Yes! Happy Birthday to me indeed! Fanks for all the Cake I would say 'nom-nom' and 'it was awesome!' but I would have to stab myself for being an irritating twat. I digress..

Come here, ladies who have survived IVF and are now battling the first trimester nerves and scans. We did it...we did it!! Grin

I'm here, Cutie, but don't have a lot of time on my hands for mumsnet as I have TWO blankets to knit, TWO sets of bootees, TWO matinee cardies...

Hello! I'm here too - just been super busy for a few days.
Hello bird - welcome.
beetle - how's the double bun in the oven cooking?! Am so chuffed for you! I start weaning off progesterone (three ways) at ten weeks if scan all ok (scan Monday) - going to beg to stop the big fucker injections first!
maybe you seem to be having a rough time - how many weeks are you now. I hope you're going to feel better soon - I have had a day off the nausea today and it's such a relief (though now worried it means something)
pram knitting in yellow? MIL said when we told her she was going to start knitting.... Am hoping it's suitable, though as we should by then be in a down under summer I am not sure on the need for knitwear. Felt it was mean to say that - so I said we'd use whatever she made for us.... What have I let myself in for.

Happilymarried155 · 10/09/2013 18:03

Hi,
I am 6 weeks pregnant after iui treatment and thought maybe I could join you! I've got a scan on Thursday and I'm worried sick about it being eptopic-I did the worse possible thing by googling it.

I can't believe how anxious I am about the scan and am really trying not to worry! How did everyone else's early scans go??

Congratulations on all your bfps! :)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/09/2013 18:18

Welcome Happily! You're in the right place. The wait before the scan is excruciating! There really is very little chance of an ectopic though Smile

Good to hear from you Wim how you feeling?

I'm 12 weeks today, and only getting worse. Even my fluid intake is decreasing. Am attempting some soup shortly Wink

birdandbee · 10/09/2013 19:02

Happily- you are with me still waiting for the reassurance of an early scan... It can't come quick enough!!!

We are thinking of going private for the 7wk scan

Happilymarried155 · 10/09/2013 19:09

It's horrible isn't it! I've got my fingers crossed that we see a heartbeat and then I think il stop stressing so much!!

Has everyone been telling people? We have only told parents at the moment but I cannot wait to tell everyone :)

birdandbee · 10/09/2013 19:22

It's excruciating!! Have been doing tests just to check every other day, need to stop though as I'm now worrying that the test doesn't come up positive as quick as before... When in fact it has or the delay is due to using a different brand etc....

We've told both of our parents and I've told my work as they knew we were going for IVF / work need to make arrangements for when I go back... But not telling anyone else.

Happilymarried155 · 10/09/2013 19:34

I only did the two tests for that reason, I thought is send myself mad!! It's so hard not telling the people you love such exciting news! Luckily we are away for a few weeks so I think that helps! I'm also hoping to have my booking in appointment before we go, we go when I'm 9 weeks though so fingers crossed!

How many weeks are you now?

TortillasAndChocolate · 10/09/2013 19:37

Just saw this thread pop up on my phone and wanted to just say congratulations to all of you with your miracle babies! I have a little 2 and a half year old boy who was conceived through IVF, and I still feel so blessed every day that it worked.

Also I showed straight away when I was pregnant - my ovaries over stimmed a bit so I was bloated from the IvF and just never got smaller! So I told people after my 8 week scan as it was tricky to hide anyway.

Anyway, sorry to gatecrash, just got a bit nostalgic reading your thread and felt excited for you all Grin

birdandbee · 10/09/2013 20:06

I'm 5 wks Smile so still long way to go to the 7wk scan.... Or it feels that way anyway!

Good to hear from you tortilla and to know that you also showed... I'm barely pregnant and can't get into any of my trousers...

Happilymarried155 · 10/09/2013 20:28

It will come round fast, I'm so lo

Happilymarried155 · 10/09/2013 20:28

Stupid phone!!! I'm so l

Happilymarried155 · 10/09/2013 20:30

Third time lucky...I'm so looking forward to it but scared at the same time!

My trousers are also so tight and I feel so fat already! I've been laying off the exercise as I've been too scared but I think if everything is ok at the scan this week il go back to swimming a few times a week!

