Hi there
I just got my BFP and am super excited but I have no symptoms whatsoever and am really worried that this is not a good sign

only thing is cramps in my legs, and tummy similar to start of AF and yesterday intense jabbing pain for about 2 hours which was a real worry until it finally went - relief

I know its very early but is any of this normal or should I be worried about the jabbing pain or lack of normal pregnancy symptoms?

any advice greatly received x

so glad I found this thread. I've just had a bfp with no pregnancy symptoms too. I did a digital which said 1-2 weeks but by my reckoning I should be 3ish, which worried me. and I don't feel pregnant. but i'm feeling a bit more reassured now Smile

isitnearlyteatime · 29/11/2013 13:20

hi flymo - great to hear from you - maybe they were just having a sleep on the conception board :-)

I totally agree with you - its an odd feeling indeed - I am so over the moon but also petrified and either every lack of symptom or every symptom Im getting is scaring me silly

I don't have a digi yet - Im far too anxious to do it yet as I only want it to come up with a very + positive result and Ive heard it is not very sensitive so may not show up

Im only 1 or maybe 2 days late so still sooo early

are you taking any vitamins? just got some but can't take vit k so will have to find one without this

am hoping that the insomnia is just a blip - don't think I can cope with many more sleepless nights :-(

maybe we could both test next weekend for a bit of moral support :-)

hi thebestnameshavegone - great to see you and many congrats on your bfp :-)

there are now three of us whove just got our bfps - soooooo exciting :-)

yes the lack of symptoms was really worrying me as I was expecting full on throwing up and boobs as sore as anything and neither have appeared so its reassuring to hear from the other lovely MN ladies who've had similar lack of symptoms early on

yes I too am concernced about the whole testing thing - really worried as the lines I was getting on the HPTs were getting fainter - this should not be happening :-(
Ive heard that the digi tests are not that sensitive and others have said it doesn't seem to correlate to where they were in their cycle - I don't really have a clue where I would be and know I am just petrified to test with the digi but must do it

crampy period type symptoms are now kicking in - do hope that is normal!

flymo79 · 29/11/2013 14:20

hi thebestnames - congrats!! joint the club of is-it-or-isn't-it?! I think I'm feeling like I should do a digi (just need to pluck up the courage!).
isitnearly - I'm taking a standard pregnacare vit (or tesco's own, depending what I can get my hands on) - don't think it has vit k in it.

ChicaMomma · 29/11/2013 14:30

I'm 11 weeks now and still no sympthoms (apart from sore boobs)- have had 2 scans and baby is perfect!
Count yourself lucky and enjoy while it lasts- the nausea might hit at any time :)

isitnearlyteatime · 29/11/2013 14:35

hi flymo - yes I was just looking at the digi test thinking I should really get the courage to do it

am getting (sorry in advance for TMI) increased CM which I also get just before AF - so this is worrying to get along with the AF type cramps - is the increased CM normal for pg?
this is all so worrying as to what is and what isn't normal
think I should really cave in and do the digi just for peace of mind

are you getting any cramps still?

OP posts:
flymo79 · 29/11/2013 14:38

yep, have had cramps since last saturday. and also increased cm. mine was also sort of yellowy the other day! sorry tmi!!

isitnearlyteatime · 29/11/2013 14:39

hi chica - congrats - I wish I could wave myself to 11 weeks now!

As long as everything is ok Im v happy with no symptoms - Ive heard how awful morning sickness is so I definitely would be happy not to have that :-)

when was the earliest you had a scan chica?

OP posts:
flymo79 · 29/11/2013 14:39

hi chica - congrats! That's really lovely to hear. getting the scan must be such a relief!!

WhatHo · 29/11/2013 14:41

The only symptom I had in the very early weeks with DD2was period-like pains for a couple of days. Apparently discomfort is not uncommon when the foetus (or blastocyte or whatever it is at this very, very early stage!) implants. Just so you know. Wink

By 6-8 weeks I was as sick as a dog.

isitnearlyteatime · 29/11/2013 14:43

reassuring that Im not the only one to have cramps as it literally feels like AF is coming and I keep having to check!
mine is now constant and doesn't seem to get better whatever I do :-( is yours the same?

great that not the only one to have increased cm - just googled it - am a google addict and it came up as a pg symptom - phew relief!

OP posts:
flymo79 · 29/11/2013 14:48

ooh - thanks whatho! off to google implantation! hope boss doesn't see!

isitnearlyteatime · 29/11/2013 14:49

hi whatHo - thanks for letting us know about the period like cramps - it just feels like af is coming and coupled with increased cm too but relief if that is all normal

Which cycle day does it implant?
think I need to have a quick biology lesson :-)

OP posts:
flymo79 · 29/11/2013 15:09

hey, isit, I think the most likely day (on a "standard" cycle) is day 9 post ovulation.

isitnearlyteatime · 29/11/2013 15:21

thanks flymo - yes I just googled it too - love google :-)

omg have just bought FAR too many digi tests - am becoming a POAS addict!
dont know why I thought I needed to buy so many - think the shop assistant thought Id gone a bit bananas!
am going to have to sell the car to fund this!

