Hyperemesis Support

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

I used to include extracts from MOH's wonderful website
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
but I think that makes this link less visible so am merely putting the link. The information on this site is invaluable for sufferers, with information about medications, coping strategies, hospital admissions, useful links, advice for family members, and much more.

I would like to thank MOH and Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Woweeee!!! MOG! Sending you all the best wishes.

Totesamazeballs · 25/01/2014 08:27

Thanks for the update MRsBeep! Congratulations to MOG! I hope she is recovering well from the trauma and wee babe is gaining strength. I think I know what hospital she is at and my experience of the neonatal care there was fantastic.

Sending hugs and Brew for strength.

SliceOfLime · 25/01/2014 09:47

Thanks MrsBeep for letting us know, congratulations to MoG !

Punk sorry to hear you're feeling so rotten, exciting to find out the gender though - two boys will be lots of fun. And you never know, a few years down the line you might change your mind about never doing this again.... Or maybe not!

Meerka · 25/01/2014 15:11

Hoping Mog, Moglette, sally and sally-let are alright.

doomfinch, sent you an email

LucindaE · 25/01/2014 16:45

Meerka Grin 'Moglette' and 'Sallylet' are great names.
Totes How far along are you, now? I know Tallyra is about twenty-nine weeks.
Punkstar and Everyone I hope not to bad on this wild and windy day. Real Gothic weather here, thunder pealing.
Dizzy Any luck re that number?
Chaffinch and Everyone I am so tight fisted and always was Blushthat I was shocked by the price of new prams and I went into a place that sold second hand ones and got one there. I have to say, the handles seemed a bit low. There was a choice of about three! The same with the cot - a man owed us some money and gave us his kids' old cot instead; I just painted it and bought a new mattress.

being tightfisted gives you more money for books

ChaffinchOfDoom · 25/01/2014 20:09

cot mattresses are best part of £100

thankyou Meerka, fascinating email - threw up the cosatto again, which I LOVE but ruled out as want a free carseat and also is always in the baby facing away position

the mothercare expedior is great - but looks - ''naff'' ??? it has all of the bells and whistles, but I went practical last time, this time I wanna be trendy

ChaffinchOfDoom · 25/01/2014 20:11

I got a fab 2nd hand sling for a fiver offa local FB baby selling group thing; she's never used it - was brand new.
going to practice with a teddy bear, never tried a sling before

had a baby backpack with dd but abandoned it as she grew too big, bad back didn't work well

Meerka · 25/01/2014 20:11

ye baby facing away position puzzles me too, why people like it so much. poor baby, all it'll see is the back seat and you won't be able to see how the baby is easily

ChaffinchOfDoom · 25/01/2014 20:35

babies love facing away to see the world after about 6mths from what I remember, but newborns need eye contact/ reassurance you're there? and you need to see them. weird world of pushchairs. the mothercare can be faced either way in the carrycot or the seat..not may others do that

Sally8655 · 26/01/2014 00:52

Evening all,

Sorry it's taken so long to update and so sorry for MOG having such a scary situation to deal with. My heart goes out to her and I'm so pleased both are ok xx

I've had a tough couple of days. After several hours labouring with no pain relief and no change to my cervix I was rushed for an emergency c section. It was pretty scary but all a blur really as it all happened so quickly.
I've had some issues bleeding and the pain from the c section is horrific. I've been transferred to a nicer hospital today and will likely be in for a week.
Jayden David Kodua was born 10:05 am on Friday morning weighing 7lb6oz.

Xxxx

livingzuid · 26/01/2014 07:30

sally that's incredible news congratulations! So sorry to hear you are in pain but glad you are off to a nicer hospital and being well taken care of. And that Jayden is doing good :)

livingzuid · 26/01/2014 07:31

chaffinch have you tried ikea for mattresses? We are getting a lot of our furniture from there.

PunkStar · 26/01/2014 07:33

Sally
Huge congratulations to you all. I'm so pleased for you.
Sounds as though it was quite traumatic but it's over!

Hope the CS recovery is swift and you can get home soon x

livingzuid · 26/01/2014 07:34

Oh and DH won't let me get a funky car seat/pram either :( I loved the cow print one or one with cute flowers on and he said no had to be neutral. Meanie. I wonder how I can get my revenge, dressing her head to toe in sparkles and face painting glitter?!

LucindaE · 26/01/2014 09:21

Sally Wonderful news, and a fine size, too. Thanks Thanks Wine CakeI hope the sickness has completely gone anyway and so hope the pain from your scar goes quickly, I hear they heal really well though you have to take it easy for a bit. I'm sorry a nasty labour put the finishing touch on all your pregnancy misery - enough to make y9u feel got at.I hope baby is angelic, as wavesandsmilesis, to make up.
Chaffinch Livnzuid Ironically, I did spend a fortune on getting a mattress made of natural materials -there was a scare at the time about cot deaths and babies peeing on mattresses creating some sort of chemical miasma - now, I don't see how, as most small babies don't pee enough to be in danger of wetting the mattress, but I didn't realise that then, and got in a state about it. Mereka Grin I have three bookshelves of books and others on shelves dotted about- geek or what - but OH has imposed a ban on any more books until I get rid of some of them.
I hope MurderofGoths and daughter doing well.
How are people today?
xx

sally so pleased to hear your news! congratulations and very pleased that all that suffering has ended up in a healthy happy little boy. Though the gods of pregnancy really hate you don't they, with that final parting C-section shot?