Nice to hear you lovely story tortillas :)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/09/2013 20:45

Lovely story Tort, it's always so nice to hear the positives. All too often I feel all we hear are the negatives Smile

The first 12 weeks drag. It's only once you get to each milestone that you can see how far you've come!vat first we told parents and brother/sister. DH told all his friends at work as they've been a great support through the IVF. My work now know due to me being signed off. Can't wait to get Friday out the way to make it official (hopefully). Though it seems more and more people know as I have a rather loose-lipped bro Grin

I think most IVFers show earlier, all that extra progesterone doesn't help. But it will turn from bloat to baby, mine has just started to do that. Before, it would only be bloat and absolute chronic wind

I had also imposed a knit ban Beetle! But my knitting mojo is back today, so am finishing up some socks I had on the needles, then I may start on baby knitting! I taught myself to crochet and make a blanket when I was IVFing, so already have a bit!

I'm sure your progesterone levels will be just fine. But anything that puts your mind at rest is worth it! When's your next scan?

I did manage a whole bowl of soup yesterday! Took me an hour, but got there in the end!!x

How is everyone else today?

Prambo · 11/09/2013 16:09

Beetle, yes, the knitting is for you (I know how freezing you must be in South Africa) but I have accidentally sewn three arms on one of the cardigans. Is that okay? House-hunting was aborted on Monday as that cottagey one had gone at the weekend. Saw one looked-promising-in-the-photos house on Saturday which was a shithole when I got there. I am unperturbed 'coz i iz having a baby, innit Smile

Welcome, Happily and congrats on your IUI working! Do you think you released more than one egg? Please believe me when I say your fears will not be assuaged even after your first scan. This first trimester is a shitter in every way you can think of. My advice is to stay away from google, don't be afraid of spotting (impossible!) and learn to sit with your anxieties 'cos it's a bloody long twelve weeks.

Beetle, I have actually read the official script from the 'bible' that doctors use when prescribing drugs and progesterone does not have any useful function whatsoever after a BFP. That includes normal women and IVFers. I wonder why IVF clinics use it so zealously?

[waves to Marbie and Wim]

Prambo · 11/09/2013 16:11

Oooh, and I listened to my baby's heart beat for the first time today when Janice came to visit! Smile

birdandbee · 11/09/2013 20:27

Wow pram hearing the heart beat must have been amazing!!

How is everyone else?

We had a wobble this morning did another digital prego test and it said that I was a week less pregnant that I am.... Spoke to the clinic apparently this is common if you have extend culture IVF like I did as the embryo grew out side of my body for nearly a week (6days).... Vows not to do another test as its causing undue anxiety. GOING TO BE A VERY LONG WAIT TIL MY 7 WEEK SCAN.

Rest of day was good... Had an afternoon sleep... Not sure how I'm going to manage next week going back to work.... Was exhausted to day not doing much else then doing the grocery shop....

Thank you beetle for your message Smile

Prambo · 11/09/2013 22:28

Bird, I can only echo Beetle. Them there digis are shit and should be ceremoniously burned atop a bonfire.

Laughing my head off at 3rd-arm hoist Grin Janice was ace, Beetle, although not an advocate of Gina Ford (boo!) I told her I have no intention of devising a birth plan 'so don't be asking me for one'. She nodded sagely and said: 'sensible girl'. I told her I have no intention of going to antenatal classes. She insisted there is nothing that can be learned at antenatal classes that we cannot pick up from a hypnobirthing CD. I said, 'what about changing nappies?' Her reply: 'your mum'll show you.' I like Janice Smile

NoMaybeAboutIt · 11/09/2013 22:36

Janice sounds immense Prambo. Will she be the one who will be with you in labour? I don't know how this all works.

Bird I'm also agreeing with t'others. Step away from the tests Smile.

Hope the time passes quickly Beetle. Even though I know how much it drags Smile

Happilymarried155 · 12/09/2013 09:08

Not such a good start to the day for me. Had scan at 6+3 they said that they couldn't see a yolk said and I had to come back in two weeks for another scan. She said it could be a mix up with my dates and I'm earlier than I though or it could be that I'm going to have a miscarriage :(

Has anyone had any experience of this? X
