Hi ladies

I am after some advise please as dont know if I need to contact my midwife.

I am 30 weeks and all weekend I have been getting period type cramps on and off! But last night they were so bad I sat on my bed and just cried! They are in my stomach and lower back. I also have a pain going down to my vaginal area (sorry tmi) but it feels like something is pressing down on it and really bruising it. Then I get a sharp stabbing pain there as well!

I have never had pain like this before and it hurts so much. I have taken codeine which I had for my SPD but even that isn't taking the pain away. But being my first baby I don't know if this is normal or if I need to call my midwife, so was hoping someone could advise me please.

I should also say this isn't a constant pain. It comes in waves and hurts for a few minutes then passes for a few minutes and then is back again. At first it was happening every couple of hours but now its every sort of five to ten minutes.

Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance xx

How are you today?

Excited2meetmyprincess · 18/09/2013 09:32

Hi.
Starting to feel a little better. Still getting pains but they don't seem as regular as what they were. Although baby has decided she is not going to move much which is worrying me. But I have midwife tomora so will get her to check then x

Not wishing to alarm you, but reduced fetal movements may need to be checked out sooner than tomorrow.

This is a really useful checklist telling you what to look out for:

Have an ice cold glass of water and lay on your side for a half hour, if baby is still being quiet then you should hassle the midwives again as she might not be getting enough oxygen. Always better to be safe than sorry.

What Cinna and Mogs said. Please do this and hassle them again if you need to.

She is moving just not as much as normal but they did say at the hospital she had turned so is back to back with me and because my placenta is at the front she is kicking into that now. So I am not worried at the minute and when I eat or drink she moves for a few minutes afterwards and then goes quiet again.
If she doesn't get back to normal in next few hours I will call them. Thanks again xx

Hey Excited, how's everything going? Hope your little girl has stopped giving you reasons to panic and that you're in less pain now.

Thanks mogz I am feeling a lot better in myself but still having some strange pains and pressure. Saw my midwife on Thursday and she said baby is right down and putting a lot of pressure on my cervix which could be causing the pains. Just trying to take it easy for a while. But I am going to pack my hospital bags this week just in case!!
Thanks for checking xxx