OP posts:
ChicaMomma · 29/11/2013 15:23

isitnearlyteatime i had a 9 week scan but i am going private (as i'm an obsessive compulsive worrier!!) and I live in dublin.
If you are public here, you dont get a scan until 12/13 weeks. I'd urge anyone to get a scan at 8/9 weeks, privately if they can afford it, as once they detect a heartrate at 8./9 weeks your chance of MC is 3%.. it just gives you that peace of mind a lot sooner.. whereas lots of undetected/'missed' miscarriages that happen around 7/8 weeks go undetected until 12 week scan otherwise.

happened to a friend of mine last month- she went in for her 12 week scan only to be told the baby had stopped 'progressing' at 7 weeks. If she'd had the early scan, she'd've known about it a LOT quicker.. rather than 4 weeks later and 4 weeks more excitement etc.. her case is rare though- but still! It's the one thing i'd really recommend if at all possible is an early scan.

Meet your sister on the google front- i'm currently analysing my own scan to read the nuchal measurement and heart calcium deposits. DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!! haha

isitnearlyteatime · 29/11/2013 15:30

good advice chica - will try and get this organised - feel like Im in the dark about everything and so far the medics have given me nada so am having to glean it all myself and get advice from the lovely MN ladies

am google queen too - it is great in so many ways and then tells you that just about everything you're doing is wrong or is causing a problem so its a bit double edged!

do hope yr scan results are good - I like you would try and interpret everything too - am queen worryier :-)

OP posts:
ChicaMomma · 29/11/2013 16:02

It is a double edged sword alright!! Information is king but all the same a lot of the negative edge cases appear on google- so for eg if you google 'missed miscarriages' then you'll automatically be directed to a forum with 50 people who've had them discussing them, giving you the false view that they are very common- when in fact my gynae said that only 15% of pregnancies after 5 weeks will miscarry, and only 10% of those miscarriages will be 'missed' miscarriages.. so that's really only 1.5 out of 100 pregnancies!

I am currently comparing a picture (well actually an iphone pic OF a pic) of my 9 week scan to pics online of babies who were diagnosed with downs and other trisomies.. do not, i repeat DO NOT try this at home :) :(

flymo79 · 29/11/2013 16:33

oh good - looks like I'm in company with the googling! was just checking out some biology cramming pages for nurses about implantation! love it... brings out the geek in me.

SweetPea86 · 29/11/2013 16:45

Congratulations OP

Don't worry totally normal not to have any sysmtoms yet,

Be careful what you wish for as I was asking the same thing 16 weeks ago two days after I asked this question I was hit with serve morning sickness and any thing else hormonal. I'm on just feeling normal again at 20 weeks. Hope you have a fab pregnancy and a cuddley bundle of joy soon x

appletree100 · 29/11/2013 16:47

Hello isitnearlyteatime and flymo... I also got my BFP this week yay :)(were trying for our first) x Its weird isnt it I just want symptoms - I want my boobs to feel different but they dont really - I do convince myslef that they do haha... I do however have cramping - but different cramping from period pains, and my only other symptom is the worst cold/cough in history - read that it is because our immune systems drop to implant etc.

Its really hard not telling anyone... I want to tell my mum now - almost did on skype earlier - but I know it could be a bad idea... So you are going to tell close people at christmas? xxxx

jazzcat28 · 29/11/2013 16:53

Hi just adding some reassurance - I had zero symptoms other than a digital BFP at 1-2 wks and was convinced that there would be nothing there at my 12wk scan. I got sore boobs at about 8 wks. I am now almost 29wks and after having really easy 1st and 2nd trimesters the 3rd is killing me with exhaustion, difficulty sleeping, aches and pains. Enjoy it while you can!

In terms of telling people we chose to tell my parents at 9 wks simply because they were cracking open wine and booze for my birthday meal and I couldn't hide it. But decided to wait until after 12wk scan to tell others. A friend told us she was pg at 9wks then had to untell us as she later miscarried. I know it's agonising waiting but really the time flies once you get past the 12 wk stage! I could actually have a baby in my arms in anything from 8-11 wks and I'm stressing nothing's ready!

Fingers crossed you all have sticky little beans Smile

ChicaMomma · 29/11/2013 17:26

I did the same jazzcat- told my parents and closest friends at 9 weeks, everyone else will hear next friday post 12 week scan. Cant wait to shout it from the rooftops!

Are you going to wait until the january sales to get the stuff- like cots etc? It might be madness to tackle it during the xmas shopping period in fairness!

isitnearlyteatime · 29/11/2013 17:28

welcome and many congrats appletree100 - that's 4 of us with our bfps this week - that is wonderful :-)

I know what you mean apple and can relate to what you say - every little boob twinge and there's been JUST the 1 tiny one Im like yay thats great! think Im more convincing them to ache than them actually aching!
hope yr cold/cough get better soon

after waiting for so long for my bfp I am literally in a complete whirlwind of joy that then turns to despair that I am not feeling the normal symptoms or Im getting cramping or something else wh isn't right - now we know thats ok (thanks to you lovely lMN adies for reassuring us, and me THE worry queen in particular!) we can enjoy it a bit more

thanks jazzcat - really glad you had a good 1st and 2nd trimester and hope the rest of the 3rd gets less achy

re telling people I NEARLY caved in and told my closest friend but thankfully I managed to hold myself back

I have sadly suffered from previous mc :-( and I really want to wait a bit longer but its entirely a personal thing

thanks for yr message sweetpea and good wishes and chica I can so relate to really trying to interpet EVERY last little thing from a medical point - fingers crossed its all OK for you x

OP posts:
flymo79 · 29/11/2013 17:36

hello apple! congrats to you too! I think I'm the only one posting on here because I'm having symptoms, not the other way round! anyway, I hope it is just because everyone's different and we'll all respond differently to what's going on...!