Hoping you get good treatment in the new hospital and all goes well with you and Jayden.

livingzuid, glitter and let her rub her face all over Papa's suit =)

Tallyra · 26/01/2014 10:37

Oh Sally I'm so pleased for you!!! Congratulations and huge big delicate hugs for you and Jayden.

jenpatnim · 26/01/2014 11:18

Congrats to Sally! That is great that he is healthy and a good size, and you will be back on your feet in no time.

SliceOfLime · 26/01/2014 16:22

Congratulations Sally fantastic news, sorry you had such a difficult time and hope you feel better soon. Has the sickness stopped?!

Lucinda I also chose an outrageously expensive mattress that my ILs generously paid for and DD hardly ever slept in her cot, she would cry so much we ended up mostly co-sleeping so the mattress is still pristine Blush

StarsInTheNightSky · 26/01/2014 17:40

Just catching back up with all the news as have been in hospital again. Meh.

MoG and Sally huge congratulations to you both!!! Hope that you and your little ones are doing well Grin
living boo to DH insisting on neutrals, I second the glitter suggestion, and then perhaps a princess party where everyone adults included has to wear pink, glitter and dress up, then leave him on crowd control for a while Grin
dizzy doctors like that make my blood boil! That is so rude!!! Definitely call the number as suggested if you haven't already. Really hope you're starting to feel a bit better.
punk sorry to hear you're feeling so rubbish, but great news on having another boy! Grin
lucinda I'm ok thanks, another relapse with the hg but I've been feeling a lot more positive about things now that I'm over half way there thanks Grin

I agree about all the pram confusion. We really struggled finding one which was tall enough for both of us (I'm 5'9 and often wear high heels, DH is 6'5) and I had a horrendous paranoia goldilocks-esque hissy fit about some of the seats looking too low when they were converted into pushchairs. We also checked whether they would fit into both of our cars and so we've eventually settled on the Uppababy Vista with the BeSafe iZi Go car seat and isofix base.
Our cotbed arrived too and DH put it together in the nursery, cue lots of growling and swearing about things which were stupidly difficult to put together Grin. We've started getting a few things every week now and seeing it all mounting up is really exciting Smile

PunkStar · 26/01/2014 18:15

Stars
Bah what a pain being admitted again but glad to hear you're feeling positive, half the battle!

Ooo we have a besafe car seat, they seem to be one of only a few who do the extended rear facing. Anyway it's V.G :-)

Hehe enjoying the pram debates, when preg last time I was so angry and in denial about l

PunkStar · 26/01/2014 18:26

Whoops posted in haste hehe....
About impending baby (HG rage!!!!) that we didn't buy a pram until the Little Boy was 6 weeks old. Got a sola from M&P in the sale, managed with slings prior to that.

Now also have a nipper sport to go running with and big walks, is pretty long though so not great for city shopping. But excellent suspension for anyone inclined to go running with babe!!! (Must reassure you all that this does not happen at current, I get out of breath walking up the stairs )

I'm just recycling everything from last time, so pretty cheap second preg. Good job, I've no income until the HG relents a little and lets me earn some cash. Did back to work days from four months into mat leave last time, it was okay despite exploding boobs and Little Boy having to make appearances in my breaks as refused milk from any other source!!! What a tinker.

Anyway is lovely to hear any good news.

StarsInTheNightSky · 26/01/2014 18:35

Punk thank you and yep, it is amazing how much feeling positive seems to be helping, even though the physical stuff is still pretty bad. That's really good to hear thanks, I was a bit worried as I don't know anyone in real life who has one, but they look really good, and as you say, one of the few with extended rear facing. Thanks very much, that's made me feel very relieved! Grin
Pram debates, grrrr! Angry I have banned myself from looking at or even discussing any others now, we spent ages trying to decide and I'm not going to start second guessing myself now, but it does seem to be such a baffling minefield.

StarsInTheNightSky · 26/01/2014 18:43

Punk also posted in haste before your second message. I really hope your hg eases up soon, no income is tough. It made me laugh about your DS having to visit in your breaks!!! It is physically impossible for me to bf due to severe surgeries in the past, so we'll be ff, although think that brings its own challenges. We're planning to visit the USA for two weeks about 3 - 4 months after our little man is born, all being well as we're looking to emmigrate. Both DH and I have had very interesting job offers out there, and I can't help thinking bf would be much easier whilst abroad.
