Punctual first born babies?

Nellysgirl · 30/08/2013 16:46

So just a general enquiry really... I'm currently 35w with my first and feeling like It may come early! No real grounds for this other than plenty of BH etc... I think most first time mums often feel this way?
However google seems indicate that most first born's are late...
Did anyone on here have an early first child or even a due date baby? Grin

DD was one day early. 7 hours from first contraction to first cuddle. My Dr tells me DC2 (currently 31 wks PG) will arrive even more quickly. It's a good thing I'm three streets from the hospital!

Dd arrived at 38+3. No idea she was coming, I just woke with contractions at 4am. In hindsight walking for nearly 2 hours one day, pruning the garden and sweeping it all up the next seems to have been the trigger as I went into labour that night.

11 days early here, no BH and nothing else to make me think I'd be early

DC1 was 2 days early (and a 40 hour labour, so if he'd been more cooperative he could have been earlier than that).

Not a single twinge before my waters went followed by contractions starting up, and my mother was 2-3 weeks late with all of us so I had been confident he'd go overdue and hadn't finished packing my hospital bag Blush.

Then DC2 was also 2 days early and DC3 was 3 days early. I had my bag packed those times...

Braxton Hicks from about 32 wks, were pretty regular.

DS arrived at 37+6 - hoping the same will hold true for number 2.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Just goes to show you can't predict these little ones! Seems BH doesn't count for much except practice!
I'm still hoping for an early arrival because I'm so excited and call me naive but I'm not worried about labour (yet). Having said that I'm not keen on getting an induction Shock another reason I'm hoping I don't go overdue xxx

First born was 1 day early. Second born was 2 weeks early.

However, I was 2 weeks late, as was DH so not sure there's a pattern. And out of (say) 50 people I know who have had babies, I only know about 5 who have first babies before their due date, and 2 of those were properly early (more than 3 weeks).

My ds was born by 9am on his due date. Punctual little dude!

I'd been joking the night before I'd like to sneeze at some point the next day and pop out a baby, and that's sort of what happened! bar him getting stuck and needing forceps at the last minute

I know what you mean, OP. I had a suspicion that I was going to go into labour early myself. Partly because I was born 6 weeks prem - I know that doesn't really mean anything, but it was on my mind.

As a result I decided to stop work when I had 6 weeks left.

I was glad I did because DD1 was born just shy of 4 weeks early.

I then went on to have DD2 4 weeks early too. THey were both fine.

None of this 9 months pregnancy for me. Grin

I think babies are quite punctual. It's our measuring techniques that are a bit sloppy.

My DS arrived at 38+4 after my waters broke at 38+1. He was fully cooked. I has braxton hicks from around 25 weeks. I knew he would be early as my DH left to work 5 hr drive away (was planned to be his last week away) i said to him you know i'll go into labour this week dont you Grin i was only half joking

Currenty pregnant with DC2 and this baby will definitely be early, mostly due to having an elcs this time Smile
