at midnight and he was born 8-9 hours later, after those first mild twinges....wemt to hossie at around 5-6am was only 4cm's dilated and sometime after 8am or was it 9am he was born!
MS was a straightforward Birth!
YS, well...he was op but also military positions and tbh I think the m/w's at home just got scared which is why we ended up with transfer and trial of ventouse and then emergency C-section...but if I ever had another I would try for HBAC and probably hire an Independent m/w this time!

3andnomore · 20/09/2006 21:23

Carrotcake you really want to look at the Homebirth Org link ...they have all sort of examples of scenarios, etc.....on there

3andnomore · 20/09/2006 21:24

oops link slightly wrong!
proper link I hope:)

Cheers, 3, haven't seen that site before, will go and look now. Can't afford a independant mw but am seriously considering a doula, would be nice to have a familiar face throughout this time round

3andnomore · 20/09/2006 22:41

I kow what ya mean....and if, should I ever have another one, could not afford a indie m/w I would consider a doula, too...dh is strong, so am I, but it is very hard to keep on track when you are emotionally involved and inlabour, having a bay and the m/w's start worrying...you just imagine the worst case scenario!
Got to say, am hoping thatmaybe one day, when Kids are bigger I might be a doula...it must be a fab job!
