I did a home pregnancy test, exactly a week ago, which was positive. We were thrilled as we had been trying for over 6 months.
On late Saturday night (approx 5 weeks pregnant) i got a small amount of pale brown discharge. I was slightly panicked!
The following day I found blood which was bright red. This has carried on for the past 3 days. I had slight cramps on the first day but no pains since.
I went to the GP on Monday morning who referred me to the Early Pregnancy Unit. They said I was to early on to do any scans or conclusive tests. I have to go back on Friday. It is Wednesday now and I am really getting myself into a state. Have I miscarried or is this just a blip. Has anyone had similar symtoms to me and what were your outcomes?
PLease get in touch
xx

Hi

Just to say that I had proper periods until I was four months with my daughter and only when they stopped did I know I was preg, I started bleeding at five weeks with my son last year and bleed until I was 16 weeks. Had seven scans and really bad scare when i lost a lot of blood at 14 weeks. My little chap is fast asleep in his cot now and I am expecting again, and bleeding again. Went for my first scan last week (am nine weeks) and all was ok. It's one of those things that you never expect or think will happen but some people just bleed for no reason at all but their babies are fine. I really hope that is the case for you too. Take it really easy and fingers and toes crossed for you xxx

whitedaisy · 08/09/2006 11:10

Hi. Just got back from my scan and I'm afraid it was bad news,no more baby.(sad) We will just have to try again. The consultant said that it is usually very easy to get pregnant again straight after a miscarriage. The thing that really upset me though was two women sitting outside the maternity unit about 8 mth pregnant SMOKING! How selfish? Not just to their babies but also to people with bad news like me or people having difficulty getting pregnant. It really, really winds me up! Thanks to you all for being there, this is a great site. xxxx

LittleMerlin · 08/09/2006 11:13

Sorry to hear your news Whitedaisy, but you will get pregnant again. I lost a baby at nearly 12 weeks, had one period and then conceived DS2 who is now 18 mths. So , it does happen!!! Take care of yourself and good luck.

.... oh at smoking women!

whitedaisy · 08/09/2006 11:15

Ah! Thank you so much. x

Daisypops · 08/09/2006 11:29

Oh sorry to hear that Whitedaisy.
When I was going to fertility clinic a few years ago there were women wandering around 8/9 months pregnant and I thought it was a little insensitive.
Pamper yourself and look forward to trying again. xx

pinkranger · 08/09/2006 11:40

I am so sorry for you whitedaisy
Think of you xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Anglaise · 08/09/2006 13:13

Whitedaisy,
I'm so sorry, but try for another soon. My first pregancy was a miscarriage, but your consultant is right, I got pregnant almost straight away afterwards and have a lovely daughter now. Seeing pregant women after you've suffered a miscarriage is one of the most difficult things to bear, but it will pass.

nikie1 · 08/09/2006 17:44

cupcakes · 08/09/2006 17:48

whitedaisy - I echo your consultant here. I had a mc in March and then got pg again 4 weeks later before I even had a period. Am now 25 weeks.
Good luck.

whitedaisy · 08/09/2006 20:13

Thanks to you all for making me feel better. I'm OK. I have two gorgeous sons already one through fertility treatment and the other was immediately after a previous miscarriage, so I'm going to make the most of this so called "Super Fertile" time and try to get pregnant again. I'm just Soooooo tired it's unreal! Anyway enough of me, KITTY 79 WHERE ARE YOU? WE ARE ALL HERE FOR YOU. XXX

pennygaff · 08/09/2006 21:01

hi im six weeks and 6 days pregnant ive been bleeding like a period since tuesday night, i have no pain and have 2 other children with out any bleeding, do any of you think the baby has gone or has this happened to anyone else, please help emma...

bobsi · 20/09/2007 17:20

Hi Emmamitch, this thread is 12 months old but I've just read your comment.
I've had brown blood every time I go to toilet since Saturday. It's not a lot but isn't going away. I had a scan on Tuesday and everything is fine - I'm six weeks pregnant by the way (I thought I was eight). I'm still bleeding though and still worried. Unfortunately, I've just got to sit it out and hope that bleeding is normal as I can't keep going to doctors all the time. Please go to your doctor and get it checked out. They found it hard to scan me at just six weeks but were able to just make out a tiny flicker.
This thread is pretty scary and I kind of wish I hadn't read it - sometimes there's too much info out there.
Hope all is ok x x

caz1978 · 03/08/2008 10:50

hi everyone, im new to this site and been reading your comments and it has been helping me loads. I am 5 weeks 1 day pregnant, yesterday i woke up o have some pink spotting and cramping, went to a&e who sent me to epu near me, they said that they could not do anything at this stage as i am so early on in my pregnancy. all the done was take blood to test hcg levels, a urine sample to test for any infections (which was clear) and i ahve to get my levels done again on tuesday by my own doctor to see how they are rising, aparantly your levels should rise every 48 hours. since yesterday the bleeding has been continuous i would say a light flow of a period, i feel i am miscarrying, i had a miscarriage im may so i kind of know the signs. i am not due a scan for another 9 days but i dont think i will make it that far. i am so sad xx

lilymolly · 03/08/2008 10:58

Hi caz

Cant really help much as not been through this, but this is an old thread- 2007

Maybe post a new thread in the miscarriage topic?

I appreciate that this is not helping.
I had a scan last week at 6 + 5 days and they def can see a heart beat etc- so I would suggest you ask for a scan to put your mind at rest

jessbear02 · 20/07/2009 20:05

hi im 5 weeks today and getting cramps although very slight still very scary and very light bleeding which is bright red i live in brighton docs just told to rest but have 7 year old about to break up for summer hols and nobody to watch her so wont be able to rest alot!really want a scan but they say its to early has anyone had a scan at 5 weeks ?what advice where you given ?
please reply x x

anniebigpants · 20/07/2009 23:22

Im afraid they cant see much at 5 weeks, a heartbeat can be seen at approx 6 weeks with a transvaginal scan. Tis a scary place to be at, ive been in your situation a couple of times myself, im afraid resting wont change the outcome, so just continue with your day to day routine. Bleeding and/or cramps doesnt always mean bad news, try and stay positive. Maybe try and get a scan for a couple of weeks time.

HLB123 · 26/08/2010 15:42

Hi I done a test yesterday which showed i was pregnant and 3 hours later started bleeding its a dark red/brown colour and its about a medium flow, ive been the doctors 2day who told me i was 6 weeks i dont no what 2 do i am rele worried this is my first pregnancy should i ask for a scan? would they beable 2 see anythink there yet???

lucybrad · 26/08/2010 22:08

HBLB you have tagged onto the end of an old thread hence the lack of replies. I am sorry you are going through this. Ask they docs to refer you to the EPU and ask them to take HCG bloods, this should tell you over the course of a few days if the pregnancy is viable. A scan may or may not show up yet. Mine did, but some dont as the baby is only as big as a grain ofrice at the moment.

HLB123 · 26/08/2010 22:16

thank u lucybrad 4 getting back 2 me. I hav an appointment with the doc 2moro so will ask to be referd. readin all these comments helps alot but it is still so hard not 2 worry but now i no im not the only person going thru this. thanks again :)
