He thinks it would be brilliant. The surname is "Dix". Your comments please...

A work colleague had a job disuading her OH that Boo was not a good name for thier son.

jampots · 16/07/2006 15:52

ridiculous if he's serious.

Spotted would be better

thenamegame · 16/07/2006 15:52

DIZZY

WideWebWitch · 16/07/2006 15:52

You are joking, obviously.

thenamegame · 16/07/2006 15:53

Oh, he's definately serious. It took me months to counsel him out of ZIPPY for the last one!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/07/2006 15:53

Not as in "dizzy rascal"?

thenamegame · 16/07/2006 15:55

Exactly - as in Dizzy Rascal, but he told me Gillespe (sp?)

Zippy Dix and Dizzy Dix

sorry but lMAO

Can you imagine the poor teacher reading them out in regestration.

Amy Carter
David danielson
Zippy Dix
amanda Jones.

Sorry it would lead to a life time of leg pulling

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/07/2006 15:58

hmmm.

I think no.

A big fat no.

With hundreds and thousands on top.

Samuel suits that surname.

thenamegame · 16/07/2006 15:58

I know!! I did manage to vito Zippy last pg, he's mentioned it again this time, but Dizzy is his current fav.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/07/2006 15:59

thank god he doesnt want ziggy, or marley.

Blandmum · 16/07/2006 16:00

Dizzy is a tad better than zippy, but still like painting a target to your poor innocent child

QueenEagle · 16/07/2006 16:01

Why not Hugh?

or 3 names like...Ben Isaac Grant?

thenamegame · 16/07/2006 16:02

I agree.

I better not tell dp about the Ziggy idea, or he'll def go for that!

I don't want a boring name either, but there must be a limit. I dont' want my child to hate me!

OP posts:
thenamegame · 16/07/2006 16:03

Actually, my dad's name is Hugh! Although he's not a Dix, thank god .

OP posts:
Blandmum · 16/07/2006 16:04

If it is a girl you could suggest Abishag Dix

Sorry I have to lie down now

chubbleigh · 16/07/2006 16:05

Zippy Dix sounds porn star-ish to my slightly warped mind.

I made a deal with my then dp. If I have got to push and 8lb baby out of my fanny, and it then gets your surname, I am choosing it's first name. I had three names that I really liked, he didn't like my first choice to my surprise but he did like my second and now I am glad he went for that and couldn't imagine ds being called anything else.

thenamegame · 16/07/2006 16:07

I know its an awful surname , but what can you do? I am of the mind that the first name should be really lovely, to distract from the surname.

OP posts:
thenamegame · 16/07/2006 16:08

Yes, you have to go really un-porn starish for the first name with a surname like Dix

OP posts:
QueenEagle · 16/07/2006 16:09

There is nothing at all wrong with the surname - it's everyone else dirty minds!!!

But then, what do you expect on MN?

Blandmum · 16/07/2006 16:11

If you don't go for Abishag Dix,
How about Hannah Dix, I think that sounds rather nice

Alexander Dix for a boy?

thenamegame · 16/07/2006 16:12

I have lots of nieces and nephews and unfortunately we already have an Alexander, and one with Alexander as a middle name. But i agree, it is lovely! Dont' really like Hannah though.

OP posts:
QueenEagle · 16/07/2006 16:17

You can't have Alex as a first name.

Say it slowly.....
