Hello again,

I'm 39+4 today and getting sooo fed up Grin just want the little guy here!

On the other hand I'm totally dreading actually giving birth, I'm awful with pain lol but I know it'll be worth it.

I'm just hoping he makes a move as I really don't want induced Hmm

Anybody else feel like time has suddenly slowed down these final days(/weeks if we go to induction)?

How are you passing the time?

cantheyseeme I know what you mean! Every twinge! I think it's making me a bit of a hypochondriac tbh.

Oh dear, sorry about the heartburn chillis, I get it regardless of what I've eaten, it seems pretty random. Although I'm ravenously hungry this morning, which I hope means that LO is moving downwards and giving my stomach some more room.

Weird BH and painful twingy tightenings kept me up all night, but still no labour. I CAN'T do another three weeks of this!

Off for Brew & Cake with my NCT ladies this morning to pass the time, I suggest everyone on the thread have cake today!

Chilli81 · 27/11/2013 12:46

so just back from appt with consultant and she offered to do a sweep if my cervix was favorable. I jumped at the offer. turns out my cervix is really soft and thin and I'm already 2-3 cms dilated and lo's head is engaged! apparently it's quite common with your second to dilate this much before labour even starts so it doesn't mean that much but she was confident I would have ds sooner rather than later Grin Grin
the only thing that freaked me out slightly was that she said he felt like a biggunShock

chillisbopper · 27/11/2013 13:43

That's great news Chilli! I read after a sweep if it's been successful you'll usually go into labour within the next 48 hours! How exciting!! Thanks

I'd have yourself a Brew and Cake while you've got a free moment!

wish I could but have a 2.5 year old ds to look after. not great with the achy pains that follow a sweep. to top it off dp has guilt tripped me into letting him go to football this evening on the basis that it'll be his last game ages so doing bed time on my own. feeling very sorry for myself. Sad
Hope things get moving for the rest of you.

cantheyseeme · 27/11/2013 15:33

Oooh great news chilli Grin
Im still hanging in there, my curry made no difference apart from tummy ache and waking up numerous times due to heartburn. I still have heartburn now, bad. On the plus side, went for a coffee with work colleagues so that cheered me up Smile

Hope you are all well x

Albiebee · 27/11/2013 17:37

Ooh! chilli81 I hope it starts happening for you soon! (although not while your DP is out!)

Am having some more random contractions now, so hoping things are revving up. (should NOT get my hopes up, but I can't help it)

DH is giving me frightened rabbit looks every time, it's our first and I think he's bricking it, although he won't admit it.

Feel all ready, so any time you like LO!

Take care tonight ladies, sending you all good vibes.

MuggledWoman · 27/11/2013 17:50

Chilli, what does it feel like after a sweep? Have one later this week and quite nervous! Managed to avoid one last time around.

Chilli81 · 27/11/2013 18:04

muggled it feels very much like light period pains and generally a bit sore. I guess if it's successful then the light pains progress to the proper hardcore ones.

Chilli81 · 27/11/2013 18:04

albie hope the contractions pick up. Smile

cantheyseeme · 27/11/2013 18:44

Oooh exciting times Grin

My Dp thinks he may have chicken pox.... i....will....kill....him. Does anyone else get strong bh's after theyve eaten?

chillisbopper · 27/11/2013 19:28

Oh dear cantheyseeme I hope your DP doesn't have chicken pox Sad. Mine has labyrinthitis at the moment and it's a nightmare being so heavily pregnant with him unwell at the same time.

I notice an increase in LO moving around after eating which can sometimes be uncomfortable with him laying so low now, but I don't think BH Blush

OP posts:
cantheyseeme · 27/11/2013 19:39

Haha whaaat is labrythinthitis? He'll have to move out til hes better if thats the case so im praying not so Hmm his friends mum has it and he was there the other day Angry

chillisbopper · 27/11/2013 21:00

To be honest I'm not a million per cent sure lol! I'd never heard of it until DH got it typical of him
From what I gather it was an inner ear infection that he got when he had a flu and it's done some permanent damage because he didn't go to the doctors when I told him to so his balance is off and he gets dizzy a lot...seen a few specialists who basically said he has to go about things as normally as he can and the balance part of the brain will readjust itself sooner rather than later hopefully

I've never had chicken pox so not looking forward to the day LO gets it! I'd hate to have to go away and leave him while he's unwell

cantheyseeme · 27/11/2013 21:09

Aww no that sounds quite horrid, its the funny name i haha'd at not the situation Smile It can get quite bad in adults so i will feel a bit sorry for him if it turns out to be this, but now or in the next month is the worst time ever to get it! Im having a sweep next tuesday and im bloody dreading it,i had one with dd1 (unsuccessful) and it was just not very nice, plus its my actual consultant doing it! In her pretty dresses and lobely shoes Hmm poor woman haha! Brew

chillisbopper · 27/11/2013 22:11

Lol don't worry it makes me think of that movie the Labyrinth and David Bowie in leggings GrinGrin. Although I do feel bad for DH of course Blush.

