I've been so tired over the last few day I could cry.

But the strange thing is I'm not really yawning, I just feel utterly exhausted.
I've even been pulling a breakfast stool to the sink so that I can wash up sitting down!!

No appts available at GP's today or tomorrow so MN is the next best thing.

oh, it is so tiring, esp 1st trimester. Is that what you're in now?
Congratulations, btw! Check it out with yr mw next time if you're really worried.
Otherwise, put yr feet up, have a cup of tea and let it all out on MN!

LadyTophamHatt · 22/06/2006 11:35

I'm 11 weks now and almost everyone else on the Due in Jan thread has said they feel better/less tired now.

I don't remeber feeling this tired with the Ds's

I had anaemia and felt so fatigued I honestly would fall asleep whilst doing something.

But that didn't happen till right around 3rd trimester.

LadyTophamHatt · 22/06/2006 11:58

Thats what I'm wondering about Expat.

Don't know if yuo can get anaemia so early on?/

(BTw have you been away? I was thinking about last night because I hadn't noticed you around)

I would never have known but was tested for it. Don't know when it can show up.

Yeah, I went on a small holiday.

sugarfree · 22/06/2006 12:03

You didn't have 3 children already before though did you?
I don't think I've ever had exhaustion like pregnancy induced,I was like a hedgehog in November.
Worth getting your Hb checked out for peace of mind though.Aren't you about due some blood tests around now any way?

Thomcat · 22/06/2006 12:05

Everyone is different. Perhaps the others don't have a mountain of washing up to do. Perhaps they all sleep better and deeper at night than you do. And so on. 11 weeks is still so early on a I think totally normal to feel tired.

FWIW I felt fine with no 1 DD and like all life had been drained from me with no 2 DD.

I know you probably won't but take it easy on yourself. Leave the washing up for soemone else.
Easier said then done i know!

SoupDragon · 22/06/2006 12:09

As Sugarfree says, you have 3 children. Were you more tired with DS3 than with the others? How many Dun In Jan's already have 3 children?

I was knackered throughout BabyDragon's pregnancy. And still am. So physically tired I could lie down on my bed and never move again.

SoupDragon · 22/06/2006 12:10

Actually, I went to my GP before I was pregnant with DD becauseI was so tired. He did a battery of blood tests and all were fine apart from very mild aneamia. He told me "Motherhood is relentless. Even when I'm busy I get a break between patients."

sugarfree · 22/06/2006 12:11

It's like just...do you know I don't think have words for it,even breathing is too much effort with it.
You really have my sympathy.

FlameBoo · 22/06/2006 12:23

It is just plain exhausting - the reason I did a pg test in the first place was the fact that I was pleading with DD to take a nap because I needed one.

Take some spatone - I don't show up as anaemic on tests, but know in myself when I am iyswim. It should help a little if nothing else.

I found pregnancy with one other child exhausting enough, I can't imagine it with more than one.

LadyTophamHatt · 22/06/2006 12:27

I have no idea when blood tests are done down here. It seems to be all differnet to where we lived before, have a scan in a few weeks but there no mention of bloods being taken.
Plus I'm under MW lead care so see them for all the appts and not a GP and it was my GP who sent me for bloods before.

Rather amusingly I had forgetton the 3 children I already have increasing the tiredness factor.
Duurrrrr!!!

Going to call Doctors in a mo and badger them for an appt.

LTH you should get your bloods done when you are booked in so ask for them to check iron levels etc. Iron tablets will be given then to help but also stuff like orange juice, baked beans etc contain iron so eat more of that type of food..have a list somewhere will dig it out. Also feel exhausted all the time but putting that down the 6mth old who doesnt sleep..lol

twocatsonthebed · 22/06/2006 12:34

I felt exactly like that - I had to lie down for at least an hour after eating a meal, it was just too exhausting. And everyone said it would pass after twelve weeks, but in fact was more like 17...but you may not want to know that.

And would second Flameboo, Spatone is really good, and won't do any harm if you're not anaemic.

Thomcat · 22/06/2006 12:35

You already have 3 kids and wonder why you are feeling so tired 11 weeks into your 4th pregnancy!
LOl you mad woman.

LadyTophamHatt · 22/06/2006 12:42

Have an appt at 4:20 today...
Just mentioned I'm PG and they found an empty slot for me.

Funny that....

hope your appt goes ok. I am 14wks now and feel a little better than a few weeks ago but still I often get a wave of tiredness and feel so so so completely sleepy. I have one dd(2.5yrs) who has started to wake at 5.30am.... so I think its been really taking its toll on me and dh. I went to my gp but my blood tests from my booking in appt were all fine so she said it wasn't iron but probably just the pregnancy and the fact that I am looking after a toddler as well. So if you have more than 1 you are doing well I think.

She even said to me just make sure you get a little break every now and then even if it means putting dd in front of a dvd for a while.

hope you get some answers this afternoon.

Elibean · 22/06/2006 13:52

I felt utterly and totally knackered at 11 weeks, and even now at 16 weeks I'm exhausted after lunch and in the evenings. I think pregnancy tiredness is similar to MS, it can go by 12 weeks but not for everyone - mine doesn't start to lift until 14 weeks, and thats that.

If you're worried though, you can get your iron levels checked - thats a possible cause, and so is gestational diabetes, but they usually check for that much later on in pregnancy.

Hope you feel better soon

LadyTophamHatt · 22/06/2006 18:01

after a 50 minute wait to see him he's sending me for blood tests to check anaemia, sugar levels and kidney and liver function

At least he took me seroiusly I suppose.

SenoraPostrophe · 22/06/2006 18:04

hope you feel better soon, lth.

it won't help, but ime the tiredness gets worse with every pregnancy.

NotAnOtter · 22/06/2006 18:07

i had anaemia this time and docs did not pick up on it in the end i went and got blood test my hb was 9 - it took two weeks for the iron to kick in but what joy!

ELM · 23/06/2006 12:44

Hi LTH

When are your tests? Hope you feel better soon.

jabberwocky · 23/06/2006 17:49

Just saw this. Did they check your thyroid as well?

LadyTophamHatt · 23/06/2006 21:17

jabberwocky...yes

that was the other thing they are testing!
I knew there was something else but just couldn't remember it.

DumbledoresGirl · 23/06/2006 21:21

LTH I don't want to depress you but I felt as you described pretty much the whole way through my last (4th) pregnancy. There may have been 4-6 weeks in the midle when it was no so bad but I wouldn't swear to it. Don't underestimate the extra strain that is already on you looking after your other children.

I wasn't anaemic btw, although, having been slightly anaemic in my first pregnancy, I alwasy took Floradix as a precautionary measure in subsequent pregnancies.

Hope you feel better soon.