I read on the NHS website that there's a vaccine for chicken pox you can get as an adult but they only give it if you're at risk of getting chicken pox, I imagine though if he hasn't got it already and he mentions to a doctor that you're about to have a baby as well they may give him it so not to risk the baby and also because as you say it can be quite nasty in adults. Maybe worth mentioning to the doc?? I will have a look for the link for you Smile

Good luck with your sweep, I hope it brings things on for you (although perhaps you might not end up needing it ay? Smile). I dread having one but I imagine the mw will mention it on Friday when I see her since that's my due date. I can only imagine how much I'll hate the experience but I'd take it in hopes I can avoid needing induced Blush.

I know it says people who are vulnerable etc but they might still do it given that you'll have a young baby etc. hopefully your DP doesn't already have them Brew

morning all. nothing exciting to report apart from period like cramps for a lot of the night which never got very painful or regular and now seem to have disappeared. of course they were painful enough so as not to let me sleep properly. thankfully my parents are coming today to help with ds so am going to try to have a rest.

2Labradors · 28/11/2013 08:46

chilli81 hope you get a good rest & then things get started for you.

It's my due date tomorrow, although for part of my pregnancy I was given today as my due date, but it doesn't matter I suppose cos no one has told our baby lol

No signs, even my teasing Braxton hicks have stopped mostly. I cleaned the banister yesterday though.

I'm going to spend the day lounging at my Mum & Dad's house instead of mine today, change of scenery Grin

2Labradors · 28/11/2013 08:52

chillis I had sweeps in my other 2 pregnancies, and my labour started the same day both times. I also really don't mind them either & it didn't hurt. I would love one now due to my previous success rate but I have to wait another week I'm told....boo!

Albiebee · 28/11/2013 09:07

Labyrinthitis is NOT nice, I had something similar as a kid, one ear went and I had to walk propped up against walls because I couldn't tell which way was up… very weird!

chilli81 I haven't noticed the BH getting stronger after eating, I just seem to have them randomly all day and all bloody night long.

Jealous of the sweep action around here, I'm not due until next Tuesday, and even then I don't think they'll give me one until I'm a week late.

Mixed bag of BH, contractions and period style pain through the night again but still no regular contractions here.

maybe you more experienced ladies can tell me if you think that means it will be soon?! [hopeful emoticon]

Monkeyandanimal · 28/11/2013 15:12

I'm sure your symptoms mean you'll be going soon Albie; it all sounds very promising. Although i had NO BH or period pains or show with either of the first two; with DS 1 i went in on a thurs to have him checked beacuse of little movement, and they told me i was contracting...didn't feel a thing, not even tightening. He was induced the next day anyway, 10 days over. With DS 2 i had NO symptoms again until 8pm on a monday while watching 'My name is earl' i started getting painless tightenings which over a few hours turned into pains and had DS2 at 2am ish. So i reckon all these symptoms you guys are getting are sure fire ways of saying your body is getting into the mood and gearing up for labour! I've had BH lots this pregnancy, so i'm hopeful it means my uterus has been getting into training and is now nice and fit for an easy labour! PMA!

chillisbopper · 28/11/2013 22:56

Well in 1 hour and 7 minutes time it will officially be my due date aaand I feel nothing Sad! But I have had such a busy day reorganising the flat and putting up shelves okay, okay, making DH put up shelves and I've only just sat down now with a nice Brew...perhaps this is the "nesting" everybody speaks of Grin (mw said a lot of woman start nesting more just before labour, I wonder...)

Ok, so you ladies will be all tucked up in bed now, I am up and TENS machine is on. Contractions since 5-ish last night, I guess I'm in the early stages, as they are not at all regular, between 7-20 mins.Wish me luck!

chillisbopper · 29/11/2013 04:57

Yaay! Albie that's wonderful news!!

Good luck! I hope the contractions pick up and you have your LO soon! So exciting!! Smile Keep us informed SmileThanks
